  1. PS It was in Wolverton Tesco, just in case it is anyone who uses this forum!
  2. Was in a rush this evening, so went to the local Tesco to fill up the car - gob smacked about the automatic pump stopper (you put in a amount you want to fill up and it stops at the amount you set) and left my wallet on top of the Yeti... Some 20 miles later, I went parked outside a shop looking for my wallet, realising I left it on the car's roof! DOH... Went crazy and drove back to the original petrol station as soon as possible and realised the 1.2 TSI is actually fast enough! Arrived at the petrol station expecting nothing has been handed in and there was my wallet! The staff noted a nice gentleman who was filling up after me picked it up and handed it in, just want to know who he is so I can thank him! So surprised and happy, was prepared to spend 2 hours sorting out the lost cards and IDs etc. Lesson learnt and crisis over, decided to donate the money I have in the wallet to tomorrow as I expected total loss anyway!
  3. The genuine Skoda ones does not come with anything apart from the actual plastic extensions, you would need to factor in the cost for the glue etc. The main difference between the Skoda ones and the Superskoda own brand is the front wheel arch, Skoda ones come with 2 part (for bumper and actual arch) whilst the Superskoda ones are 1 piece.
  4. Woops, didn't rwalise it has already been discussed. Kia probs cheaper (v. slightly) too!
  5. I don't think any of the choices are as good as the XC90 -
  6. http://www.pistonhea...p?storyId=26021 Featuring the next generation of VAG radios.
  7. Thanks for that, may buy a cheap MFD2 and report back.
  8. Interesting, seems like the SE cannot be ordered with the 1.2 TSI with manual gearbox...
  9. Audi - purely for residual value, but since it's company funded that it doesn't matter
  10. Hi all, I understand Pre-FL Octavia could have the newer Bolero and Columbus fitted with CAN BUS upgrade, I am wondering it could go the other way? ie fitting a MDF2 to new cars such as FL Octavia, Yeti and Superb II? Thanks in advance!
  11. All good suggestions! By Range Rover, I hope you mean Mk1 and Mk2 (P38), not the MkIII (bling / r&b / rap mobile). Put it this way, if I am going for a job interview (normal office job), what car would I drive? I definitely won't turn up in a Ferrari or Lancia Ypsilon....
  12. Just realised the Roomster SE 1.2 TSI is 10395! That's a much better deal!
  13. So they are some kind of fictional band thing? It was quite strange anyway. Unfortunately the advert did nothing for me and I have no immediate wish to watch the program.
  14. Was thinking just now about what car is honest, I don't mean it's mechanically "undodgy", I mean what car looks purposeful in an honest way. I have always thought a W124 Mercedes is a very honest car, likewise the Saab 900se (Goose - pre Cavalier and Vecra) and the Volvo 240. Unlike the recent Mercedes, the W124 (also the W201) is very square and has a lack of bling (lack of chrome trim) to make the look very underwhelming. The 900se also has an understate look. I am also incline to say the Toyota Corolla is also an honest looking car, but those round headlight looks too outlandish and screams look at me. The last generation Octavia is also good, it looks very honest. Do you know what I mean? Any other cars you think fit the category?
  15. Welcome. Have a look around the Yeti section. If you don't need DSG then I would recommend the Urban, which is very good value. With regards to the jiggly ride, I find it somewhat jiggly especially around town but I came from an Audi A6. If you are happy about the comfort level around town then it get no worse on the motorway or B road. If comfort is important to you, then definitely take it on the motorway and see what you think about the noise or ride.
  16. Why? Apart from not being as refined as the 6 cylinder, they are very reliable which I think is what the OP is after. I am interested as I am looking at one for a friend and would appreciate advice.
  17. Or this: http://www.carandcla....uk/car/C292264 Looks very clean, easy to change clutch, chain cam, reliable and would appreciate in value or this: http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C301596, reliable XUD engine, extremely lo mileage, looks like it has been well looked after and looks like a 1 owner car from new.
  18. Old Audi A6 (C4), they are galvanised and very reliable, go for the 5 cylinder petrol if you could. Lots of change from your £1500. Otherwise an E36 BMW (318is), good on fuel, reliable, powerful enough and 4 cylinders keep maintenance cost down, again lots of change from your budget.
  19. Just heard the above lyrics in an E4 advert! What on earth is that on about?
  20. I thought undertaking is only illegal if you deliberately do it, ie move in from the middle lane and accelerate to pass through the car that is in the middle lane. I find it strange if I am travelling at 70mph in lane 1 and I have to move to lane three to overtake the idiot who does 60 mph and sits in lane 2 for no reason. I was on the M1 recently and an idiot in the Zafria decided to sit in lane 3 and do 65 mph, I was in lane 1 at the time doing 70 mph, does that constitute undertaking?
  21. Just went to have a good look at it in the local Renault dealer. They had a top spec version with brown gossy trim and leather interior. Overall, it seems very well put together, however the buttons and knobs were quite low quality comparing to anything in VAG cars. One plus point is that although the plastics are all hard, it is quite thick and feels very solid. Interior space is alright, the rear space is no Yeti but it seems you sit quite close to the ceiling of the car. Headlining is similar quality to other cheap cars (akin to last gen Micra). The main gripe (for the LHD version) is the offset paddles, might be different for the RHD version? Instruments seems clear and logically lay out. There are a lot of blank plates on the door handle (for electric windows, must be shared with other Renault/Nissan group cars). These switches are mounted in the centre of the car, even for the rear passengers (behind the handbrake). There is not a lot of cubbies either but I find there are too many cubbies in modern cars anyway. The boot is a good size, high lift though, similar to the Yeti with sparewheels. The parcel blink is a piece of vinyl and does not roll back. visibility seems good in the front, but the windscreen is racked quite far back, seems very similar to the Countryman. Didn't get to drive it as it was the showroom car and has not yet been registered, so can't comment on that. I find the shape quite pleasing to the eye, apart form the front. Overall it is no worse than any super mini at similar price and if I am in the market for a Clio or Micra, I would probably get a Duster instead. It's difficult to compare it to the Yeti as the price disparity is quite large. Being at this price, I cannot fault it. In order to make it comparable to the Yeti, I would have to choose the highest spec (no leather seats but with alloys) and compare that to the 2.0 TDI E (no alloys and rear electric windows). The Duster 4x2 1.5 DCI is 12995 and the 2.0 TDI E is 16285. With this price difference, I would be swayed by the Duster.
  22. Wow, £9k! Just had a look, the expensive version makes no sense, but the basic version is brilliant!
  23. Sorry to hear that! If they can be bothered (and have time!) to steal these petty things then they should just get off their arses and work for a couple of hours at minimum wage and contribute to our economy, their CV and buy these parts fair and square!
  24. Is that the new Ford Kuga? Nice, I like it.
  25. Agree with the above. Mine idles at 1200 rpm when it's warmer - strange! I wait for it to go down before driving though. Surely, rpm should be higher when it's colder, not warmer!
