  1. Apologies for no pics / review yet, but spent today diagnosing an issue with the new MKIII I picked up this morning. Noticed a loud clicking / knocking sound under the dashboard passenger side. Happened after engaging reverse gear, and on after selecting first to move forwards again. Also happened after using windscreen / headlamp washers. Drove it back to the dealership, and we soon worked out what the problem was - every time the reverse gear is selected or windscreen wash applied, car closes the exterior air intake widget and reopens afterwards. We fo8und turning off aircon solved the problem, and then realised than just manually pressing the re-circ button on the dash would cause the same noise. Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Dealership extremely concerned about it, as I've just driven one of their most high value orders out of the showroom and found a fault immediately. Why not noticed in any checks? 1) Aircon off until car was in it's last position to do the setup and 2) Windscreen washers not used after car was detailed. They have been great about it, and I'm confident they will do their utmost to resolve. It's unfortunate and has rather taken the edge off the experience however I'm glad we found the source of what might have been a random noise. The after sales manager is going to ensure they know 100% what to do in order to resolve before they start any investigative work. Does anyone know though if the auto-recirculation can be turned off with VCDS or similar? It might actually be an option just to disable it completely and leave well alone, as opposed to starting to dismantle the dash to get at the motor. Once I have this under way I'll be posting pictures etc. I have to say in every other respect the car is amazing!!! L&K interior is just fantastic. I love the brown.
  2. Collection day! Dealership now has some kind of handover bay where car can be checked out of the rain. Why does it always rain on new car days!? As soon as I get some good weather, a full gallery will follow over the weekend if possible. Looking forward to helping out with any questions about the behaviour of an L&K manual 150TDI :-)
  3. Why does it always rain when it's new car day?!

I once drove a new car out of the showroom and by the time I was home the white car was black! Feel for you . Or you spend 4 hours detaling your trade in ,then it rains just enough to get the dirt up from the road , not enough to wash it off again!

  4. Not wanting to upset folks whose Alcantara might be delayed, but despite this being a manufactured fabric, the name still makes me imagine herds of "Alcantaras" roaming around somewhere, or being factory farmed out the back of the VAG factories. Sort of a cross between a Llama and an Alpaca....:-)
  5. I was just pleased to have secured a guaranteed trade in price for mine with the dealership ahead of any delays (luckily none on my order) and the emissions scandal (which broke well after the point the agreement was struck). There's probably some mileage in brand loyalty at the moment. Kind of reverse logic but you might get more out of a dealership deal by not trying to take advantage of something that's not Skoda's fault, and is well out of the dealership's control.
  6. You could turn them up in the S2 (at least in my elegance trim) so they are always on to quite a decent level of brightness via maxidot. The car did have the extra interior lighting though.
  7. I was getting twice-weekly screenshots from my dealership of the internal tool that gives them the order status. The last couple I've made up though :-) as updates in the dealership tool stop the moment the car arrives at their site. trackmyskoda is a manual system setup by one dealership group, I think it's most likely they just update it internally with the same information that comes from the proper ordering system. I'm certainly looking forward to getting the car on Friday - I will try and get some decent pictures over the weekend, weather allowing!
  8. Absolutely what I did. But you might find that the codes listed when the car is delivered to you are not as obvious - some of them are the same as the configurator's ORDER option codes but not all of them. So you can use http://vag-codes.info/ to double check.
  9. If you have a license of Adobe Acrobat you can export the options pages, select all text, change all text colour to black.
  10. 6 new Tonkinese Kittens born 19th October, Superb Mk III delivery: 30th October!

