  1. No PDs are affected and not all CR are affected. Whether the recall is an engine update or an engine update and AD Blue retro-fit (highly unlikely).. If your car is remapped then it will wipe it clean so obviously no one will be getting it done if the car is mapped. There is no existing law saying you have to have any manufacturers recall carried out. Also all the affected cars will pass Euro Emmisions with or without the cheat software so there will be nothing stopping the car getting through an MOT with or without the software. So there is nothing to worry about. Just like any recall if you want it doing then you can get it done free by VW.. if you don't then don't...
  2. It could be worse.. you could have bought a brand new Vauxhall or ....(insert french car here).... and it would have depreciated by £1500 every month lol
  3. Did you end up getting the turbo actuator set up properly in the end? If you need to know the channels + values let me know . You will need a miti vac and VCDS. Dont forget to put the clip + green loctight on the actuator arm aswell.
  4. Yes the emissions scandal as a whole is 100% the reason for the larger drop in value... Wierd how my 2.0 CR 170 mk2 octy vrs isnt affected and yours is.. mine is the CEGA engine code.. might be due to age? Mine was registered 2009 but built 2008. I can't see a slightly older version of the same engine producing less emissions..
  5. Its pretty obvious you wouldn't go in for the recall....
  6. In the US only 9 of the 50 states even test emmisions so it doesnt even effect most of the country lol. As far as I'm aware its only California that has the stricter emmisions that certain 1.6tdi and pos a few 2.0 tdi common rail engines wont pass without a recall (detune).. Seems abit rich for a country like America with all its smoke pooring tuned diesel trucks in 41 out of 50 states to kick off about VW trying to cheat the California emmisions regs.. especially when the engines were designed to and do pass EU5
  7. The retail prices are exactly the same at all VAG dealers/ TPS. The discount given may have been different Dealers have less incentive to sell as they sell 90% to their own workshop
  8. I work at TPS and they sell to the public.. have been for years! Nothing dodgy about it either. Retail customers pay retail price just like if they walked into any VAG dealership. The advantage for retail customers being we have 12 people on the end of the phone to take orders and a massive warehouse full of parts. I have worked in dealerships and they have 2-3 parts staff whos main job is to serve the techies in the workshop and alot smaller stores. Trade customers pay trade prices (discount varies on the size of their business and how much they spend with us). Taxi's also get discount but have to collect. We only deliver to garages with an account (cash or credit) and cannot deliver to any residential address. Why would we turn away paying customers? Simples..
  9. Mk2 Octavia are 5x112 VW t5 transporters are 5x120 pcd (same as BMW/ Range Rover). Your steel wheels will be from a VW Caddy not a transporter Most other VAG are 5x112 (except Q7 and Toureg which are 5x130 because they are built on the Porsche Cayennne chassis and the smaller cars polo/ fabia/ ibiza/ UP!/ citigo/ A1 etc which are 5x100) You need wheels from a mk2 octavia, mk5/ mk6 golf, Touran, A3 2005>, A4/A6, Passat, 2k caddy van etc
  10. Sounds like your A/C pump is noisy. When A/C is on the noise stops. When off it rattles. You can confirm this by removing the alternator belt that runs the A/C pump and starting the car. If the noise is no longer there then you have norrowed the noise down to either the A/C pump or the alternator. It is most likely to be the A/C pump as its a VERY common fault and the noise starts + stops depending on whether the A/C is on or off but obviously thats up to the garage to diagnose with the car in front of them
  11. £30 "Rhino universal splitter" fit however you want it too with self tapers and washers. Its flexible and wont mark so in the rare event that it hits a speed bump or curb etc it will not scratch or loose shape . Standard Height Lowered on coilovers
  12. All genuine pads I'v fit (thousands) have TRW stamped on them.. the calipers are TRW aswell.. except the brembo calipers where the pads are also brembo
  13. Pagid dont make any original pads for Skoda. TRW make all the VAG pads except the Brembo pads (with the seperate sensors eg Q7 6 pots) TPS now do Genuine ECO pads and discs for most VAG cars over 4 years old (not Audi's). They are very competetively prices and in most cases are cheaper than Pagid/ Mintex/ Brembo non gen pads + discs. They are still made by VW. The way they make them cheaper is by using a generic compound for all the pads instead of slightly different compounds for each model. The packaging is also plain to save money. They fit the same as the more expensive genuine pads + wont rattle or squeek like the Pagid/ Mintex/ brembos
  14. Price + part number on Nearside door lock please ( i assume its a 3dr? ) pic of the connector would be usefull aswell if poss. No rush tho
  15. Sounds like it needs a regass Air in the A/C pipes instead of A/C gas
  16. When you say you have checked the timing.. have you put the crank tool on and the 2 pins (cam and fuel pump)? Or just visually checked it? Its either timing out or a faulty cam or crank sensor.. or wiring to the cam/ crank sensor
  17. The carpet can be removed. Seats out.. side trims out + unless you want to remove the dash then you will need to cut the carpet under the centre dash 1 side or both sides with a stanley knife. You wont see the split once it has been re fitted because the cut will be behind the centre console side trims. Done this many a time on the old 3B passats when they let water in through the pollen filter. Used to be carpets and underlay hung up all over the workshop. Its the underlay that takes the longest to dry.. the carpet isnt too bad
  18. Speedo will be out if you ran 225/40 19 Standard 18" on the mk2 octavia run 225/40 18. When you go up a size you should drop 5% sidewall to keep the speedo as close to the original as possible. 225/35 19 is the tyre to go for. But you could argue the standard wheels are 8.0" wide and the 19s are 8.5" wide so 235/35 19 will also be fine and will give plenty of give (like the 225/40 18s).
  19. Iv ran 225/35, 215/35 and 235/35 on my mk6 golf + my mk2 octavia vrs. 215/35 are too small unless your really low. 235/35 caught the arches unless the wheels are a high offset et45/ et50 ish or the car is high (lowered on springs/ not mega low on coilovers) 225/35 are just right for coilover height. If you are wanting more meat then 235/35 is the way to go not 225/40
  20. A couple of "slightly edited" shots from Scarborough 2night (it was dark and i took the pics with my Galaxy S5 not a propper camera lol )
  21. The FR rears should fit m8.. the leon reference sport seats are same without the FR logos but come in black/ red
  22. Seat Leon FR seats have bigger bolsters and are a different shape.. If thats the shape you are after then they are suprisingly cheap.. iv seen a few sets go for £250 on fleebay.. they do have the FR logo though.
