Aero inserts on 19” Alloys
Yes, but they weren't. Bought a pair off eBay rather than traipse back to the SEAT dealer.

Aero inserts on 19” Alloys
That's the removal tool for the VW wheel nut covers . I think the VW ones are better as the fill the hole so it doesn't get mucky aaround the nut covers, and they don't fall off, yet are easier to remove, than the Skoda ones (although I haven't tried with our Karoq, I'm basing that on the Ateca we have), That only came with the above tool, the tweezers wern't there.

Sorted now, thanks.

Oh - do they not exist at all now?

Data sticker location in boot?
Recently acquired Karoq. No data sticker in handbook etc so pulled the spare wheel out but the matting didn't simply lift up and the polystyrene surrounds are held in place with large plastic "studs". Didn't want to start ripping stuff out randomly - is the data sticker in a specific place, please?

Karoq cam belt change - start saving now !
Getting very off topic here....the VTEC system doesn't do anything until around 3500RPM and really wants to be around 5500RPM. They go well then - but you could probably count on the fingers of one hand the number of Jazzs that have ever been driven at those revs!

Karoq cam belt change - start saving now !
My wife had a mk1 Jazz and then a mk2 - our son-in-law drives the 2009 mk2 now. He's not into cars at all and it's just been MOT and the advisory list was...extensive! Our daughter has a 2014 mk2 too. So I keep an eye on a Jazz forum and it seems the usual Jazz drivers (old folks ) really don't like the newer Jazz's. There were a couple who rejected hybrid Jazz's. I think it's yet another of those "they don't make 'em like they used to" things. Honda UK customer service is now useless (so same as eveyone else), coupled with the dealers. Many of the excellent indie dealers have closed down, including the two near us who were both well regarded. They got replaced by an insane (for a Honda dealer) glass palace and their customer service is diabolical - we take the cars to a servicing garage that spun off from one of the dealers. There was talk of Honda pulling out of Europe - it's even more of a marginal brand in the rest of Europe than it is in the UK. We used to get in little Jazz convoy's on the road into town - now they're getting to be quite a rare sight.

New (to us) Karoq
Phew = thank Goodness ours has Prinacy 3's . I put the pressures up to 34 this morning - will see how that goes. Wife has taken it out for the first time with only minor drama caused by the DSG selector not looking exactly the same as the one in her Tiguan. Separately: I knew it didn't have these but I'm bemused by the lack of wheel arch trims. Pictures of Karoqs, including in the brochures, generally show them but looking around the dealer they were only on odd cars. I was convinced daughters Ateca didn't have them but she was here yesterday and it does. I reckon they saved the Tiguan from damage when a bus swiped the front wing - left lots of paint but it all polished off.

New (to us) Karoq
Apparently tyre fitters don't like fitting Bridgestones as they're so stiff. I had them from new on a Merc and it was like driving on iron rings. Changed them for Michelin Primacy's and they transformed the car. The Karoq we bought has Michelin Primacy's - which is good, except that, as I want to change them, they'll probably last for ages.

New (to us) Karoq
To be fair, other people on the Tig mk1 forum were adamant their's didn't do it. I never drove another mk1. Daughter's Ateca that she got a few years ago was immediately a more 'settled' drive. Been reading the past thread here about tyre pressure - I ran the Tig at the recommended 36PSI (there was also a comfort pressure of 33PSI) so was a bit surprised to find Karoq's pressures are 2.1 bar (30PSI) and on my gauge the pressures were 1.95 to 2.0bar - they did look low, even allowing for tyres always looking a bit underinflated. I guess Karoq will be a bit lighter but I'm thinking I'll up them to perhaps 33PSI - if nothing else to try a protect the wheels a little better from potholes.

Thanks - I just can't quite get my head around the different offsets. I think the outside face will sit in pretty well the same place. They're 16" with 65 profile tyres so they're great on pot-holed roads too! If I've got to buy new tyres for them though, then I might as well just buy Cross Climates for the standard wheels.

New (to us) Karoq
Oddly the petrol blue colour has disappeared off the configurator in the last couple of days. I did look good in the brief sunny spell we had this afternoon! I do have a set of winter wheels and tyres from the mk1 Tiguan. I know they'll physically fit but not sure about the offsets. The tyres are very old now anyway. I only ever drove in snow twice - bit deceptive actually, as the car would take off from rest as if it was on dry tarmac, but lateral grip on corners was decidedly iffy and the ABS went mad on stopping. If changing tyres on the "family fleet" I fit Cross Climates now - got them on daughter's Ateca. She's done 40K on them. Need changing soon. If I could p/x the Michelin Primacy 3's on the Karoq then I would!

New (to us) Karoq
Well, I suppose it depends how much they have to pay for them. The margin the dealer is making on yours seems about right, they pay VAT on the difference, so there's £500 gone. Considered a mk2 2019 Tiguan Match that a neighbour was selling as the new Tig R-Line he ordered 2yrs ago is about to arrive. He paid £23,500 for the old one (inc a few options) and sold it to a trader for £22.500. He's paying £30K for his new R-Line - the spec he's ordered would be £39K now.

