I was at probably the very first meeting when this type of kit was mooted for use with gas appliances...
To clarify, I am no IT guru; but held a vital clipboard holding position !
The sales pitch was....
" Imagine flying back from your hols in sunny locales...you get off the plane , its really cold so.... hey presto I can turn on my boiler from here....!"
We all guffawed loudly and moved on to the next agenda item.
How times have changed in a few years..!

I had a new Alfa 146ti as a company car back in the day....kept it for 12 months (we changed our cars annually) & did 30,000 + trouble free miles...loved it but oddly have never been back to the marque since.

If you have not already done so....?
I would advise test driving the estate as well as the hatch, in my experience there was a marked difference in ride quality/comfort.

TV reporting's easy. Ask a question, spend five minutes nodding sagely before saying 'and now back to the studio'. That's all there is to it
Yes...but it's the "Devils Advocate" attitude I would struggle with !!

There has been some unrest among the inmates at a privately run prison in the Midlands.
A local radio reporter was talking to "Tracy" whose partner "Mick" is among the protesters/rioters.
"So Tracy...what can you tell us please..."
"It's their fault ennit"
"Whose Tracy...?"
"Them...the jail, they dow let em do nuffin they can't do anything they want...it's awful for him"..
My mental response was along the lines of...
You stupid F..... C.. he is in F......Jail...oh for FS !
The reporters was a much more considered...
"Thats interesting Tracy but he is in Jail and they surely must have a structered regime to help them..?
"Nah..it's awful for im"

....welcome along & what Skoda jokes are they..................?

I am an early retiree.......
.....so my current hobby is doing nothing...staring wistfully at a distant vista thinking...
..."Darn it !...I could be on a wet & windy M 6 right now with a foreign lorry driver trying to kill me..!"

It might be worth looking at:
.....if some of the vinyl could be of value.
It is worth bearing in mind though that a lot of the info is historical.....you just knew that the pink vinyl 7" version was worth loads more back in 2005...??!!
Also, just out of interest; it might be worth investigating in a copy of "Record Collector" magazine if you hadn't had that thought already ?

Have you tried "Search"....? there has been lots....& lots on here over the years about Branded v Supermarket fuels...might answer some of your questions...

Putting washing on....folding dry laundry......I used to have an important job you know..... :S

The Meguiars kit was featured in an American classic car mag recently and they were suitably impressed...apparently useful on lots of other dull/discoloured bits too...although as others have said if there is a cheap & cheerful solution that works......

Thread Reanimation.....!:
I have taken a look at the MG 3 and thought....(or not..!) it might be vaguely of interest ?
There were 2 on display a mettallic bergundy one which looked a bit more grown up than the yellow sticker/stripes version.
It actually looks ok in the flesh, a bit narrow and tall perhaps similar to a Fabia. The doors close with a reasonable "weight" & not a "clang" (or is it just me that likes to test this...?). The boot is a reasonable size for the class & a quick sit behind the wheel seems to suggest that the driving position is pretty good and as it starts at £8k odd looks to be a decent prospect......however...
The interior is awful with strange designs on the seats (think french cars from a while back) and the dash just looks odd.
There has clearly been an effort to make the car look a bit sporty but the "MG" badge on the front seems too big, and the whole thing smacks of a "Design Team" trying (a bit too) hard on a limited budget.
Sadly (to me anyhow) there is simply no escaping the fact that it is a cheap Chinese hatchback that has that historic badge tacked on to try & shift a few cars over here...

I have latterly developed a taste for "posher sausage".......: Please Note. This is registered as an innuendo free post.

Thanks for taking the trouble to reply much appreciated !
Sadly, I do not think my geriatric bones would squeeze into one of these fine looking machines.
It was more of a general query about them.
They are a local company up to me. I am mildly intrigued by what seems such a low key set up....although they are unlikely to have a big arrow outside and a sign saying...."latest top secret model here"...are they really..?
Cheers

..................looks like i'm doing the factory tour on my own then..................
-
I live pretty close to their factory & drive past regularly (including today).
It is a very anonomous site that could be producing cardboard boxes or widgets rather than sports cars !
Now the road runs past the rear & car park of the place so no doubt there could be a s****y reception area full of cars on display but this is certainly not apparent !
Does anybody know if they are doing ok...this is just out of interest really as they are a local company.
I know we have a few track day fans & sporty car owners on here so does anyone have any thoughts about Westfield.....?
-
We actually have a "Home Brew" shop nearby and seems to do decent business so there must still be a call for it...?

Not exactly connected to your IFA role but.......
The lady who rolled up to our house to measure up some curtains arrived in a new white....Audi Q3.
The very 1st comment from one of the guys working on the house..
"You're paying for that..!"
He was quite right.
Go for the Superb, it certainly gets my vote
Good Luck !

When they were newish I recall one parking outside my local shop. The shopkeeper said..."Blimey do you drive that or fire it..?!"
Strangely I always remembered that car related quote.
I think he was referring to the car and not the lady driver....?

...........whatever happened to James Spaders' hair..................?
-
The name.....: George Zip.

Welcome along...you are certainly "upsizing" there....!

This is sad.
I saw him on both the " Rock & Roll Animal" & "Coney Island Baby" tours.......there was no in between song banter at all...!
In particular the music from the former show lived in my head for weeks always the sign of a great show.
If you are not very familiar with all of his music please take a listen to the 1st 4 Velvet Underground albums and maybe take moment to think when they were recorded !

Car Magazines ,which do you rate?
in Off Topic Chat
Posted
Just my opinions of course:
What Car: How do they get away with £4.99 for about 100 "new" pages only; every month...!
Autocar: If it ain't BMW there are not interested.
Car: As above but glossier and boy do they love themselves..!
Evo: Irrelevant unless you are a supercar owner or really really must read about them.
Top Gear: Haven't read it for years....is it still for kids...?
Auto Express: OK for news items, takes about 30 mins to read.
...and that is about the extent of my knowledge on "modern" car mags..... I enjoy reading Classic Cars myself but appreciate that it may not be of interest to all..oh & you do have to enjoy a lot of Quentin Wilson on a monthly basis.
