  1. A mot tester would not be bothered about sooty tail pipes if the dpf looks to be there and the emissions passed the criteria set down by vosa. Bet you though in a year or so the emissions check will get stricter and poss include a dpf emission check.
  2. Dpfs are now a mot check albeit a visual check, so if its been gutted then it would pass the the mot (the tester cannot tell if the dpf inners are present) but if its been removed it will now fail. (new special notice sent by vosa).
  3. Warranty states condensation normal and not a warrantable item but if water droplets are present as previously mentioned and after a period of time after the headlamps have been on then we have to take photos as proof and fit new (photos are taken because as you could imagine if we fit new lamps and send them back to skoda the lamps have naturally dried out the claim could be rejected)
  4. To be fair towing a caravan shouldnt have any bearing on a cambelt change interval, having said that though i would still stick with the 4 or 5 year (depends how old the car is) interval.
  5. cambelt and waterpump and coolent refill using the refill kit around the hour and half, vehicle health check and road test is extra time,
  6. I understand what you are saying about hourly rates around the country, i speak to other skoda techs when on courses etc and you tend to find the hourly rate is about the same except for london areas but national pricing is national pricing, When the common rail cambelt replacement first came out dealers where taking a slight loss on the job because of the price of the kit and the time allocated to techs. We can normally do a cambelt and pump on a cr now within a hour and half.
  7. If we get a waterpump failure in and it hasnt contaminated the belt skoda will not allow us to change the belt but if it has contaminated the belt skoda will allow you to change it under warranty, but there are ways around it nudge nudge wink wink
  8. "The average hourly labour rate at a Skoda main dealer is close to £100." I dont know which Skoda dealer you have been using but we charge £69. ph
  9. Yeah my kit was westfalia and the tow bar was a westfalia as well, you wont go wrong with them
  10. Take my advise as a superb owner who tows a large caravan and who also works at a skoda main dealer go for the devoted skoda wiring kit, this kit also charges your leisure battery powers the fridge and also gives you power for the new caravans that have atc systems fitted, it also switches your rear parking sensors off etc. I fitted mine last saturday to my new superb 2.0 170 cr 4x4 elegance estate and it took aprox 3.5 hours to fit and to recode the relevant control units. they are so much better in my opinion than the cheaper and sometimes troublesome aftermarket units.
  11. Ive got a twin channel tuning box from TDI Tuning and its very good its been fitted to my 13 plate superb 2.0 cr 170 4x4 for about a year and i love it, not the cheapest of tuning boxes but the service you get is stunning. They claim on the full performance setting you can achieve around the 220 bhp and i can beleive it as well. Bearing in mind we are Revo agent and i do agree that a remap is always going to be better, but i think this box is as close as you will get to a remap. other plus point to these boxes is the ecu has to be split open and unlocked to remap and if the car needs to go into the main dealers who are now equipped with "Odis" the remap can be seen and if its a engine or engine related issue the warranty could be void. also if your car has to go into the dealers for a engine ecu update it will wipe the remap and then the ecu will have to be reopened again and remapped. i scanned my car with Odis with the box fitted and it doesnt see it at all so happy days.
  12. It normally takes us about 2.5 hours to swap and regas the condenser.
  13. Also got the same bulbs and been running them for a year now with No issues.
  14. I think it will have come apart at the cable joint which is located at the rear of the n/s headlamp unit, (basicaly 2 cables joined together) Its like a ball and socket in a black plastic housing which clamps the ball and socket together. Very common, we see it a lot, N/s wheel off and plastic arch liner out to get to it (not a hard job, fiddley) When we refit it back together we put a tie wrap around the plastic housing to stop it re opening again.
  15. Our parts dept found mine straight away in the superb accessories page.
  16. Only has 1 wear rate wire which is fitted to the n/s/f brake but only on the inner pad.
  17. Went to work this morning and checked the "PR codes" (these are codes specific to my car as to what is fitted to my car from the factory) and it specifies a 12v 340 Amp 70aH battery from factory, Then spoke to parts and the replacement is a 12v 380 Amp 72aH battery, Very strange indeed. Will be doing a bit more research over the next few days.
  18. just been out and had a look at my battery on my superb (13plate elegance 170 4x4 estate) and it has a 340A 70aH battery fitted, Must admit if its been stood a few days it does struggle so will be finding out what it should have fitted tommorow.
  19. Try No1 for skoda (Rainworth skoda) and ask for jonno the parts manager as he is very good.
  20. Funily enough ive not realy thought about it but just looked at the rear of the car and the window is clean compaired to the rest of the tailgate.
  21. Believe me they are "ragged" we work on these vehicles and they get abused like you wouldn't believe. Totally standard even down to the suspension.
  22. Very unusual to have a vrs box with bearing issues as they are a strong box, we see loads of dmf issues and normally the symptoms are knocking noises at idle and or clutch judder when setting off (clutch judder is when the dmf has seized). your best bet is to take it to a garage as diagnosis over the net is hard and could become costly with a miss diagnosis.
  23. Black magic pearl, available from your local skoda dealer.
  24. Not a problem, bearing in mind I am in the trade at a Skoda dealership. the spoiler was £130 (cost price) and to have it painted was a further £80 inc fitting, Sounds a little expensive but I think it just finishes the rear of the car of.
