  1. 2.0 is effortless to trundle the miles in. Loads of torque available when required to overtake, just keeps pulling. I have 2016 SEL dsg. I get 53mpg or more brim to brim without thinking about it. Boot swallow up loads of gear. I love it.
  2. Don't think you'd have any problems on the Cross Climates in the mountains after watching this. Although I live in the southern coast of England and its rare for it to snow, I took the plunge on Cross Climates due to extended tyre life compared to summers plus the reassurance that when the weather turns wet and cold they will still be a good performer. Its 4C now where I live and has been very wet with some horrendous driving conditions and I have been very pleased with them. They just grip like the road is dry and really are not at all upset where sheets of water occur that could induce aquaplaning Get the thumbs up from me.
  3. That button turns your front "assist" functions on and off. Which are Front Assist ( collision prevention) and or Lane Departure Warning. Looks like you car is not fitted with either as if you turn on Front Assist in my 2016 UK SEL it warns you have done so in the Maxidot screen. Hope that helps. I seem to remember reading front assist was optional in other markets.
  4. When you say don't use start stop do you mean you turn it off with the button in the console? Are you aware that raised idle could be due to having heavy battery demands. Like having ac on heated mirrors and lights. And if tdi engine DPF regeneration.
  5. Disagree that sound systems are all are shocking. Depends what year the car is. I had a work colleague who had 2014 Elegance and he had to put in a sub in the boot to get any bass out it. I got my 2016 SEL last year, he came out in it and was amazed how different it was. I've had quite a few bigger systems in cars over the years...small boot subs amps etc and in my car I'm quite happy with the quality to be honest. Changing the door speakers looks quite easy and also the tweeters too. Local audio centre quoted me around 400 to change them to some pioneers. Or Focals with separate cross overs for a bit more. I've not bothered as yet though and drive alot and love my tunes. I use mp3 on an SD card to Bluetooth streaming music from my phone. I do agree that the tweeters let too much mid through and can distort on some volumes but a simple capacitor mod can alter that. Just my pence worth.
  6. Ah now I see what you're after. ..for going rallying..
  7. When you say spot lights, do you mean you want to fully change the headlight or install different bulbs? Presume that you have halogens lights on your car? And if so the full beam is an H15 which is the Daylight running light and full beam combined. I have just installed Osram Cool Blue Intense H15 in my 2016 SEL that has the standard halogens. As recommended in post earlier in the year. Quite frankly they are a massive improvement. They are £20 per bulb. I also changed the H7 dipped to Osram Nightbreakers again an improvement over OEM bulbs.
  8. Appreciate you posting clear and concise conclusion to this issue. Good idea in removing the trim to monitor heat in and out of pipes to the heater matrix. Mine decided to give me colder air on drivers side about a week after a routine cambelt change. Cannot fault the garage for a known issue so took it back to them and they flushed it out twice hot and changed the coolant tank upon my request. It's alot warmer than it was before so I'm monitoring it for now. It's handy that the matrix can come out fairly easily. And thanks for giving us the cost you paid. Enjoy the warm cabin.
  9. That's sort what mine felt like. Try closing down the passenger vents and then put the air control to front vents only, (not in auto ) @24C temperature up the fan dial too. Then feel the difference between each side opening and closing the vents. My hands got cold driving last week was what I first realised, as although in auto, heat was not coming out the drivers side, (common indication of this fault). But cranking up the heat the passenger side vents in auto provided enough heat for the whole cabin.
  10. MY2016 65k miles.
  11. I'd advocate that the tpms on vw group cars is very good. Probably saved me from a high speed blowout on my 2005 Seat Altea. Frosty morning one day it went off so i pulled off asap. The wheel was boiling hot due to a frozen /dragging rear brake caliper. it clearly sensed a different rotational speed.
  12. Superskoda ones are quite frankly fantastic. I'm out alot needing alot of work gear in and out the boot in the dark and they make a huge difference.
