  1. I see it as a good thing. Far too many people risk it. For some people 1 drink maybe enough to put them over the limit. Especially if they are having a quick drink after work, before they've had any dinner. The new level brings it down to a similar level at most of Europe anyway. I would however like to see a Zero (or a very low amount) for new drivers and for HGV drivers. This is something that is seen in some other countries. Personally I rarely drink now because I know I how often I drive, and don't really want to risk losing my licence over 1 drink.
  2. Also to a point of traffic keeping left. You are probably going to find a driver who won't want to keep left in their lane. (In both directions of travel) They could be avoiding a pot holes and puddles etc. Therefore the rest of their lane could be required. There is a huge element of trust, and I couldn't trust other cars in that kind of situation.
  3. I noticed one of my headlights went out yesterday. I changed it at the next opportunity. Everyone should be keeping a set of spare bulbs with them in the car. It would really put me off buying a car if I couldn't do a simple thing like change a headlight bulb at the side of the road. That's just inviting people to drive with defective lights. I've noticed a few people driving with side lights and fog lights on at 11pm on a clear night. I don't really understand it. I see a Peugeot 306 every morning who had both headlights work, and insists on having his front fogs on. It can be bright sunshine, and I know he will have it on. The funny thing is, he only has one of the front fogs work, so he just looks stupid.
  4. Probably a bit close for comfort for the cyclist. The Clio was a bit impatient on a road which doesn't have great sight lines in the first place. On a side note. Does anyone know how to change the time in a Blackvue. It's about 15mins out?
  5. She didn't look at me until I beeped her. But yes that was good of her, and the car behind her.
  6. Really fuzzy view, and for some reason no audio (Wasn't me swearing. Honest ) I was waiting to turn right, indicator on, and the mini stops in the keep clear. No common courtesy or ability to read the wording on the road. Granted the road was wet is no excuse to block a junctions. I beep her when she had blocked me.
  7. The Mini driver earlier who blocked a keep clear right in front of me. No excuse for not seeing me indicating right, or blocking a junction when she is sitting at a set of lights.
  8. SayNoTo0870 as mentioned above is useful. From what I remember Adrian Flux have a call back service which calls you and then you have the choice of options. Therefore not costing you anything. https://www.adrianflux.co.uk/car-insurance/ With the call me button. I'd be happy if they all gave out a lane line or an 03 number, so it's included in the minutes.
  9. I thought Button was on his way out, considering the performance of Kevin Magnussen. Then it would be Vettel at Ferrari, with Alonso to McLaren. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/formula1/29604437 Suggests he will probably go to McLaren next season, however I think that won't be good for Magnussen
  10. My Aunt recently sold her property in between Chard and Axminster. They like the area and what the towns have to offer, however they did feel very remote. They had slow internet speeds where they lived too. Also that budget will get you a lot down there.
  11. I see similar kind of driving with the M4/M32 junction going east. Lane 1 Hard Shoulder Running and Lane 2 are for the M32, and Lanes 3/4 for M4 east. The signs are clear for which lane to be in for 1.5 miles, and yet people make last minute decisions to join the main part of the M4 (Normally across hatchings) I start to question the concentration of most people. However the video shows a bit more intent and doesn't care about anyone else in my opinion
  12. It's not really a question a call agent should be asking in my opinion. They need to treat it as a fact, rather than asking your opinion on why you want to do it.
  13. I would have been tempted just to follow them after. Doesn't matter where the road goes!
  14. From what I understand, if you were pulled over by the police, then you are served a NIP at the time. Therefore you wouldn't expect to receive one in the post. Then you would be waiting for a FPN or similar. The NIP through the door is to identify a driver. So by being pulled over at the side of the road, they have already identified the driver at the time of the offence. Then they send other letters on FPN or Summons depending on the nature of the offence. This part can take longer to come through.
  15. I'd be interested in getting the pictures of my one. You don't often get pictures of yourself driving your own car. Anyone know if Thames Valley will release the pictures even if it's no longer needed for evidence? It was back in May. I was given 3 points and £100 fine. Insurance went up £92 for the year. Not sure what the next 4 years insurance will be like. Hopefully will be less.
  16. I had a washing machine in the back of my car 2 weeks ago. The seats were folded down though. Not sure how it looks when driving through Bristol city centre with a washing machine in the back. Not your average commuter
  17. Mine is out of the car now too. My tax renewal date was today. I sorted that out a couple of weeks ago. Sounds like some people have had fun getting hold tax discs today. Forward planning for them!
  18. The camera doesn't really give it justice. It's a 40mph road, I was doing a bit less than that as it's tight and twisty. The camera is also higher than eye level, so all I saw before he was in front of me was a dash of silver to the left of the car in front.
  19. The person who didn't look when turning right out of a T junction. Nice to know my brakes and horn work though
  20. To be honest I didn't even notice it. It's such a common occurrence that I've learnt to ignore the ones that are not affecting me directly.
  21. Something a bit more upbeat. Lots of hot air balloons by the M4 between Chippenham and Bath.
  22. I agree that the brand has done really well. You notice them around quite a bit. I'm not exactly keen on the styling of the cars they make personally, and as pointed out earlier the crash protection isn't great. However if you want a cheap practical car then that's fine. How many non car savvy people are aware they are made by Renault, and also would they care? A lot of people loved the Clio, and still do. They seem to last a long time too. I went with Skoda as it was cheap practical, not a great looker but it's fine. The fact VW was behind it all helped sway the decision too. Some non car savvy people aern't aware of the whole VAG range either.
  23. This was enough to wake me up on my way home this evening.
  24. I used an 03 number for them, that's saved on my phone. Say No to 0870 website is good for that kind of thing. Admiral people I have spoke to are either in Wales or Canada based on what time you call them. Either way easy to understand.
  25. I've kept with the same insurance company Admiral for 3 years. When the renewal came round in May, they gave me a matching price as another company. I said I would go away and compare the two. They then gave me a counter offer of £100 less than the original quote. I think it's best to get prices from elsewhere, and be prepared for a chat with a renewals person. Have everything in place ready. But no to auto renew. I want to make them work for my money first.
