  1. It's political suicide to introduce it. The gormless monkeys that run Manchester City Council are facing calls for their resignation following the congestion charge vote result. Labour will be out on their backside in 2010 also. It all depends on Cameron & co, but I imagine they're seeing a big shift in public opinion, people really have had enough of this BS.
  2. because a large proportion of the population is fundametally stupid. Eccleshill, spot on. The woes of the UK expressed in 10 words
  3. Have the same issue. Had car from new (4 years). Get people flashing from time to time, was most apparent when new, maybe reflectors/bulbs have dimmed a bit since then. They are quite bright when you look at then, the offside seems to give a fair bit of light to towards oncoming drivers. It's had 2 MOT's so I would have expected any headlight misalignment would be picked up by now...
  4. Mine was the same, until we had children and she found she couldn't get them back in the car due to the retarded plebs who park 2 inches away. Now she does the same.
  5. These are used in the Western desert states of the US, for obvious reasons, though they've all looked better than the one in the picture. Don't think even UK roads are do bad you'd need one.
  6. So annoying this kind of thing. My Fabia has damage to it's rear bumper, both rear doors and both rear wheel arches, all due to retards in car parks hitting it when parked, and more specifically in the BUPA car park in Salford Quays when wife worked there.
  7. That 115 BHP was only badged a GTi in the UK, at the behest of the marketing people at VAG. In the rest of Europe it was badged as Golf 2.0 I could leave them behind in my old 1.3 Metro.
  8. Toyota brake lights also work all the time. It makes sense. By hard wiring them a point of failure of an essential system is removed. British cars (or at least mine) never did this, but then again BL didn't understand electrics...
  9. Yes, it is hideous. But it is nowhere near as hideous as the bright pink stretch limo I saw outside Manchester Airport Terminal 2 a few weeks ago. It put me off my lunch.
  10. A North Manchester Peuget dealer tried that with my Uncle's 407. Told him his pads were 90% worn. They had actually been replaced a month before along with the discs. Last I heard trading standards department were involved. As for exhausts, now go to dealer every time. Kwik-Fit (an oxymoron if ever there was one, quick? people do marathons faster) are useless anyway, unhelpful, inept, slow, ignorant, surly, rude, and their places stink. I had a Polo 1.4 TDi, needed middle and rear sections and had it done by ATS. From that point it made a whistling sound, like there was a turbo fitted under the back seats. They tried 4 middle sections and two rears - no good. Went to VW, it cost a hundred pounds more but was perfect. Got refund from helpful but embarassed ATS manager.
  11. Considering the 'victim' made his name taking the **** out of the Spanish and making them look like backward retards, it seems a little hypocritical to complain.
  12. Awfully sorry, ever thought of a job at Guantanamo Bay?
  13. Fabia vRS - about 415 miles. Works out at 50 MPG average from my fuel receipts using motorways at the legal limit.
  14. Probably depends on your experience of them, I found them better on wet motorways. When I had them on my Polo I never got that initial delay to braking whilst the water was removed from the disk. With the grooved disks the brakes worked immediately.
  15. It's pretty pointless really. Bit like asking for a kettle that doesn't give off steam. The vRS rides more firmly than other models because it has stiffer suspension. That's the compromise, as Lewiscypher stated, you gain handling, you lose comfort. But saying that, there isn't much that's more uncomfortable than a softly sprung car that leans like an old shack along a country lane. Got to agree though, the roads are C%&p which really doesn't help.
  16. Risky... I have a policy of never getting in any car better than mine. This reduces temptation and helps to keep money in my bank account.
  17. A friend of mine was in an Audi dealer recently. Was told he could have a brand new unregistered A6 Diesel, list price £31,000 for £23,000. As in, please just take it away...
  18. vRS Cam belt, tensioner, water pump, alternator belt was done for £360 (or thereabouts) at Awesome. Parkside Skoda quoted about the same.
  19. I normally wait until one of the scrotes from the estate down the road comes hoppy-walking past with his imaginary carpet rolls under his shell suit covered arms, looking in peoples windows for things to burgle, then start it. I live in hope that the particulates will shorten their thieving, vandalising lives.
  20. Write instead, send it recorded delivery. When you get a response it will be written, they can deny anything said in a call. As per the post of ExAudiSi, they will deny the fault is common/known. I even have a letter from them stating there is no known defect with leaking doors (even though A) there is a mod kit for the doors, they know all about it, C) it is as common as the cold)
  21. When you replace it, glue it on (Araldite works well). The cover is a piece of dog poo and comes off. Mine slipped off and jammed on the accelerator on the M56.
  22. What was that tune somebody made up for the Lupo GTi? 'It's small, it's fast, it's coming past' or something...?
  23. I can't watch it. It's just pure smugness overload, all 'look at what a brilliant driver I am' and bo77ocks like Henderson showing her mum and sister how to drive around a racing circuit. It's unwatchable. :thumbdwn:
  24. You will get a grinding noise. The vRS does it from the rear discs due to the hard metal particles in the pads, and it's normal. If they feel bad have you had a brake fluid change? As for the EBC's, I ran the green stuff pads for years on their 'Turbo Grooved' discs, and had no bother with them at all.
  25. I tried BP Ultimate Diesel with fabia Vrs and a Polo. With both fuel consumption INCREASED 10%, and performance was no different. It is pi$$.
