  1. I am considering fitting Marangoni Meteo HP winter tyres, size 225/50V17 (Kwik Fit - £350 including fitting), to my Yeti. I'll wait until the end of November to do this but was wondering if anyone has these tyres fitted on previous cars? If so, what were they like in terms of grip etc in wintery conditions? As it looks like another cold winter in store!
  2. I spotted a red Yeti on Lanzarote, as we drove from the airport in our crappy hire car (Astra) south, to the villa in Playa Blanca. I wouldn't be suprised if there was a Skoda dealership on Lanzarote as most of the (red) taxi's were new Octavia's and Superbs? It was such a relief to get back into the SM after driving the astra around for a week
  3. Anyone considering a remap, petrol or diesel, may want to read this first ( from the Tiguan forum) http://volkswagenownersclub.com/vw/showthread.php/19768-If-you-want-to-APR-remap-your-2010-Tiguan-ECU...?

    Head Lights

Thanks TP and Terfyn, I just may upgrade mine after our holiday.

Is changing the bulbs on the Yeti very difficult? Only asking as I had Philips Extreme bulbs fitted on my last car (Mazda MPV) Mazda carried out the work as it involved removing the front bumper, battery and some of the heating system :(
  6. I agree with davecarter on design of the 'Juke'. Funny enough my neighbour works at the Nissan plant in Sunderland, he has a Qashqai and Micra (can't blame him really there heavily discounted to staff). I overtook a truck with a load of unregistered Jukes on, a few days ago, heading north upthe A1, possibly to Scotland? This morning saw a red Juke driving down the main high street here, definately has a strong micra resemblance. In my opinion, one of the better looking crossover vehicles is the Range Rover Evoque, on sale next year. Not a qashqaiwannabe by any stretch of the imagination, but £30k for the base model !
  7. RogN - sounds like it was quite a hard core 4x4 course, so well done Sir! My monster's only the 2WD version but i've still driven over some pretty rough ground and the big suspension copes very well.
  8. I enjoyed reading your holiday account Your right about the Yeti when driving long distances, you've got the high up view, a hushed engine and forgiving suspension all make it a wonderful drive As you say unlike larger SUV's it's a doddle to park too.
  9. myself, wife and with our 2 dogs in the boot, drove back from a nice day out at Cragside, Northumberland today. On the twisty B roads the monster was averaging well over 60 mpg (driven quite fast but safely), this went down to a very respectable 52mpg on the motorway whilst doing 80-90mph. This is with Thule aero cross bars fitted. I also increased the tyre pressure yesterday to 40psi in the fronts and 42 in the rears, maybe this is the reason the fuel economy has improved? MY monsters the 2WD 110 CR TDi version
  10. I was in a Lidl carpark, a few weeks ago, waiting for the missus to get a few drinksand snacks for our day out in Cragside Northumberland (with the kids and dogs), when my local councillor walked over and was asking about the monster. He was thinking about trading in his aging RAV4, and quite fancied another diesel SUV but with better fuel economy. He seemed very impressed by the choices of engine and trim and said he would drive to Silbury Skoda and see if they had a Yeti demonstator in ( which they do)
  11. http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/carreviews/grouptests/256960/mini_countryman_vs_skoda_yeti.html I read somewhere else? the Countryman has many hundreds of orders even before it comes on sale. Such is the mentality of lemmings.
  12. Looks like your monster is right at home in them kind of settings. Glad you enjoyed your stay in the UK.
  13. Thanks TP No ESP (I think it should be standard on every car) but it has ASR, and yes it all seemed to work rather well when called upon
  14. Well I'm driving my 2 youngest girls to the Horse riding school like we do every Sunday, going up a fairly steep bank doing 40mph, when this silver Honda civic 03 reg (I remember that part!) didn't look to his right as he pulled out of a junction in front of me at the point were I was maybe 10 - 15 feet away from him! Immediately I slammed on the brakes, tyres were screeching, and I think every braking safety device must of kicked in at this point as my Yeti ended up in the opposite lane and I avoided a collision. I'm certain the Honda driver made a genuine mistake as he and his girlfriend made apologetic gestures when both vehicles had stopped, so no bad feelings I guess. The only injury was my youngest has a small scratch on her arm and I was a little shaken up as I've never had to do this kind of manoeuvre before. :( If I had braked half a second later it would of been a different post! Thankfully this car has fantasic braking power I think of the brakes as a 2 tone effect - as you press the brakes for every day driving, and when needed the pedal seems to go a little further when you truly need stopping power!
  15. I've just been watching Honest John's video review of the Mini Countryman. He says it's main rivals being the Nissan Juke and Skoda Yeti. I can see these selling well as people will follow badges. Not to my taste
  16. The white paint job looks great I think on the Yeti...enjoy!
  17. Ford's already got the Kuga, will this jacked up Fiesta be called the Kub? http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/autoexpressnews/256684/fiesta_4x4_first_pictures.html On the subject of crossovers, the honestjohn homepage' Top Five Reviews' - the first 4 cars are crossovers with the Yeti coming in 3rd place. Could this mean the crossover will replace the hatchback in a few years as the people's choice?
  18. Nice colour. Enjoy the new car CT 17!
  19. Congrats Kitten & Macdemon on the 60 plate Yeti! Let us know how the DSG gearbox fares?
  20. The lap times not mentioned, but it would be interesting to see it. Thanks Steve, I just thought it was some random guy thrashing his own car round the track I'd have a go round the Nurburgring myself if Skoda gave me lend of a remapped 170 TDi for the day!
  21. Came across this video on YouTube. A 1.8 TSI Skoda Yeti driven around the famous Nurburgring. Someone had to to it! Anyone from here?
  22. BigHusky

    saw a yeti!

Seen 2 driving around country roads in northumberland, 1 in newcastle city centre, a S trim judging by alloys at the Metrocentre car park and 2 close to where I live. In fact a 4x4 TDI SE drove by me this morning on way to the gym! They seem to be fairly popular up here.
  23. I am suprised they even included the Volvo XC60 in this test as it prices start from £27,495 (upward to nearly £40k) plus it's a larger car then the others tested. Surely it's more comparible to the Audi Q3, BMW X3 etc? I also have had no issues with headroom (5ft 11) I've looked at many crossover tests on German motoring web sites and again the Yeti always comes out number 1
  24. This is the last day of our weeks break in North Yorkshire, showing Thule roof bag (340 litres) mounted on Thule aero bars. As the dogs pretty much take all of the boot space! We toured all over the North York moors (the roof bag being left behind at our lodgings) managing an average of 55 mpg even travelling up 25 degree inclines with 2 adults, 3 kids and the dogs on board! Although on the trip there only averaged 38.1 mpg at 80-90 on the A19 :S Still the roof bag did make the aerodynamics seem shed like. On the return journey - 45-48mpg again at the same kind of speeds. The oil reaching it's ideal temperature does make quite a diffence in fuel consumption. Yeti's spotted ... 1 (aqua blue) by my oldest daughter as we passed a car park in Pickering I believe. Also seen the new Mitsubishi ASX in white travelling toward me around the same area. I had to keep reminding myself this car has only 108 bhp with 2WD as I drove quite briskly up and down the north york moors (an old Range Rover seem to be struggling in front of me). Again as mentioned by others on this forum, the handling is truly amazing  What a brilliant car!
  25. Hi Mick, Rear of front seats measurement up to boot lip is: 161cm. This is with passenger seat in normal position but could be increased slightly if the passenger seat was moved further forward. Hope that helps?