  11. OK - here goes. I managed to get the build sheet for my L&K photographed when it was still less than 24 hours off the transporter - it was taped to the boot floor. This meant I could then check that what I ordered had at least been built in to the car. First worry - very few of my option codes were listed - only a couple. Then I decoded the whole sheet using the site below, and found that in fact all my options WERE included, but no longer with the codes used in the ordering process. This was very helpful: http://vag-codes.info/ - note you can download all the known codes as well as use the online lookup. I was also expecting to find the sticker in the handbook but didn't have time to locate it in the car. Have a look at this attached picture of it, with my markup:
  12. Almost there! Update: NEEDS SETUP & VALET Registered and personalised plates fitted, moved to proper compound at the rear of the dealership, most of the cr*p washed off. Paid rest of deposit. Here are some pics from the previous location - it was too dark to get any today.
  13. As I said its only a possible problem and the parts are extremely similar. If the SS parts had been in a box, had come with the instruction leaflet (why not at least ship that?) and had the same shaped acc pedal I'd never have thought twice. As I'm asking the dealer to fit these, they've already said they can only fit genuine VAG parts.
  14. Bad luck - keep us posted. http://www.my-gti.com/2653/volkswagen-dcc-adaptive-chassis-control-design-and-function for reference mentions a safe mode...
  15. The black part is a very firm and solid rubber. Instructions attached - sorry for the delay! 5E1064200.pdf
  16. Update: STATUS 75: IN URGENT NEED OF VALET AND DETAILING. In dealer's rather far off gravelled compound, covered in shipping grime, autumn leaves, some mud, remnants of shipping materials and generally looking a right old mess. Rather wish I'd not seen it in that state, but I was able to get a picture of the option codes sheet (Big A3 page in the boot) and check that all the options ordered were there. (also all the right bits looked like they are in the right places). Finished paperwork, handed over reg. plate transfer forms, paid some of the deposit, agreed a handover date / time for next Friday.
  17. Over in the accessories thread there's been debate on what is EXACTLY the right part number etc for the Stainless Steel Pedals. Here's the update of my checking, including a purchase of a set from Skoda via TPS and from SuperSkoda. Skoda Accessory Catalogues and eshop in CZ list part number: 5E1 064 200 Super Skoda Site lists part number: 3V2 064 200 Pedals bought from TPS came in Skoda branded box, with fitting instructions Pedals bought from Super Skoda came in a jiffy bag, no fitting instructions The Clutch and Brake pedals appear identical in size / shape and have the same individual part numbers stamped on them, although the ones in the box look very slightly more refined in terms of the rear plastic. On the SuperSkoda pedals the tiny circular marks where the plastic moulding was attached to something else are slightly more roughly finished but without comparing multiple sets this could just be a variation. The accelerator pedals have different part numbers, subtly different appearance at the rear, are a different size and a slightly different profile. The part number stamped on the accelerator pedals from Super Skoda is still 5E2 721 647 A yet are supposed to be "3V2 064 200" The part number stamped on the brake and clutch pedals from Super Skoda is 5E1 064 200 (same as the TPS set). Googling super skoda's part number shows only results from their site(s) and no other links from any other site, Skoda or otherwise. Googling the Skoda part number shows links from different official skoda sites and others http://eshop.skoda-auto.com/cz/en/b2c/stainless-steel-foot-pedal-covers-octavia-iii--rapid-5e1064200x shows that Skoda are a listing a 5E part number for the SIII, where they have 3V part numbers for SIII where the accessory is uniquely new. Skoda lists no set of pedals with the same part number as SuperSkoda. Neither could TPS locate this RHD specific part number. In fact in the UK where only RHD pedals would be needed, there were 10s of the 5E1 064 200 set in stock, which strongly suggests they are appropriate for RHD cars. My conclusion is that there is a risk (make your own judgements please) that the SuperSkoda set of pedals may be counterfeit. If that's correct, the clutch and brake pedals appear 95%-98% similar, but the accelerator pedal is significantly different. In use they might be fine. I see no reason why Skoda has it wrong and SuperSkoda would be the ONLY site online where a new SIII part number could be available. On balance I can find no online views that suggest SuperSkoda would sell counterfeit parts. Please do form your own judgement, happy to be wrong here - but I would urge caution and stick with parts ordered from TPS or Briskoda Accessories for any safety-relevant application like this. As I'm paying the dealership to install these for me along with the mudflaps - I'll only be giving them the Skoda boxed pedals to install.
  18. One for the ladies? http://www.skoda-auto.cz/o-spolecnosti/akce-a-udalosti/pages/skoda-na-designbloku-2015.aspx Get google to translate this page. ŠKODA this year in Prague and fashion design show Designblok 2015 again presents an original exhibition. The event, whose central theme is freedom, will be held from October 21 to 27, 2015 at the Holešovice exhibition. 19. All money is the same. I just emailed my local TPS, they gave me 8% off. Great service, next day availability on anything with a VAG part number.
  20. My L&K has survived its night out in Sheerness and miraculously made its way to Oxford much quicker than I expected: STATUS 70: At Dealer. That's 2 months and 16 days from placing the order. No chance of a pickup this weekend but I'm in tomorrow to take a good look. Collection next Friday should be OK, which will mean the Mk II will not need tax or MOT!
  21. Mine has never missed anything but they were not surprised when I wanted to see the order on screen and check every last detail! Point being if then a mistake was made, the dealership wouldn't be to blame, rather than not knowing.
  22. Update: STATUS 39: VEHICLE SHIPPED LOCATION: 40002 PORT OF SHEERNESS Let's hope it doesn't get into any trouble whilst it's there: http://www.craptownsreturns.co.uk/2013/02/07/sheerness/
  23. Purchased at time of order - I went for the 2yrs/100K miles. I've replaced both Superb IIs just before 100K - and not needed the warranty - but decided I would in this case, as I could.
  24. I think this will be the kind of reboot that Microsoft had as a result of anti-trust, or the windows engineering team got when sustained engineering split from development after some major security flaws were exposed. Give it a few years and VW will be recognised for great cars with great engines and whilst there'll always be a faction of critics to keep them on their toes, folks will begrudgingly accept they turned it around. That's what I think is going to happen.
  25. I'm lucky enough to drive out from a garage in the mornings, which helps a lot. S2 never had the wiper, and on balance I'm glad I didn't order this. Perhaps the reason this is the only free option is that some consider it a must from a driving point if view but from a design perspective it looks awful!
