Karoq door protectors
What about fitting a soft strip to the walls instead?

Think that may be a typo…
If it’s a comma it’s for thousands if a full stop it’s decimal. I was only suggesting it could read as 15k, can’t believe they would go with it though. Do what I did, take the cash assistance, then pay off the loan straight away! There is no penalty to do this. I had £3.5k towards mine and paid it off a couple of weeks later to avoid most of the interest. Bizarrely if I had paid cash in full at the time I would not have got anything off at the time.

Think that may be a typo…
But it’s actually £15k towards deposit. Wonder if they will honour it!!

MIB3 Map Updates - again!
I have managed to update before but it doesn’t seem to work now? I downloaded the latest updates and unpacked the files. Tried both putting the folder on an SD card and just all the files themselves on the card and it just says update not valid or similar?

Tyre size change
It’s safe though because as tread wears the speedo is even more optimistic
-
Tyre size change
I’m know that 73mph on my speedo is an exact 70mph with a speed app. With my current 16” winter wheels on I have to get 75 on speedo for exact 70.
-
Tyre size change
However even though the speedo is optimistic, the trip meter is near enough spot on over a 100 mile trip on the supplied tyres when new to the distance calculated by the navigation. So it could be nearly exact if they wanted!

Karoq pictures
Back in my Yeti days several people ordered the car and were told they had to have the standard poor riding 17” wheels by Skoda UK. Once ordered they contacted Skoda where the car was to be made and arranged substitute 16” wheels available for other markets to be fitted. They were even able to get all season tyres put on from new, not strictly available in UK. I tried both 16” and 17” wheels on Yeti and the ride improved dramatically on the 16”. I am still using the 16” wheels and winter tyres on my Karoq. The ride is so much better on these compared to the standard 19”, at the expense of perhaps some ultimate summer cornering grip that I have no intention of ever using. (Note though that a Karoq on 19” wheels is an entirely acceptable ride to me still and much better than a Yeti on 17” which in retrospect wasn’t!)

Lower back pain
I find myself moving the lumber support around on long trips to relieve my back by supporting slightly more or less. You can even run it up and down to massage your back. Also to relieve discomfort on a long trip, the Seat may need to be slightly uncomfortable feeling initially when you sit down.

Retrofit SD Card slots in glovebox?
My aug 20 Karoq has sd slots. It also has automated braking which has worked in anger once, probably stopping a bump for me. I believe you can alter the sensitivity but I have not done so, still on original default. I use the auto lane guidance quite a bit now after initial distrust, just a useful guide and warning if you leave a lane whilst not indicating to do so. It doesn’t stop you if you continue to steer across the line anyway. It is either on or off as set by the driver so can be off permanently.

paddle shift
But I find it easier to just select sport with the gear selector. Only takes a second to pull it back and release and then let the dsg do its best whilst power is needed to pull out of a junction, overtake or even prepare the car to accelerate out of a sharp bend you are braking for. Then another pull on selector and back to eco or drive mode. Nothing wrong in engine revving high for engine braking, it is designed to do this and is not burning any fuel, as shut off. Reduces wear on brakes.

paddle shift
Not much point, I have it on mine but dsg does the changes at the right revs better 99% of the time, particularly if you put it in sport mode when max performance is needed. I only ever use it when creeping in very slow traffic to select first or second as needed.

Yeti to Karoq - Educate Me!
Ditto. I bought a 150 SEL Yeti dsg as my third Yeti in 2017. Almost one of the last built, and added a number of extras. I had expected to keep it for many years, but whilst having its mot and brake fluid done at just over 3 years ( Covid mot extension) I was tempted by a 190 tdi dsg Karoq. In retrospect it was like moving forward a generation in car design. The Karoq doesn’t have the same appeal as the Yeti design but is a much better and bigger car. Despite the 19” wheels the ride is much better. The dsg in Karoq is much better with 7 gears, and the automatic handbrake so much better than the manual handbrake in Yeti. I no longer have to select neutral and apply handbrake when stationary to avoid keeping footbrake on. I was suspicious of the auto headlight control at first but it does work well in practice. Only real complaint is that it won’t go auto mainbeam in a 30 but you can override, or even switch of completely in menu and have manual dip. Lane control is another strange thing but I leave it on now as it will warn you by vibrating the steering wheel if you are straying out of s lane whilst not indicating at any speed over 40. Auto braking is hit and miss. It has stopped me from reversing Into bushes etc. but didn’t stop me driving into a concrete plant tub the second day I had the car. I had parked near it but forgot it was there as hidden from view from drivers seat. Selected D instead of reverse and pushed it a couple of metres without auto braking coming on. Minor damage to spoiler which I never had fixed. Keyless just works but I always remember to turn of by locking the car and then touching the door handle before leaving it. This prevents low life from recording the key signal as you walk away and opening the car. You have to physically open the car with the remote button. Since 2019 the key goes to sleep if not moved so leave in a cupboard when home so if you have not disabled the Kessy function it can’t be recorded from nearby and transmitted to an accomplice near the car. Virtual dash is great. I have 4 different options of which I only really use 2. You can vary what is displayed via menu and view buttons easily. Skoda connect was a waste of time to me and I did not renew at end of year due to cost and continuing issues with connectivity. The built in navigation works well in my 2020 car although without Skoda connect it does not get traffic updates etc. You can use your mobile instead. I don’t because I like the overview of the route displayed on the centre screen and a zoomed in view on the virtual dash when using navigation. You can’t do that with s phone satnav as only displays on centre screen.

