  1. If the UK gov go ahead with this stupid idea - think of the landfill, there is allready a nasty add on (rather like a freeview box) available from halfords. I had to fit a temporary replacement standard radio/cd earlier this year as my stream failed under warranty, took about 6 months to replace so I have all the required parts from fleebay, if you want info on this let me know. In the next year or 3 I am sure (if this stupid thing goeas ahead as I say) I am sure you will be able to get double height or single for that matter DBA units + the the parts from fleebay.
  2. Not sure if they have these, but www.eurocarparts.com might or ebay or even many other spares suppliers on the web, google/bing it!
  3. I would agree with pilotwoo, go by what the car manual says, if it breaks then you have it in writing when the parts should be changed......................... Having said that I expieriance a cambelt break (under warranty) in a Volvo 740 petrol, about 10 years ago - the dealer said the parts alone would have cost abot £.5k! But the Volve and Skoda are very different. For peace of mind I would contact Skoda UK (in writing, not by phone) and ask them if the recommended change time has been amended. I would not ask the Skoda dealer, they are there to make a profit where they can - generally speaking of course!
  4. Is £135 from a authorised Skoda dealer? Make sure new water pump, tensioner and pullies etc list above are included. Alos I would make sure genuine Skoda parts are fitted! My local Skoda dealer wants near on £500.00 for above! Wish I lived on UK mainland, only 1 Skoda dealer in Jersey!
  5. I have a standard 2007 (Jan) Classic, but don't know the details you require, how do I measure - Rim Width, Rim Diameter, Offset and Stud diameter? So I can let you know..................
  6. All I can say I had to sell my fantastic Subaru Legacy 2.5 Auto (new June 2005) last year due to redundancy and I will get back to Subaru ASAP! Don't forget the 4 wheel drive system and the way they drive!!
  7. I would get is checked & fixed under warranty urgently!
  8. Anyone know how to remove the driver door card/panen? I have a faulty window switch. thanks
  9. Tried Tesco wipers last June for the passenger side, as I was in the UK mainland for a short trip (no where else was open on a bank holiday) & it is still are working fine @ £3.00 each - special offer normal price was £6.00! Don't care if it only lasts a year! I won't be able to get more as there is no Tesco over here!
  10. Have you tried talking to SUK Customer Services and highlighting above,if not might be worth it......................................
  11. Changed mine about 3 weeks ago, easy apart from the the fact you have to do it upside down with a torch - no tolls needed. Mine is on the passenger side, under the glove box / footwell, you will see 2 plastic wing nuts (?) unscrew these and pull back (gently) the foam cove (do not pull this out!) just fold it back toward the passenger seat and stick it to the glove box with a bit of tape. Then slide the plastic cover & remove it. Then puls (gently!) the old pollen filter & note which way it came out and reverse above to fit new one! Job done! 5/10 mins
  12. Excellent, in Jersey 3 weeks ago I had mine serviced (24 month variable) without belts shocks for £325!
  13. To be honest I have bought a upgrade kit off fleebay made in China(!) but here in Jersey when I approached local auto electricians they said it was not possible due to CANBUS. I was just wondering if anybody know better or if the CANBUS is really not a problem. thanks
  14. Hi I have a Octavia Classic (new Jan'07) I bought it used in Dec. last year. Thing is the car has central door locking. But not remote central door locking. Can I upgrade it in some way? thanks
  15. Seems to be quite a common problem on these, I have seen (but cannot remember where on this site) a fix for this, might be worth doing a search under "rear wiper problems"
  16. Hi, I know this is cheaky asking you Techie1, but would you mind if I PM you with my chassis number to see if my cars cambelt (toothed belt?) should be changed in the next 3 to 4 months? Thing is my 2007 (Jan) Claasic 1.9tdi , DSG estate was serviced 2 weeks ago with a 24 month (variable) and no mention was made by my local Skoda garage that my toothed belt or cambelt needed changing at the last service or soon !? Only about 3 months till my car is 4 years old. The car has done 31107 miles so far, but I live in Jersey (speed limited to 40mph) with 1 or 2 trips (max 2 weeks each) to the UK mainland or Eurrope per year. Thanks in advance.
  17. I just changed my pollen filter last week £20 from a local motor factors, local Skoda agent wanted £32 odd for it to be fitted during the last 24 month service - we don't get much misting up here in Jersey till Nov/Dec so have not expieranced your problem. I would be interested to know how much your garage want for a pollen filter? thanks.
  18. Might be worth looking at www.eurocarparts.com I have not used them for several years, but they were OK then for a Volvo wing mirror, had to be top coated.
  19. Can't help with the electrical problems, but humsk on this site did an excellent explaination on how to remove the door cards; Search for humsk in the search box & it is under "How to remove Octy II door cards / speaker sizes"
  20. I am more than a little confused (as it seems many are on this forum) by when Skoda recommend changing the cambelt - it is called a "Toothed Belt" in the service schedule book (the book the dealer stamps after the car has been serviced) decribed in the book as follows; "In addition every 120 000 km (74564 miles approx) , replace toothed belt (PD engines)" mine is a PD engine. Also on the service sheet ( the sheet of paper the dealer ticks to show what work he is supposed to have done) on the back is clearly stated that "Toothed belt change interval Octavia II @ 80,000 miles, again no mention 4 year change. Is a Toothed Belt the same part as a Cambelt? Having said all this, I have expianced a cambelt failure on a Volvo 745 (Volvo called a is a Cambelt, but is was a petrol car), about 10 years ago, not something I would like to pay for if the car is not covered by warranty, fortunatly my Volvo was - £1500.00 worth!
  21. Had my Octavia Classic 1.9tdi DSG (new Jan'07) serviced last week with 31k miles, 4th year service (master?) at £404 @ the only Skoda dealer in Jersey. This included the diesel fuel filter, but not the air or pollen filter, brake fluid was changed last December due to new disc's and pad's being fitted.. No mention was made of the cam belt (toothed belt) needing changing! Was I ripped off? Seems I was by looking at the above! I think I will go indipendent next time.
