  1. On my sons 1.9TDi comfort there is a jolt at the front end on acceleration - the steering and brakes perform as they should. When parked there is some movement in the front wheels - forwards and back not side to side. The car is 03 plate with 110k miles. Any ideas - my thought was bushes - thanks
  2. As well as the VRS I have a Boxster S and a 230 SLK - the slk is crap in the wet and no comparision to the handling of the boxster - repairs are certainly more expensive that the VRS but that goes with the territory - if you buy a decent one you'll more than likely get your money back anyway so give it a go.
  3. hehe - do as little as possible mate and keep my eyes peeled for good older cars - the boxster is 2001 48k miles - full history - 3 owners - with all the trimmings and a hard top for £5300 , the slk is 2000 , 38k miles - full history - 2 owners - all the trimmings - £2750 ; I reckon both will return my money if I sell later this year. Only prob is that they both enjoy drinking fuel.
  4. Still got the Vrs and wouldn't get rid but it has been joined by a 230 SLK and a Boxster S - all three are good fun !! I could do with the government introducing a multi car tax scheme -
  5. Andy - I won't be able to make this one - did you fit the splitter, and is it still on !! Have a great Christmas
  6. IMO should have got one that is ....VRS - at least then you can sell it with the car, the one you have may put people off then you'll have to change it back and pay a retainer to keep the plate
  7. SMF clutches are prone to creating more noise than the DMF - so thats worth considering as well. More power requires more stopping power so the brake upgrade is a must really More power will lead you to push harder so fit a RARB to improve handling.
  8. it is on the passenger side under the dash on the right as you look forward - there are two plastic sliders to move then the case etc drops out
  9. both my fabias have done this - just never got round to finding the problem and solving - I did find that using the AC gave improved control
  10. I use v power diesel in the VRS and have noticed smoother idle and less smoke - I also run a porsche with unleaded v power - when i put half a tank of supermarket stuff ( I was desperate) in the porsche the engine management light came on- the mechanic who checked out the car said is was due to crap fuel - By choice I will use v-power but everyone to their own -
  11. Sometimes the puller you have identified won't fit under the wiper arm - best to take the nut off and spray with WD, shock/unlock etc and leave for a while - when trying to ease the wiper off its a case of jiggling about - try to remove the trim clips with a flat blade knife - once all is off you will see in the corners what needs cleaning -
  12. No - Skoda quoted £270 and I told them they were having a laugh !! I paid about the same as you have been quoted
  13. Just collected my car from the paint shop where the spoiler has been done - awesome job - prepare, 3 coats plastic primer , paint and lacquer, great price - the shop is in Manchester/Salford - anyone want the details please PM me - after my initial complaint was raised with Skoda they quoted me £270 ( which was after a 30% good will gesture)

  15. make one from cardboard then paint it black - describe it as used then buy it now for £99 and £10 to post - hehe
  16. After my previous contact with Skoda ( see post #68 ) I have with the help of another member,Matt, sourced a guy in Manchester that will do the job for £60 - mine is in on Tues 5th Nov - will submit my review etc later
  17. I had this problem in my first 1.9tdi - most peeps seemed to suggest that it was because the battery was getting old so there was insufficient power to do everything and because the power steering uses the most the light comes on indicating a failure. I would suggest the cheapest first option would be change the battery.
  18. My understanding is that a tuningbox will conflict with the ECU and potentially cause problems - best to spend a little more a get a decent map done.
  19. thanks guys - informative as ever !
