  1. Especially if they get 180bhp from that 1.4 lump.
  2. If it's a lighter car then the 1.4 should offer some quite sprightly performance figures.
  3. It doesn't have a particularly nice cabin, the dashboard feels too busy & cramped.
  4. It's now June, so production should now have started.
  5. But you're paying well over the odds for a VW & Audi. In those cases you're just paying for a name badge!
  6. Milton fluid's good stuff. However I would make it slightly stronger than the dilutions that they say on the bottle for sterilizing, about 25% stronger I find works really well & quicker too. (It's also good for cleaning your work.cups out with too... )
  7. Sorry, but that is not an unreasonable time. VW's Golf 1,4s can do it in around that time, as can the diesels. It's not a sporty timing at all that's quite leisurely, compared to the sportier models.
  8. It's a combination of that initial kick off & the consumption figures that seem to be the winners for me, in fact I tend to look at both. Personally I don't want something that's too slow away or has the lack of grunt that won't allow myself out of those awkward situations that I may accidentally find myself in & I need a bit of grunt to get myself out of. I wouldn't look for anything much less that what I've got, I suppose I could accept a 140PS diesel, but nothing less.
  9. Just bear in mind that the choice of engines and model choice is decreasing all of the time. NO 1,8TSi anymore, NO L&K either. So you'd be left with 140CR & small low powered petrol's unless you want to go for a vRS.
  10. Well a 1.4TSi with a 160PS engine would be much more acceptable than a weedy 1.2 petrol or 1.6TDi It won't sell well if it has very leisurely 0-62 timings.
  11. They could & can do a lot better than 122PS from a 1.4TSi. The Golf & Polo have more poke from a 1.4, so unless they want to catch a cold, they will need to consider 122PS as the base.
  12. Personally I like this one...
  13. Just need DSG, a 1,8TSi or 2.0 petrol & a pair of decent CR diesels like the 140 & 170... Bluetooth connectivity + MDI & I'll be happy!
  14. You got it... I drive any of these...
  15. Nope. I'm one of the few who can legally drive at 100mph where permitted. I regularly pass through towns at anywhere between 60-90mph without the fear of being nicked. And I'm not in the emergency service either.
  16. Wadda yer mean, he was doing the public a service.
  17. I must admit that one evening when I had a 90' minute meal break, I told my guard I was popping off to Tesco on the other side of town, in fact I shot down to Liphook & back in just a tad under 30 mins, just to see what the tunnels were like. I'll admit that they make the world of difference if you're going to Havant, Portsmouth & Chi. Through Hindhead in around 90-120 secs.
  18. As long as it doesn't go too far down towards the budget end of the market, it will be just fine.
  19. Best way to transit the tunnel is to use cruise control & set it to the speed shown on the out side of the tunnels. It's either 40 or 70!
  20. I only put that last post up as a bit of a warning. If you rev your engine hard then fine, but you have to watch the tunnel as Northbound it drops away quiet nicely & conversely Southbound it climbs quiet nicely too.
  21. FYI there's over 100 cameras & sensors in that tunnel with fully automatic & variable speed limits too, plus at each end there are two sets of SPECS (average speed cameras) as well. So try & go through like a loony, you will stand a very good chance of winning a free ticket worth £60 + 3 or more bonus points for your driving licence or if you're really stupid a free trip to one of the local magistrates courts for the forced removal of your driving licence! Either way you'll then be paying through the nose for your next 3-4 years car insurance as well.
