  1. I haven't driven the eco version of the fabia, but I've driven a polo bluemotion and that was a much better drive. Can't see the fabia being much different.
  2. Is it a VXR? I have the great pleasure of driving the ECOflex and its horrible, like a wallowing walrus in the bends, no feedback through the wheel and it could go anyway it wants in a corner, it decides for you
  3. Even my stage 1 Fabia is no slower than a Corsa VXR. I drive Astra's, Corsa's and Vectra's at work and they're all tripe, especially the corsa (its not a VXR what I drive however). Even my Fabia can out handle these in standard form!!
  4. Smoke is normal and potentially the car is remapped. Are you sure it was a Skoda Fabia vRS? From what I hear they are slow!
  5. I paid £8 off ebay too, and got sent the wrong size. The seller was really good about it and sent another. The originals were a pain to take off but the new ones went on quite easily.
  6. When did the console bush design change? Had mine changed in January this year by the main stealer on its service
  7. I've been given a price of £308+VAT for cambelt kit and waterpump to be changed which doesnt seem too bad. Mines an 06 on 43k and is being changed very soon.
  8. Admiral have sorted my insurance for me this year. Due to me having a low NCB because I used to be a named driver, providing I can provide proof I have been a named driver (give them the policy number) they are adding this on as no claims bonus. They are contacting me next week with the results, even if they don't give me the extra two years NCB they are still the cheapest I found. For some reason though their own website quoted me more than confused.com even though I used the exact same details?
  9. Gain a massive bill in a couple of months too. If you want a relatively cheap and easy power gain, get a generic remap.
  10. Ignore anything I said about MORETHAN. I just received my renewal today and its £700 more than last year. 700 pounds? How can they comprehend adding that to the already expensive cost with no motoring convictions, no accidents and another years claim free driving? Madness.
  11. My first car was a Mk4 Ibiza SE TDI which I managed to insure for 1100 with pops as the main driver. That was with Liverpool Victoria, I'm with More Than now and they are a tad cheaper, perhaps give them a call. All I'd say is avoid price comparisons as they give me extortionate prices for the vRS, as did Adrian Flux. As marktaylor said, Admiral are also quite cheap and young friendly.
  12. Sorry to hear this mate, we had our Range Rover nicked off the drive a few years ago when it was left ticking over (silly I know) it got found the same day though we were very lucky. Have your insurance provided a courtesy car?
  13. Looks very nice indeed. Once you've lowered it will look spot on, as will mine when I get round to doing it! I really like your wheels but they wouldnt suit my silver car But £40 to fit them? I'd of put them on for a tenner! I had my others fitted whilst I was at work (they got delivered to work and I was too busy to fit them but too excited not to have them on, garage over the road did it for £15)
  14. Could be Or could be me making a plank of myself on the petrol station forecourt!
  15. Considering the OP wanted to know about relative performance figures then yes, I would say its about what the performance of a Fabia is like both standard and remapped. If that was aimed at me, I drive for a living have spent a lot of time gaining driving qualifications member of IAM's yada yada yada so I would consider myself to be a better driver than some. I drive a lot more powerful cars at work so the Fabia isnt exactly stretching me. I find it strange that you think a car will be just as quick with one person driving as it is with another. Kind of puts a kibosh on motorsport.
  16. I'm familiar with the mk4 ibiza considering I owned one for 2 years thanks. It may well beat a remapped fabia, was the discussion here about that? The OP wanted to know about the performance of the Fabia and the issue arose to whether it is a quick car. My point was it is, yours was its not.
  17. You fit the criterion for the group exactly! If you were being embarrassed by those cars then it must only reflect on your driving, as a 106GTI (despite being light) is still pretty slow (I know because I had one for a month). For the price Fabia vRS's command on the used market at the moment there are plenty of other cars available for that sort of money. For the price I paid for mine I could have an Impreza WRX, Civic Type R etc etc. But why did I buy the Skoda? Because I wanted it. As I said before, if your only reason to still linger on the forum is to say how you used to own one and how slow they are, stop posting and go read a VTEC forum. However I hear they don't have much to torque about.
  18. Mines been out a few times, just be gentle with the lever and don't yank it when opening. I've been doing this and its not been out for about 6months+.
  19. Will the 30mm AP kit fit the VRS? http://www.dpmperformance.co.uk/ap-30mm-lowering-springs-shocks-suspension-kitbr-fabia-6y-12-14-14tdi-19tdi-19sdi-20-0100-p-5394.html
  20. Is it this bit you can't get to stick? If so, mine kept falling off and I got so annoyed with it I ended up supergluing the damn thing on. Doesn't move an inch now! I don't bother with the phone holder as I can access all my contacts through that and dial numbers etc so I just leave the phone in my pocket. I'll post a pic of where mine is if that helps, but its just below the two heater vents in the centre.
  21. It takes 30 mins about a few tears to end a relationship. 3 hours of blood sweat and tears (if your lucky) to clean those seats!
  22. Saying the Fabia is not a quick car when re-mapped is not true, saying a Focus 1.6 is not a quick car is probably about right. The Fabia once remapped has reasonable performance and is as quick as quite a lot of cars on the road, as others have mentioned. Mates just bought a Corsa VXR and again, both cars are equal. Would you consider that to be a "warmer" hatch than the Fabia? I don't profess it to be a super fast Ferrari eating monster, but it isnt a sluggish small family hatchback. Seems to me you're one of the ex-Skoda owning brigade who seem to patrol this forum with the only intention of slating the Fabia VRS. If you don't like it, don't make so many posts about it in a forum that is full of car enthusiasts who own them. Simples
  23. Did you think about what you put before you commented? The Audi has just shy of 190bhp, whilst mine is at 170-175bhp. There is a 200kg difference between the cars, but at higher speeds that will matter less. Plus if Audi's power is anything like the rest of the vag range on their diesels it will probably have more than 190bhp. So for a 32 grand sports coupe with 2 more cylinders and 800cc more I would expect it to have a bit more poke in it than a 12,000 Skoda!
  24. Update....... me this time Managed to stand in an ice cream and didnt notice :S Which must of been covered in raspberry sauce, it has ruined a pair of trainers (been through the washer and wont come out) and its now on my vrs mat. Haven't even tried to get it out yet but I am preparing for the worst :'(
