  1. Nope just a 2008 Elegance.... so I suppose not!
  2. Superchips is awesome... Easy DIY job and a 7 day money back guarantee !
  3. Nice car... handsome Cheap luxury motoring IMHO Enjoy!
  4. Well according to figures up from 160 to 207 bhp Torque is up from 250nm to 348 nm and extra 75 lb ft in old money Feels more actually and the engine still feels smooth.... its like a whoosh! Not sure about airbox mods,,, standard filter should be fine? Insurance is an extra £200 extra for a 45 year old fart like me! Adrian S Flux Well worth it.. I prefer the totally bog standard look of my silver Octavia "Taxi " on standard 16 inch wheels, debadged to keep them guessing.
  5. Just received my Bluefin from Superchips... uploaded it to my Octavia 1.8TSi WOW I now drive a bullet! The car has been transformed, the way the car surges forward in 3rd, 4th, 5th and even 6th is incredible! And I have not even put any V-Power in her yet! Granted its just an elegance in "Taxi" Silver but with 40mpg, one of the quietest engines I have ever heard, NO timing belt to worry about, no DPF either.... is the 1.8 TSI the car to own?
  6. Ow do! well I will see after tomorrow... its pretty quick at the moment in standard form! The Superchips fella said it will significantly change the car or my money back! Pity she looks like a taxi lol!
  7. Thanks.... A Bluefin remap for her I think... Going to keep standard looks and scare the VRS brigade!
  8. Well people ramble on about the engine.... but what about everything else??? chassis suspension, gearbox, brakes, switches, seats lights all get used The engine is designed to run like this and if oil is changed will last forever? In a year how often are some of these used? My friend got a BMW 330D with 140,000 on the clock , amassed in 1year .... he saved 12 grand, it is like a new car apart from the speedo say 141,000 miles! Newest with highest mileage for me every time Mileage is a number, how many people look and say " ohh look at that its a 2010 plate with 80K" Nope they see 2010 plate car!
  9. Probably get dissed nit why on earth does anyone live with wheels as big as that! potholes, speed humps ££££ for tyres.... all because they look good parked up?
  10. Newer.... IMHO Car Giant are great! They have a VRS 170 CR TDI 2010 plate DSG in red with all extras Granted it might have 80K on the clock but I have seen it sat inside and it looks brand new... for 10 grand thats half price!
  11. Hi all Picked her up last night from Car Giant in London... 2008 Octavia 1.8 TSi elegance in Brilliant silver Looks boring on 16 inch wheels, but she can really shift and after years of diesel clatter, an air of calmness now at the traffic lights! So what mods can I do apart from the REVO remap? Thanks to this great site, which inspired me to go the Skoda route!
  12. Blimey seems cheap... are they all 5 speed... the Bora is a really good drive in 115 bhp form Loads to chose from and all the ones on here are sold!
  13. Hi all After the disappointment of not getting a 2008 Octavia TSI 1.8 I have been looking at a mark 1 Octavia VRS... seem quite a few around, is it a good buy.. I have a budget of £4k She seems the same as my Bora TDi Cheers
  14. Remapping???? tell me more who does what and what do you get for your ££££`s?
  15. Get a 1.8 TSi petrol.... pulls like a diesel and no cambelt to worry about lol
  16. Great looking motor... Skoda could really make it look meaner if they tweaked that front grille?
  17. Shhhh we do not want everyone to know how good this engine is... 160 bhp plenty of pull from 1500 rpm, NO DPF horrors, 40 mpg and best of all no dreaded timing belt Who needs a diesel? The 1.8 tsi in any form is the best kept secret in the Skoda lineup
  18. Have you considered a 1.8 TSI L&K.... 1.8 TSI has no timing belt to worry about, L&K has all the toys including leccy drivers seat, maxidot, xenons, MFSW... Might not have the aggressive looks of the VRS, but IMHO more of a wolf in lambs clothing ... bluefinnable to +200 bhp! Great car and quite rare!
  19. Why not go for a VRS petrol...? sure you don`t get as much MPG but no possible Flywheel, DPF or injector problems?
  20. I`m looking at the Diesel version myself and for me personally it does not make sense.... Firstly the TDI costs about £1000 more to buy than the petrol which on my annual 12,000 miles would save £350 a year in fuel over the TSI I would need to keep it 3 years to recoup the money... seems like the price between diesel and petrol is getting wider every week? And... more problems with the dual mass flywheel, DPF and servicing ... why take the risk? Many fall into the trap of "Gotta be cheaper" My mate has a BMW 320D and paid £2000 more than the 320 petrol he has to have the 320d for 15 years to get his money back??? But if you like the way it drives then go for it!
