  1. Not sure if you're still after one but I just noticed someone has put a rear bumper crash bar on eBay.. It's nothing to do with me, I just remembered your thread as soon as I spotted it Its listing title is '2006 SKODA FABIA VRS REAR BUMPER BAR REINFORCER'. Marc
  2. I'm sold on the California scents golden state delight, just ordered one off eBay to see if it's as good as you guys make out! Just hoping for some nice weather now so I can give my seats a good clean and get the inside mint! Marc
  3. Ah right expected it to be a vrs sorry, was gonna say! My vrs is registering 52mpg average on the trip (so a little less in reality probably), a mixture of motorway cruising and spirited a/b road driving. I didn't expect a 1.4 to be that bad. Good luck sorting it. A new standard air filter will help if it's not been swapped for a while - dont think I'd bother with the k&n. Marc
  4. What engine is it? That mpg is bad. Marc
  5. Might have to try them for a quote myself as mines due in July. Mines currently 55/month and I'm 29 with 6yrs protected ncb, but that's with my girlfriend on as a named driver who's 25... It's deffo looking like it'll go up though this year :( Marc
  6. I really don't like tinted rear lights, looks miles better with them back to standard. Whats above your number plate?? Marc
  7. Pretty much identical to mine. Had mine done by skoda at 49k and just coming up to 5yrs old also at a cost of £350 Marc
  8. I'm pretty sure that i've read in the past that all you need is a kvw100 window control module which you just plug in to your odb port and it uploads the relevant codes? Marc [EDIT] Just spotted that awesome do them.... http://www.awesome-gti.co.uk/product.php?xProd=6808
  9. I saw this thread on detailing world a while ago now. It's definitely worth a read if your considering wrapping your wheels; http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=175828 Marc
  10. I'm in 2 minds whether to go for a Leon FR tdi, or an Octy VRS tdi next - I'll need something bigger than the Fabia due to planning having kids. Depends what's the best deal at the time I suppose. Marc
  11. I'm sure I've read before now that you can utilise the cd changer socket (if your not running a changer that is), you'd just need an adapter to convert it to RCA sockets. Marc
  12. I'd try and get someone to fit the five-cylinder turbo'd 2.5-litre TFSI 335bhp engine from the TT RS, and the quattro system to go with it Marc
  13. I enjoy the A537 Buxton to Macclesfield road (aka the Cat & Fiddle). Great place for a spirited drive! Used to be better when I went on a bike although not quite as safe, I think it's regularly been deemed the most dangerous road in England but I'm guessing that's due to it's popularity with bikers and the amount of biker fatalities. Marc
  14. I saw a red Mk2 VRS a few weeks back with White wheels and a White roof which looked great, I think it would suit the Mk1 too - just another option to consider maybe? It was like this one but without the decals.... Marc
  15. Some members have mentioned varying tax prices between VRS's but it seemed very random I recall, didn't even seem to be based on engine code! Just checked on the dvla site though for mine and I'm the same - £130 :( Marc
  16. Try having a look in the Fabia Alloys Archive thread that's stickied at the top of this section of the forum Marc
  17. Have you factored insurance in to your budget and got some quotes yet? I reckon a remapped VRS for a 19yo is going to cost a fair bit!! As for the car mentioned above it's not too bad, but I think you may be able to get lower miles for the same money. Don't be swayed by the fact that it has cruise as that's cheap to add anyway (and personally I think cruise is useless in today's traffic), things like xenons and leather are the more expensive additions so finding one with either or both of those would be a great start. Check on whether the cambelt has been done too, and if not keep £300 or so aside for that as well. Marc
  18. I paid £19.99 at my local Skoda dealer last MOT time. Marc
  19. Try looking into Carpro's Iron-X, or Wolfs Brake Duster - both products get rated highly on detailing world. Marc
  20. Performance Torque in Wolverhampton would be one of the best bets, they are a site sponsor too. I'm considering a trip to them if I can ever afford it. Or as mentioned you could go down the STS route from Shark, also a sponsor. Marc
  21. That stuff reminds me of when I used to go over to France as a kid with my parents caravanning! My dad would always paint his lights with it on his old Renault 11 before the journey... I'm sure it was exactly the same product. I bet he has remnants of it left in his shed albeit about 20 years old! Marc
  22. Had the same problem with both rears. Most affective way to get them off seems to be a flat footed kick whilst lay down to the the bottom edge then top edge of the face of the alloy - just make sure your jack is sturdy. Other option a heavy plastic faced mallet to the rear of the wheel. Once off use some emery or fine sand paper to get all the White residue build up off the inside of the alloy where it meets the hub, and the rim of hub.. and as mention above put some copper slip on before refitting - won't happen again then. I'd advise anyone to do this if you know your wheels have not been removed for a fair old while... saves having problems removing them in more awkward places like hard shoulders etc!! Marc
  23. Either Shark, Performance Torque, or Unit 18. They all seem to get the most recommendations on here. Marc
