SWMBOs' much loved & missed Ford Puma had 21000 miles on a 51 plate.
The purchaser rang our local garage (who have always serviced the car) to check that the history & mileage were genuine, sadly the fact that it had been looked after like a family member did not significantly boost the value......

...........Walter Houston..........???
This Is a Google/Wiki Free Answer......impressed ??

Well.......disguise or not 1st impression is that it looks as dull as dishwater. :(

Just seen a lady in a 13 reg white 1 series (coupe ?) using one.
Think that I shouted "NO" out loud........

Last time I bought a touch up kit from the dealer about 2 years ago it was £6.....ish so not too expensive.

Slightly off at a tangent but the "Hogwarts" comment reminded me...........
A few years ago (about the time of the 1st Harry Potter Film..) I was walking along the River Severn at Arley (only relevant if you know the area.....) early one frosty Sat morning. The Severn Valley Railway runs virtually alongside the river and lo & behold out of the mist came the steam train used in the film and still bearing the "Hogwarts Express" name plates.
I believe the film company were not too keen on the SVR retaining the livery and I certainly never saw it again sadly.
In no way am I an expert on this type of thing but the engine used was ".....Something Castle"...?
Thanks for reminding me of that bizarre encounter..!

In this weeks "Classic Car Weekly" there is a feature on the Vauxhall Astra GTE Mk 2 from the mid 80's.
This was quite the dogs bits in its day & with a 0-60 of 8 secs (ish) was considered very rapid indeed.
It was THE benchmark hot hatch of its time.

I really really did not like my Fabia vRS estate & got rid of after a few months.
However I did have use of the hatch for a while when mine was poorly and I liked that a lot.
If it's a good un then no doubt it will be a good choice for you....enjoy.

Good review thanks.
I really like the exterior but sadly the interior is poo....

Welcome along Mike.......

There was a green vRs Octy in the compound at Autosales (Bilston) last week.
Of course it might be a car already ordered..? but worth a look ?
They do look loads better in Green than I ever thought..

Thanks everyone for taking the time/trouble to respond.
I think a little bit of research involving many of your suggestions is the order of the day before the plastic comes out !
Cheers

Hi matey and welcome along.
I went the opposite route from Fabia vRS estate to Mazda......!

I know this has been asked before but hopefully not for a while so........
We need a new 40" tv, "reasonable" mid range sort of thing, neither 3D or any sort of internet connectivity is required so bog standard 1080p HD.
I can get a discount on "Sharp" products but they never seem to feature too highly in the desirability stakes...is that a fair assumption ?
Any advice or suggestions welcome...thanks !

I really like the exterior of the Rapid, especially in a "nice" flattering colour & with 17" wheels.
If the interior was up to Octavia design/quality then Skoda would have had a real winner.
As it is, my vote goes to the Rapid, my money however would go on the Octavia.
You only have to see the 2 cars side by side in a showroom ( "old" Octy of course at this stage) to see that an opportunity has been missed.

Jimmy, have you taken a browse at the "Performance Upgrades" section matey...?
Might be worth a look...?
Also, try using "search", I am pretty sure there has been lots of discussions around this area previously.

Both diesel versions of the latest Rio (1.1 or 1.4) claim about 70 mpg.
Subtract the mfrs "fantasy factor" of 20%, which will leave you returning around mid 50's in the real world. Slap me with a wet fish if I am wrong .
It will be interesting to see how you get on with the Kia which seems to be a really nice car....enjoy.

Hello & welcome along, good choice of car matey......
-
My local dealers' showroom model with extras is priced up at £19k, next to it is an Octy vRS estate, silver grey, silver roof rails, parking sensors etc etc for £900 more.
Yes it is in a different sector and soon to be "obsolete" but the difference between the 2 cars in terms of quality is rather noticeable.

My local dealer says they are not in until March, I would certainly not be ordering until there was a demo & much touchy feeling being done.
-
I was able to do my silver Octy quite well but the Steel Grey Fabia looked terrible but that was my fault no doubt !

Curleybar: a few years ago we had to quickly come up with a pub quiz team name and settled on using a combination of mine, wifes & daughters christian names and it has stayed with me....
The alternative we considered at the time using the same idea was......Cholera..
Look what i had delivered this morning.
