  1. Incidentally, I was out in the AX 1.5D (rofl) the other day and some ***** tried to race me in their 1.0 Nova. AND FAILED MISERABLY. It was comical to see, honestly. And I had 2 passengers in the car - an old granny in her 80s and my pregnant wife (who got very irate when aforementioned ***** glued themselves to the rear bumper after the failure to overtake).
  2. Watch out, say things like that and people will think you are talking about devonutopia!
  3. Doesn't do much for me either - but then, I'm glad ... I don't want to prefer the new one to my (not quite here yet) new one in a few years' time!
  4. You don't need standard forms to claim expenses from the Revenue. If you just write to them telling them the company mileage you've done, and the amount you've been paid in expenses, they will work out the excess you can offset against your tax. With nearly all additional income/expenses, the IR will assume they are the same year on year so you should get the relief through your tax code in later years even if you claim retrospectively for the past year. Then at the end of each year you can claim/pay the difference through your tax return or once again in writing to the IR.
  5. The aircon's just gone wrong on my (almost) 6 year old Laguna. :( Don't know the financial damage yet, but should do on Monday. That apart, it's not been a bad car for reliability apart from coil spring failure, ignition coil failure (warranty) and all brakes requiring replacing at 24k. Hopefully it'll be a bit better when I pass it onto the Mrs and take delivery of the Fab.
  6. I suspect the 2004/04 is a mistake TBH but you can't be that sure. A bit disappointing to see that one buyer says they failed to fulfil a successful bid - strangely one which was around
  7. They only go up to V speed rating according to their website, so not very useful for most of the vRS owners and the like. Apart from that, though, they have an OK range it would appear and the prices are good -
  8. I'm voting 36-40 although it won't arrive until September.
  9. I think Lee is dreaming. I've never seen anyone beat Autofinders'
  10. Ordered the beast just before going on holiday to Crete and waiting now ... and waiting! Build w/c 15 August and expected delivery early September. Thanks to this site for advice on where to buy it ... Brooklyn Skoda in Rugby has got the deal for me and is worth a look for anyone in the Midlands.
  11. You're still missing [/ before the final QUOTE] SteVRs! You should certainly get standard with metallic from a dealer for slightly less than you are discussing if you look hard.
  12. Drivethedeal (www.drivethedeal.com) are non pre reg and
  13. Sounds like my sort of price too ... I'd be interested in a pm if you don't want to publish the dealer's name openly.
  14. WTG Dave! I will certainly give Paul a ring as it's probably between Autofinders and Drivethedeal for mine ... given your wait I best order it now for a 55 plate!
  15. It's completely unacceptable for a dealer to sell you a car without pointing out that it's not taxed. They would normally sort the tax for you (asking you for a copy of your insurance certificate, if necessary, to do so) and add the charge to the invoice.
  16. Thanks for clarifying, Sonic. DtD are tempting me a lot although if Dave's goes OK I will at least speak to Autofinders to see whether they can do non-pre-reg, as they've just sold my Dad a pre-reg car at a very good price (and he was very happy with the transaction).
  17. I'm stuck around the middle of the list and not likely to move up any further, I don't think! Just the one PC processing ... and that's the one I have to use as well. But it IS on 24/7/365.
  18. I'm a member - but not a paid one. Is there a difference? I can certainly access the answers which I think requires you to be a signed-up member. I think what I can't do is search - but you can do that using google easily enough.
  19. Hi and welcome Matthew. The Mrs and I had a very nice holiday in Slovenia once upon a time. I recall quite a few old-style Skodas there then.
  20. The Skoda spreadsheet (referred to above) says
  21. I can't believe for any time at all that a PD100 with a PD130 engine is going to be cheaper to insure than a manufacturer standard vRS. I think you must be kidding yourself there, Jason. From the insurer's point of view - would you see it as lower risk to insure a car which is as fast (probably faster!) than a standard vRS but which has been hand rebuilt with lots of non-standard components, or one which is straight from the factory and has been designed as a unified concept?