New (to us) Karoq
Bit of an impulse purchase - had a late mk1 Tiguan 2.0TDi 4Motion DSG from new (Sept 2015). First ever VW and it's been frankly brilliant, although I suppose, as it's mainly my wife's car, it hasn't exactly been tested hard. The VW dealer, Inchcape's VW Wirral (I refuse to set foot in their Chester branch), I have to say have been excellent on the service side and to my mind we were going to change to a mk2 Tiguan. However my wife decided it was too big. 🤷♂️ On a bit of a whim we went into Michells at Ellesmere Port and eventually ended up with a Mar 22 1.5TSi SE L DSG, in petrol blue. Only done 4K miles and looks like new. Can't say I'm thrilled about the price of such cars – we got the Tiguan new, the dealer found us one in the exact colour and spec we wanted and it came in 8 days and with a massive discount, but things are still different at the moment, and I wanted to get out of the Tiguan as the All In cover finishes this month and it feels like tempting fate to keep running it. Reading of Ad Blue and cooling system woes terrifies me! Driving Karoq It’s obviously apparent that the grunt of the diesel isn’t there, and, while I did like the sure-footedness of 4Motion, I think its independent rear suspension made the car feel like it was rocking from side to side (other people said they couldn’t feel it) but it’s immediately obvious to me that Karoq doesn’t do it so to me it’s a nicer drive.

Karoq cam belt change - start saving now !
Coming from late mk 1 Tiguan, had ours done at 5yrs / 30K too. I contacted VW Germany at the time and got the mileage only answer of 130K. When I asked why VW UK says 5yrs thye stopped responding. It is interesting though, that on the Tiguan forum I use there have been a few failures recently on 2.0 TDi's, all, I think, just at slightly less than 5yrs. One had an apporved used warranty and there was some uncertaintly about whether they'd cover it as they couldn't determine the cause, but in the end they did. There's a £5K consequential loss limit on the policy which I thought might be an issue, but maybe it's just regarded as "the engine" rather than a consequence of the belt failing. If I was in the same position again of having a 5yr old diesel then I think I'd get it done, especially if keeping the car for a few more years.

All in One Policy vs Actual Practice at the garage?
Was this a minor service? It reads like they changed the brake fluid - is that correct? Coming from VW / SEAT I don't believe they routinely plug the computer and do a diagnostic. We had an issue getting All In on the SEAT as it used to have to require an inspection before being applied to the vehicle - it threw up a load (like a page full) of faults which caused a lot of shuffling of feet at the dealer as the car had had a major service a couple of weeks before (while still under warranty). They fixed them all FOC.

Vehicle Service - Red and Amber Items - FUD or serious items to watch out for?
VW issued a bulletin years ago telling dealers that a light misting on shocks was OK - apparently dealers were changing them under warranty. Slightly weirdly while our Tiguan was in at 7yrs old/ 35K miles having a failed glow plug replaced under All In the dealer also replaced the rear shocks. The apparantly told VW they were leaking so All In covered them. I looked at the video they sent, and then back at the one from the service 8 mths prior, and they looked exactly the same yet weren't even commented on at service. They nearly always mentioned rust / lip on the edges of the discs, but added that the pads were fine. So I took that as warming me up for insisting the discs must be replaced when the pads wore out.

Karoq Order
Thanks - yes I was wondering what people had got in terms of discount, although it is possible Skoda is making the dealers give up some margin. VW did that on the Tiguan we got new in late 2015 - but there was still another £3K off from the dealer, so ~20%, around £6K, overall. However it doesn't seem like the same sort of discounts are available on Skoda (they stilll are on VW if you check broker etc pricing). I'm in the slightly odd position of having given the dealer an order yesterday to get the extra 'summer sale' £1000 PCP contribution (so £2500 in total) and they're now trying to secure a car. My order is fully cancellable, but I do want the car, and need it as quickly as possible.

Karoq Order
Can I ask if people are getting discounts on their orders (over and above any PCP contribution)? Getting mixed messages on availability of SE L - dealer rolls eyes on lead-times, but the Skoda website shows a fair number of cars at various dealers.

Help! 69 plate 1.0 TSI SE manual clutch gone after 2721 miles!!!!
Just found this on a search - the first part has already been dealt with. The second part, to do with transport mode - the car is put in this mode from the factory and does things like shut off all non-vital electrical systems to preserve the battery but it also limits engine speed. So I guess they're saying that perhaps excessive clutch slipping happens which is exacerbated by the anti-corrosion treatment which together overheat the clutch. If you've ever seen cars driven on and off ships, and, especially, reversed on to the top of car transporters, it makes you wince.

2.0 TDI EA288 cambelt
Electronic probably isn't right - they seem to be referred to as switchable. There's a picture here: You can get non-switchable versions of the pump. So maybe some models use them and some don't, although I'd be surprised by that. I think the switchable pump is just over £100 - so if you got the job done for £350 (inc VAT?) that seems very good going. But then I always seem to end up paying top whack!

2.0 TDI EA288 cambelt
I'm getting prices around £500 to do this - apparently due to the extra cost of the 'electronic' pump. Did that get mentioned when you had yours done?
