  1. Ordered a sticker for my new octy but have misplaced it. One of those annoying things, found the skoda motorsport one that I ordered with it but no sign of Briskoda one. Oh well will have to order another, have no idea where to put it when I get it, it will be an internal one. So have enjoyed reading this posting.
  2. Thanks Goochie, actually the dealership have said if I want more power they could chip it for me. I'll wait and see how I get on, my main drive is to work which is 25 miles, up some fairly steep hills. As long as it has enough power to get me out from behind slow lorries fairly quickly I'll be happy, and so far it seems to have that. I seem to be going much slower than I did in my Furby but looking at the speedo I'm actually not.
  3. Had to order the mats for my new octy separately, didn't come with the car. Chose rubber ones from Skoda dealer, fit beautifully and cost £22 for all four. Chose rubber mats because we live on a farm and they are easy to clean. Had carpet mats in previous car and rubber ones in car before that. For our lifestyle rubber ones are more beneficial. Have to confess we didn't realise a set of mats didn't come with the car, ordering the mats was an after thought.
  4. I think he already had a perceived idea of Skodas and this car didn't meet it but he couldn't bring himself to admit it, hence the strange review.
  5. Picked up my new car yesterday, so far so good, have had to drive it in pretty poor weather conditions (snow and ice). Feel a bit silly as couldn't work out where headlamp washers were and rang dealer to ask! However they were their usual polite selves but I daresay they had a laugh and I wouldn't blame them! Shall miss the fun speed of my Fabia VRS but am already appreciating the roominess of the Octy especially when taking out my parents. Am nervous buying a new car but fingers crossed it that it is reliable as the Fabia was.
  6. I liked it from the moment I first did a test drive, my second test drive was even better. Best little car I have ever had.
  7. The patterning on the dash immediately under the front windscreen is slightly different to the previous Fabia VRS (I have a 54), but only noticed this because the salesman pointed it out to me, told me everything else was the same.
  8. Shame we always have to make compromises..... Maybe your husband can have the larger car and then you can keep the Fabia and use his car when you need to give lifts for your parents.... Unfortunately he won't change his R reg Golf hatch and as we have had that from new and in vgc its worth more to us than anyone else. He doesn't like the fabia vrs, he seems to think its a bit girly, though he was very impressed with the octy estate.
  9. Well my vrs has done 21000 and most certainly does not feel tired. Having always had golfs or polos previously i would disagree about the trim levels, the skodas are as good as the vws. In fact I test drove both the polo sport and the skoda vrs on the same day and believe me there was really no comparison the skoda felt much more of a car. My husband was certain I would chose the vw over the skoda so it was quite a shock to him when I told him that even if the skoda had been the more expensive car I would have bought it. It has certainly lived up to all my expectations, and I get 55 mpg out of it on my normal run to work (which is 25 miles) and when I have to travel longer distances on motorways I get 63 mpg and thats travelling at speeds of 80 plus.
  10. Nice to know I'm not the only woman here. Think I've managed to put this thread on twice somehow, sorry everyone. Pixi, you will love it, I really wouldn't be changing mine but for necessity. Mine is also black, they do look good.
  11. I have been reading with interest the threads on the briskoda website and there seem to be very few women writing. Are there any other women out there who have a fabia vrs? I have had mine for 18 months, done 21000 miles and love it, the best little car I have ever had. I am having mixed feelings about having to change to an Octy 2 elegance estate in March, though i think this also looks a lovely car. I need lots more space because both of my parents have now become somewhat disabled. But I also need economy to travel back and for to work. So I have had to compromise on all fronts. I am no slouch but sometimes I don't think I drive my little furby vrs to the speeds that it was made for, too many speed cameras for my liking! As I'm now in my mid forties my husband tells me I'm getting over my mid life crisis that made me buy the vrs in the first place! But I have to say I will miss it.
  12. I drove a Golf R reg TDI 1.9 deisel GL model before my little furby vrs and I have found the brakes on the furby to be absolutely fantastic compared to those of the golf. Guess it must just be what your used to driving.
  13. My vrs has always made a sort of dinosaur groan from the rear brakes but this only happens when i am reversing very slowly. No sound from them at any other time. When it first happened to it to the dealer (this was at 200 miles)and they inspected it for me but found nothing wrong. The brakes work well and have done for the whole of my VRSs 21000 miles. Have put it down to just a little quirk of this particular car.
  14. Thanks for this info, it would have been useful as have had my fabia vrs for 18 months and we were told that rear mudflaps cannot be fitted. However am changing from VRS to new octy 1.9 elegance estate on March 1st due to increasing disability of my parents but if i wasn't i would have done this. As i drive country roads a fair bit felt the fabia vrs needed rear mudflaps to go with its front ones.
  15. Have just purchased on of these for 06 plates for practical reasons. Has anyone else got one? Are you pleased with it?
  16. We went there to look at Skodas and found them to be very pushy to the point of being rude, needless to say we took our trade elsewhere. I would advise anyone in this area to avoid this dealership and go to Winners, Cinderford or Capitol Skoda, Newport, the extra distance will be well worth it.
  17. Bought a Fabia VRS 2 years ago and have just had to change to an Octavia Estate due to parents becoming increasingly disabled. Great service with VRS, Mervyn, Adrian and Rob all extremely helpful, not pushy, and reception staff great too. Thanks Winners. I would recommend this dealership.
  18. Had a VW Golf TDI GL before that I loved and thought I wouldn't find a more fun to drive diesel, but the Fabia has exceeded my expectations so far. Anyone else as happy with theirs as I am with mine?
