  1. Following on from my previous post I decided to wrap mine in gloss black vinyl yesterday. I'll be honest its not the easiest of processes, all credit to these guys that wrap full cars!! Maybe easier in carbon as that looks a little thicker and less likely to crease. Anyhow, it cost me £4.75 delivered off eBay for enough to just about have 2 attempts (luckily!), and you'll need a craft knife or stanley knife, and a hair drier. Its not perfect but for what it cost to do i'm not that bothered if it comes off in a few weeks - it was a learning curve! Pictures are a bit poor i'm afraid due to the weather and time of day - will try and get a better one when it's dry. Marc
  2. I did mine yesterday with some black hole, sealed with some Colli 476.. Very rewarding on a black car! Shame it's pi$$ed down today so the roads will be throwing up a load of cr@p again during my weekly work run :( Didn't take any pics, if it still looks any good tomorrow il take a couple as I vinyl wrapped my grill as well today. Looking good by the way! Marc
  3. Has anyone used plain black vinyl to wrap their grill? If so how does it look? I'm skint at the moment but really would like a colour coded grill. I've seen 5-7 year grade black gloss vinyl on ebay big enough to do the grill for around a fiver which sounds good to me... With regards to the front badge, once taken off how are you guys refitting it - does it need to be glued back in place? Thanks Marc
  4. I'm well impressed with that! If there was a good supply of damaged seat covers you could make a killing they look that good Marc
  5. Yeah It was just the very optimistic price tag that caught my eye.... If it was A LOT cheaper it would be a mice car for someone.
  6. Cheers, it didn't wanna work on my iPod so I posted and hoped for the best thinking it was just me! It's still playing up for me so the item no. is 170597630801 if it's the same for you. Marc
  7. Not my car, I just thought it was worth a post to point and laugh, I mean - an 02 with almost 150k?? I hope it's not a members! http://wap.ebay.co.uk/Pages/ViewItem.aspx?aid=170597630801&sv=Fabia%20vrs&emvcc=0 Marc
  8. I always prefer wheels where the spokes go right to the edge of the rim rather than having a thick edge round as it gives the illusion of the wheels being much bigger. Like you say these look smaller for that reason. Marc
  9. There's a black fabia vrs on eBay at the moment which is running 17" spiders in White. They look grubby though to me. Anthracite would be better. Marc
  10. They're great! Love the trunk monkey one! I'd forgotten all about trunk monkey (search it in YouTube if you haven't seen it before ). Marc
  11. He's from Warrington as far as I know, seen him around near me quite a few times. It was in another magazine feature last year - someone put it in the spotted section.... can't remember what mag. I believe he's a member, but not very active on here. Marc
  12. I just read about this offer on hot uk deals, been Reading through some of the comments which really make me laugh :p Marc http://m.hotukdeals.com/deals/skoda-fabia-vrs-now-vat-free-saving/843503
  13. Taken this evening after fitting my new plate surrounds and pressed plates (xmas pressies) Marc
  14. Off father Christmas today I got; A set of Dubmeister pressed plates A set of Skoda VRS Motorsport plate holders VRS keyring Poorboys black hole glaze Collinite 476 wax Bilt hamber clay 2 Kent drying towels A few sponge applicator pads I have a great missus! Now all I need is some good weather!! Marc
  15. I'd also recommend that if you are doing them at this time of year, to buy some cheap seat covers to put on once clean - at least for the front anyway as they get filthy really quick in the winter. I have some plain nylon ones off Ebay that are on for the winter, think they were a tenner each - mine have skoda logos on the headrest section but you can get them with VRS too I think.... they do the job even if they are a bit thin/cheap. Marc
  16. Hire a rug doctor from somewhere like morrisons if you have on local, that's your best bet. Failing that, for a quick fix try Autoglym interior shampoo and a damp cloth, it's surprising how well it works. Marc
  17. I took a scirocco out from work the other week and found the seats in that to be extremely comfortable! Suppose it all depends what type of car your after... and your budget of course ) Marc
  18. I've asked for some cleaning products; poorboys black hole, collinite 476 wax, bilt hamber clay, and some Kent drying towels! I think it'll be a while before the weather is decent enough to try them out though! How about some alloy pressed number plates and some surrounds.. Maybe a bit expensive though for stocking fillers. I've also asked for one of the stainless VRS keyrings that are on eBay as my leather dealer keyring has fallen apart Marc
  19. Cool sounds easy enough thanks. I've done the fabia badge but though the skoda badge may have tougher adhesive - will get a new one ordered up and give it a go Marc
  20. How easy are they to remove and what's the best plan of attack? Mine looks to have got water under the face of it or something and is also looking a bit worse for wear. Does a new one come with adhesive already on the back? Thanks Marc
  21. Overall I usually average 45mpg or so as I do a lot or urban driving, but yesterday we drove over to Sheffield from Warrington over Woodhead and I averaged 60.1mpg - I was impressed! Although thats going off the computer not manually calculated. Marc
  22. A bit off topic, but apparantly they were secure individual mail boxes.. according to the suppliers used. Marc
  23. Hi Dave, I work for Helphire for my sins. Let's hope no one that knows me reads this slagging a client off haha, although to be fair it's all true! The funny thing is I only subbed in the octavia from another company as we had nothing available on our own fleet at the time... If we did, then they would have probably got a 58 plate bravo or summat - bet they would have loved that! 2SF - you couldn't begin to imagine how many people complain, for some silly reasons too. I had a client complain a few weeks back because we had supplied a diesel, and apparantly the noise from a diesel engine made his wife sick! Marc
  24. Oooh I was annoyed in work today, so thought I'd have a rant! I work for an accident management company sourcing hire cars and other vehicles for people. So today a clients mum rings me up chasing delivery as he was due a car yesterday evening. I knew I'd booked it so called the suppliers to see what the score was, they said they had definately delivered it and gave me the details - it was a 60 plate Octavia Elegance tdi. I called the guys mum back to check the address etc, and when telling her what car it was she just burst out laughing. To my surprise I asked her the problem and she said "a skoda??! I got told it would be like for like?". I proceeded to explain that as her sons piece of crap 316 compact was over 6 years old they had been downgraded and would not get a BMW/merc etc and was only down for a standard 1.8 so the octavia was actually an upgrade. Laughing again she said "even so, you think a skoda is ok to give?? My son is 25!" etc etc. I asked her if he would take a vw and she said yes! Obviously to my delight I explained vag, and said it was a shame about people with her mentality! Anyway I called my suppliers again and they checked with their driver who confirmed it was delivered to the right place but no one was in so they posted the keys downstairs (it was a top floor flat). I decided rather than speaking to the mum again I'd call the guy himself thinking I'd get a bit more sense. Surprise surprise, the same reaction.. He found it hilarious that I was trying to give him a brand new octavia tdi! The best thing was he said "I thought Id at least get a golf or summat!" ha ha, amazing! Anyway I left it with him, and told him to look past the badge and give it a try, promising he will be surprised. I'll see if I get a call tomorrow! It's amazing how people kick up a stink about courtesy cars, it's not like they are buying them! Even more amazing that some people still hold skoda as a bad name... Bloody BMW drivers!! Lol Rant over Marc