Issues with virtual dash.
Yes built about March 2020. Booked in for a service anyway on Thursday so will ask them to do updates pending. Thanks

Issues with virtual dash.
On several occasions to date the navigation screen on the dash will not show the map and car location. The map displays correctly on central screen? It does though show other info such as predicted arrival time etc as normal. Sometimes turning everything off and then restating car will get it to work but this evening it would not work at all after several attempts so a long journey was done without it, just using the central screen which is not as easy to see. Anyone else have an issue, presumably with the car software not booting properly. All other central displays available for the virtual dash work.

Replace key battery message
I keep a battery in the coin pouch of my wallet so I can replace battery without having to open up key slot on car. Doesn’t alarm go off if you open it that way?

3rd Year Service needs?
You will get many different opinions. Low mileage cars should have an annual inspection and oil change. High mileage cars are likely to do 15-20k in a year and long trips burn off contaminants in the oil. I used to do 15k a year and on long servicing it was done about every 14 months. I am now retired and do about 6k so am having an inspection and oil change annually. As an aside, I thought the Haldex service was at 30k not 3 years, but may be wrong?

Actual boot volume in Karoq 4x4 2.0 TDI with space saver spare wheel
You need the filler to smooth out the recess in the floor pan and the different sized boot floor mat. To complete the spec you would have had from factory you would need the puncture repair canister and air pump. Where are you as I have retrofitted a spare wheel to my 4x4 and have these bits in my garage and only used for a few days. (Not the puncture repair kit as that is still in my car) You would easily sell the spare wheel, tool, and jack and bits if you advertise it as cost over £250 or more to buy from Skoda afterwards. Once the spare is out there is nowhere to put these. Expensive to get run flats if even available considering you have perfectly good new tyres now, just to get a minor increase in space? I carry a tyre repair kit I bought for about£10. Never used it to date but it would allow you to do a “temporary “ repair to the most likely puncture from a nail or screw at the roadside. I of course still have the pump which came with my car but will be missing from yours with the spare in boot.

Replace key battery message
I ignored the message for months and key continued to actually work? I had a spare battery in wallet in case it didn’t though. I suspect the battery had plenty of charge but that particular make of battery was putting out a slightly lower voltage than the system expected, hence the warning that it needed replacing.

Sportline. Has anyone swapped their 19" wheels to 18"s or 17"s
16” with correct tyres work well and probably more choice and cheaper. Plenty of options at 16” for rims and bonus is this is the specified winter wheel size for Karoq so no warranty or insurance issues. Mine are slightly more conservative on speedo compared to standard 19” by a couple of mph at 70, which is on the safe side. Dont forget to tell insurance company. Some charge more as cars with winter tyres fitted may be used in worse weather and be at more risk of damage. Others are ok with it as long as declared. This is stupid though as some European countries require winter tyres to be fitted during certain periods of the year. This country would be much safer if we all had to have them fitted as well. My experience with 4x4 cars and winter tyres is that I can manage the conditions even when quite poor, yet the road gets blocked by other cars and particularly articulated lorries which can’t!

Karoq pictures
Hosepipe ban here so not washed mine for months. Black cars always look dirty anyway so you can’t really tell!

Replace key battery message
Maybe key itself is dead, not the battery?

I use those steel 16” on mine, look fine. Don’t forget the outside dia is the same. Dont forget that winter wheels are specified to use 16” on car.

Battery problems with key fob