  13. I have just suffered lack of heat on drivers side less than a week after a routine cambelt change. Luckily my garage has recovered it to some degree by hot flushing it twice whilst connected to ODIS diagnostics to run each pump (there are 3 on the tdi) to make sure it was really flushed fully. Expansion tank has been changed to 5Q0121407M too. But I suspect the heater matrix may have to come out eventually, we will see. I'm keeping an eye on coolant colour each day. Coolant had gone orangey rusty brown after four days should be pink. G13. I wish I'd replaced the expansion tank earlier in the year for ~£20 hey ho.
  14. Men discussing brollies on a car forum....it'll be floral seat covers next
  15. Look on the vcds forum there is a map of users on a sticky then private message them. Might be few and far between on their given that you're in Australia! Or buy it from a distributor in your country.
  16. What suggests you need to clean it? It shouldn't be contaminated as that's what the air filter is for which you are changing very regularly anyway. I see this as a bit of a placebo effect. If I clean it the car will feel better. The only way to really tell it's not working correctly is to use diagnostic software such as VCDS to see the actual air mass measured by the sensor and the specified values the ecu needs. There were certainly issues with Vw group MAF sensors failing alot on early Mk4 golf's and such platforms but that was years ago. If it fails you won't have boost. If you do proceed to clean it, it's unlikely to need any faults erased. Just leave the ignition off during the clean.
  17. Could well be shorter runs doing in your mpg. I've a 2.0 tdi dsg and can get 53-55mpg. I give it some beans fairly often and sport mode gets me moving past slow traffic when required.
  18. That's no ordinary home garage, with an air line on a runner and lifting beam bolted to the ceiling!
  19. Vcds log outputs interval numbers to the CSV but I cannot quite figure what it is, so I "cheated" in excel to get it to plot out correctly and just did 1,2,3 till the end of the log. It was about 15minutes. It was interesting to see how stable the coolant temperature is maintained at 90C, it flat lines at the end. I don't think a mechanical thermostat would achieve that close control so the three electrically controlled cooling systems must play a part in that. Anyone else think of a log graph they want to see next.
  20. https://www.powerflex.co.uk/products/Octavia+5E+up+to+150PS+Rear+Beam-3246/1.html Sell both trolley jack sill adapters or the chassis mounts that once in stay permenantly in place. I've not used them myself but they look a good option.
  21. Here is the Map of Owners of vcds. Try contacting a member near you via private message as a first. Regards. I have VCDS but I'm in Brighton which i quite a way for you to travel!
  22. So can do you reduce moisture on the evaporator when you stop by turning off AC before hand to allow it time to evaporate?
  23. -copy granddaughters cd's to sd card Amundsen Mib 2 has two slots one for Nav and one spare. You can connect a phone via Bluetooth and use the phones music player (perhaps you've already done that?) or as quoted apple carplay or Android Auto but to use that platform you'll need the units Smartlink activated via a dealer @~£150 depending on dealer. There was a thread a few weeks back on its pros and cons. If you want the Nav to work you'll need a Genuine Skoda sd card else it will not work as there is an encrypted file on them. I'm not sure how you would download the latest maps as the Skoda portal asks for the cars VIN to access the correct files and as your car did not have Nav to start with I wonder if you will be able to access them? @SashaGraceis the resident expert in all thing infotainment related and is always very helpful. As to costs, its not like buying a head unit in the the good old days for a couple of hundred! Probably more like upwards of £600, as to change the system out fully, you'll need both the glovebox unit and the "screen" (which from what I've seen on here are plug and play). But it's certainly doable.
  24. to second what @langers2ksays, Admaps or Controller Maps are very useful things to see what's "active/configured " in the adaptions lists, 5F on my car has nearly 900 rows of code. I seem to remember that if you make adaption changes VCDS creates a log of this in the logs folders, perhaps @langers2k could confirm this? I've never had to go back to it yet, as always record all my steps manually with screen shots and don't attempt things I'm not confident to change. Hope you find what you are looking for.
  25. So i got it booked in for £430 in a few weeks time and they provide me a courtesy car for nothing which is great. But I was gobsmacked when another local Indy got back to me with a price of £550 +Vat....more than the main dealer £549 fixed price. Granted the dealer makes more money on other jobs and costs arent easily comparable to smaller operation. Its quite a lottery for this job by all accounts.
