Diesels do feel high geared after driving petrol, because they pull hard from low revs due to their higher torque levels, but you do soon get used to them. I seem to remember that the 1.4tdi has a 1000kg towing limit, same as my 1.6 tiptronic, which would apply to quite a small caravan. Mine tows our 800kg caravan really well.

Google "DPF removal" and you'll find loads of people who can remove it for you,

Advice Buying a second hand Roomster
Calomax replied to digitaltrance's topic in Skoda Roomster (2006-2015)
Skoda website is also worth a look, Used Skodas are on there nationwide, and you can search on your criteria -
No idea, I read about it in the "Car" mag while waiting for a haircut and didn't have time to finish it. But it did say the DPF isn't necessary for the MOT, and most people usually have the car chipped at the same time.

While waiting for a haircut yesterday, I read about someone in the UK who removes DPFs, saving up to £1500 for replacements.

Advice Buying a second hand Roomster
Calomax replied to digitaltrance's topic in Skoda Roomster (2006-2015)
The OP wants auto, so at his budget he only has a choice of the 1.6 petrol. And the price will be dependant on the rest. The Roomster is super for carrying dogs, but it is a shame it doesn't have a lower boot sill. But we can still manage a Golden Retriever that is nearly 15 years old. -
The Roomster lives on! (kind of)
Calomax replied to RapidRonnie's topic in Skoda Roomster (2006-2015)
Agreed. Impractical and doesn't even have a Skoda grill. -
My first disappointment - maxidot

Glad I haven't got on then because I hate white dials. -
You also get those on the ordinary trip computer.

What is the Roomster's front speaker size?
Calomax replied to stas12's topic in Skoda Roomster (2006-2015)
Absolutely. Maybe I'm just not fussy, and I don't know about the new model, but I find the radio performance on mine fantastic. -
I have the Vanstyle ones and the rear ones being in two halves doesn't bother me a bit, and there's no way I would have paid the Skoda price. They're great for hiding luggage and shopping etc in the back.

How to change sidelights - Fabia II & Roomster
Calomax replied to irfant's topic in Skoda Roomster (2006-2015)
Should you really want to -
Mine doesn't give a fuel consumption readout on tickover.

Roomster has gearbox problems
Calomax replied to wickerman1138's topic in Skoda Roomster (2006-2015)
I had the same problem with my old Spacewagon, so I just double declutched when changing up from 1st to second. But it did reduce it's trade-in value by £300 2 1/2 years ago. It's still being driven round though, so if you don't want to pay for the repairs, it will probably keep going. -
Also available at http://www.vanstyle.co.uk/shop/index.php/cPath/2729_3662_3663. I have these and they're superb.

Top up engine oil for a new Roomster Scout TSI 105.
Calomax replied to welshmike's topic in Skoda Roomster (2006-2015)
Different engine I know, but Mine has only had oil changes in 28,000 miles over 2 1/2 years. Has never needed topping up and is still on the full mark. -
There should be a button on the driver's door to disable the movement sensors. Or if you press the lock button twice when you lock the car the sensors will be disabled and the deadlocks will come off. I usually do the latter because it's better when leaving dogs in the car (less of a problem if I lose the key and someone else has to try to open it)

Have a look at used Roomsters on the Skoda website. You'll get a good idea of values there.

We have 2 Roomster licenced taxis here in Guernsey, a blue Scout that has been on the road for a few years and a new white one that only appeared recently. There is also a Yeti being used as a licenced taxi.

Anyone got a Roomster Dog Guard?
Calomax replied to Yellowduck's topic in Skoda Roomster (2006-2015)
I bought a dog guard from Pets at Home that clips onto the head restraint bars and can be removed in seconds. I wouldn't even consider the Skoda one. -
They are lengthways so I wouldn't expect them to make much difference.

I think a spare wheel became an option in about 2009. But our local dealer automatically specifies one on every order.I don't think it's a very expensive option so you may be able to negotiate for one.

Also the vertical tailgate makes the bootspace more usable that the Fabia.

How far can you drive without refueling in a Roomster
Calomax replied to the_raz's topic in Skoda Roomster (2006-2015)
Don't think so. Mine regularly offers 450 miles to go on a full tank. but the best I can get locally is 300 miles before the reserve comes on. -

New ones seem to weird consumption figures. Mine gives it in miles per ONE gallon. And over 2 1/2 years the readout has been almost 100% accurate.
