  1. To quote from the owners manual "change of light bulbs on xenon lights should be undertaken by a specialist garage" and "xenon bulbs operate with a high voltage, professional knowledge is required, danger of death" With that in mind I would suggest it would be sensible to carry a spare bulb kit, but I doubt they could enforce you to change a xenon, where there's a blame there's a claim!
  2. I ordered from amazon.de no problem at all, delivery was a bit more expensive but item arrived without any issues.
  3. Could possibly be a fault with either the high or low pressure switches, and more than likely the low pressure switch, this will prevent the compressor clutch from coming on if it has failed.
  4. Rwbaldwin, I'm not being pedantic, but the fans will continue to run if the engine is hot, not linked to the radiator. This was an early symptom of my thermostat having failed shut, engine hot, radiator cold, fans running after ignition key removed.
  5. Had similar recently, the thermostat had failed shut. Check how quickly the engine temp heats up from cold when driving, if you reach 90 within a mile be suspicious and check if the coolant hoses to and from the radiator are hot.
  6. Agree with Ken, clean both ends of the main earth terminals, battery to body and body to engine.
  7. See if this guide works for you, it did for me. http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/280484-european-headlight-adjustment-octy-ii-pre-fl-halogen-lights/
  8. I got the Valeo wipers, through Amazon, but sold and despatched by ecp. They had an offer on and we're only £12 a set. They work really well. Don't know if the offer is still on though. Try searching for the Valeo part number on amazon.
  9. Should only cost me the £35 excess on the repair insurance policy
  10. Journey wasn't absolutely necessary, so done a U-turn and dumped it outside my house. AA man has been and confirmed my diagnosis, just need to get it booked in for repair now.
  11. Got in the car (09 cr vrs) got a mile down the road, temperature was already at 90, which is way quicker than usual, pulled over checked radiator hoses and they were cold but cooling fan kicked in, checked heater and it blew red hot. Guess the thermostat is jammed shut. Glad I took out aa repair insurance.
  12. http://www.skoda.co.uk/owners/service-and-maintenance/national-pricing/maintenance "The price you see is the price you pay" Can't see any get out clauses on that.
  13. Fixed price on skoda website quotes £489 for clutch replacement.
  14. +3 for the Goodyears, rated A for grip, B for economy and low noise at 69db
  15. Hid lamps do wear out, they produce far less light with age, a friend complained his lights were so bad it made night driving almost impossible, so he replaced the hid lamps and he said his lights were now excellent. Was on a 08 plate so maybe 6 years old. Replaced with lamps from amazon, about £40 for the pair. You live and learn.
  16. I think winter still has a chance of causing chaos. But am also glad that I have the cheap steels on due to the ridiculous pot holes the severe weather has produced. My alloys would have been wrecked.
  17. Yes, went for the pure unit, http://www.pure.com/product/highway-300di-vl-61716/
  18. Why not buy a DAB radio? These come with their own aerial that you stick to the inside of the windscreen (very discreet) and that should be the end of your problem.
  19. Extract from the gov.uk website on mot tests. "Wipers/washers: Operate to give the driver a clear view ahead." I would say that doesn't include the rear wiper.
  20. I don't think it is. I was in your position a couple of years back and I bought a new rear wiper motor and finished fitting it an hour before the mot. When I joked about this with the examiner he replied it wasn't part of the test and I needn't have bothered. Hope this is still the case.
  21. I've seen white smoke from a diesel when it was being starved of fuel, turned out to be a clogged filter.
  22. Let me Google it for you, I'll report back if I find the answer.
  23. I noticed a similar thread a while back, may be worth a read, see here: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/288040-orange-oil-light-partially-illuminated-with-lights-on/#entry3571495
  24. Yes you can, on the sri reset it gives days since last reset, also miles since reset.
