  1. So how are SEAT able to do it then?
  2. Probably, but'll you need to find someone with the right software, but equally as important someone who knows how to do it...
  3. I'm all for soft suspension, car manufacturers have been obsessed with handling for too long. Hard suspension, big wheels and low profile tyres do nothing for me. My commute isn't influenced by whether I can take a corner 10% faster, it's all about absorbing rough surfaces, potholes, excess standing water and doing it quietly and fuss free with minimal cabin intrusion. If getting this means my car rolls an extra 2 degrees on a 60mph B road, laps the Nurburgring a bit slower and results in me losing a game of Top Trumps to a photocopier salesman in his Audi A6 then bring it on.
  4. Hybrid or not, if it's diesel they're already on the back foot. When I bought my Kodiaq it was the only 7-seater SUV available with a petrol engine. Let's hope KIA have fixed their achilles heel.
  5. No, there isn't a way without plugging into the OBD port. DPF's work well when new, even when stressed. You're more likely to see issues from 3 years old.
  6. In the UK if the output of the headlights exceeds 2,000 lumen the headlight washers and self-levelling are required.
  7. My roof box is pretty big... Thule Rapid System Foot Pack - 757 Thule WingBar - 961 Hapro Traxer 8.6 Brilliant Black Roof Box
  8. Isn't MP4 the preferred format nowadays?
  9. £8,000 is a tad extreme, perhaps £4,000 - £5000...
  10. But crucially, it's the other way around compared to the UK, petrol is more expensive than diesel for you.
  11. I should have been clearer in my earlier post, I prefer plates with just the minimum requirements on them. I don't want Halfords or Wilko on the bottom of my plates. When I ordered the BS number, name and postcode from Demon Plates are all printed in transparent text, very discreet.
  12. If you're ordering the parts from a local Skoda dealer, perhaps ask them if you would be able to return the connector bar if it turns out you don't need it? Possibly not if they've had to order it in especially, but worth an ask.
  13. Not sure what fuel prices are like in Estonia. Here in the UK the difference between petrol and diesel is currently 5 pence (€0.06 EUR) per litre. Petrol £1.07 GBP / €1.20 EUR per litre or £4.86 GBP / €5.47 EUR per UK gallon Diesel £1.12 GBP / €1.26 EUR per litre or £5.10 GBP / €5.74 EUR per UK gallon Your 80,000 km annual mileage equates to 50,000 miles. The official fuel economy of the Kodiaq vRS is 34mpg (miles per gallon)... Here it would cost you roughly £7,499 GBP / €8,428 EUR a year in diesel fuel. Assuming an equivalent sized petrol engine drops from 34mpg to 28mpg (the recommended 15-20% reduction) then the increase in your annual fuel cost would increase to £8,678 GBP / €9,747 EUR so a difference of £1,179 GBP / €1,319 EUR, or €110 EUR per month. By the time you've factored in the higher purchase price of a diesel engined vehicle then the €110 EUR will fall significantly. The "cost" argument for choosing diesel over petrol when covering higher mileage no longer stacks up in the UK.
  14. Diesel is dead, If you need torque and petrol doesn't offer you enough it'll have to be electric. If you're towing buy the Kodiaq at the end of the lease and keep it long enough to allow electric battery ranges to improve.
  15. I read it here, page number 8... https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/878990/vehicle-registration-numbers-and-number-plates-inf104.pdf
  16. As you'll see from this thread, opinion varies, and that's from people who have fitted them themselves. - Some say buy the connector bar. - Some say you don't need the bar, you can just shorten the clips on the back of the reflectors. - Some say you don't need the bar, the reflectors simply replace the honeycomb panel i.e. a direct replacement. Personally I'd play it safe and go with option 1. Chances are that Skoda have changed the design slightly along the way resulting in different people having different experiences.
  17. @wen Do you fancy organising a group buy if the foam pads!?
  18. What's with all the supercars? How about a visually pleasing car for the masses?
  19. Great for those driving around in cars close to failing their MOT, not so useful for those who might have more value in their vehicles. If it's anything like the last scrappage scheme it is only eligible for vehicles aged 10 years or over. Given the fact that the difference between then and now is that most people who used to drive around in older cars and were able to benefit have already chopped them in against a leased car for circa £100 to £200 per month. A price for most budgets... Drive around any housing estate in all but the most deprived areas and on every driveway you'll see shiny new cars on PCH. I'm not entirely convinced a scrappage scheme is going to be as effective this time around.
  20. I used these... https://www.demonplates.com/?gclid=CjwKCAjw5vz2BRAtEiwAbcVILyUcG03ohatHL5WUZ4TcurcxdBvFfLY67vZWM-xLVW6uoOHgQzeMuhoCErIQAvD_BwE I wanted to avoid any logo's other than the required British Standard Mark (BS AU 145d).
  21. I've changed many VAG diesel fuel filters without priming the system afterwards. As long as you're careful and ensure as much diesel fuel remains in the fuel filter housing as possible then you'll be fine. Take it slow and steady to minimise the chances of introducing air into the system. I ensure all of the fuel in the old filter is allowed to drip back into the fuel filter housing before fully removing it. Some even top the fuel filter housing up with fresh fuel after inserting the new filter. Cycling the ignition a few times used to do the same job as priming the pump using diagnostics, but the later common rail (CR) engines don't automatically prime the fuel pump on the ignition, hence the recommendation to purge the system using a diagnostic tool such as VCDS.
  22. There aren't often many people around to admire the exterior... But then the benchmark at the time wasn't high...
  23. Is the additional foam material required to plug the holes available to purchase?
  24. The only thing I'd add is that Skoda or SEAT won't be overly concerned about the increased VED over £40,000, everyone's in the same boat. £320 sounds like a lot, but dilute that into the depreciation and it'll almost boil down to a rounding error. Increasing list prices is real, there is a genuine need to do it, car production isn't getting cheaper, it is certainly getting more expensive to design manufacturer and supply vehicles, however my point on the other thread is that this doesn't necessarily mean we always pay more, in times like this it means the margins of Skoda and their dealer network are squeezed as they offer increased discounts to shift cars, much like you've spotted on the Tarraco at Arnold Clark. I paid £29,000 for my brand new factory order 2018 1.4 TSI manual Scout with a couple of grands worth of options. Fast forward exactly two years and the same money would get me a higher specification, a bigger engine, diesel, and a DSG gearbox. Arguably a fair chunk more car for less money - two years later.
  25. Be careful, @DEL80Y offers great advice, I too was preparing to replace the DMF thinking it was getting noisy, when the garage dropped the gearbox I was a few hundred miles from the pressure plate boring it's way through the bell housing. It very nearly was "end of" but not due to the DMF.
