Used 2018 Octavia estate - no SH
You sure the SH isn’t online? Cars don’t have books and dealer stamps these days. All I’ve got is a bunch of invoices. But as SC03OTT says, the 1.0 SE Tech estate isn’t exactly rare. Plenty of choice out there.

Creaking Suspension
Yes it does appear a very common problem having had a search around. The car will be due a service in a few thousand miles. I get them looked at then.

Creaking Suspension
My 4 year old Octavia with just over 44000 miles has just started to make this creaking noise especially over car park speed bumps and some local rough roads. Any ideas what the solution maybe and the cost?

Noise when accelerating in low gears
My Octavia sometimes when accelerating sounds like the exhaust is blowing. But than mainly happens when car is doing a regen of the DPF.
-
Sound insulation
Low profile tyres with larger wheels will always be noiser than say your Rapid on 16 inch wheels on a higher profile tyre. It’s all to do with the amount of rubber on the road. A low profile tyre has a larger “footprint”. Also road surfaces have a lot to do with road noise too. But I can understand your disappointment.

Planning to buy an Octavia. advice please.
What is an extended scope for £59?

Lane assist
No, my Octavia SE from 2016 hasn’t got it. After experiencing lane assist on a courtesy Kamiq SEL, as far as I am concerned, it’s all the better for it.

Planning to buy an Octavia. advice please.
1.4 litre sounds good for your need. I too can’t get my head around a 1.0 litre engine for the size of an Octavia or Karol and that size of engine seems to be all the rage these days.

Fabia Estate no longer available?
Finding a new car that isn’t a silly SUV styled car without a touchscreen dash is becoming increasingly difficult to find or appeal. I had a Fabia 2 estate and it was a great car. The Octavia I have now is great, but just a bit too big most of the time, but prefer over a Kamiq courtesy car.

Octavia estate 1.6TDI 2019 Engine Noise Maker?
Having a 2016 1.6tdi SE, I wish it was quieter, so no interest in a sound generator. Can’t understand why any car would have one anyway.

Bumping noise when turning?
Let’s us know how you get on!

First impressions
Sat in one yesterday, an SEL whilst my mk3 was being MOT’d. Looks very smart and well screwed together. All very similar to an Octavia owner. I liked the way the bonnet opened with the double catches to secure it. This car had electric seats which I weren’t able to adjust to my position which was annoying..... Looks great but not wow I want one. Yet.

DSG or MANUAL???????
I’ve got a 16TDi with a manual and it feels solid as a rock. The gearbox is a clunky at times but feels it will last for ever. I’ve driven in a few DSGs as courtesy cars and never figured out the method of stop/start successfully. I’m not ready for a DSG yet. I still like changing gear! I like the 1.6 TDi. Sounds like a diesel, but pulls well and dependable and excellent on fuel.

Bumping noise when turning?
Could it not be the constant velocity joint in the drive shaft? You get a knocking sound from those when turning left or right at slow speed especially on full lock? If the gaiter isn’t split, it may not get picked up in a MOT? They can dry out after time.

Comparison: 1.6 TDi DSG SE estate & 1.4 TSi DSG SEL estate
Been considering going from Octavia to A3 as fancy a change, but having read the comments above, maybe i'll stick with my Octavia for the time being......

Yeti to Fabia.
I've had a newish Fabia and a brand new Kamiq as courtesy cars whilst my Octavia SE is being serviced and neither the Fabia or Kamiq were a patch on Octavia. Okay they were both quieter than my 1.6Tdi but for solidity and quality, the Octavia is far better. Sometimes its better to stick to what you know.....

How to stop ECO tips
Gear change recommendation i believe you cannot stop. Just ignore it! The car doesnt know what is going on it front of you or whats ahead. I am sure eco tips can be turned off as I added to my settings on my Octavia 3. Have you looked in car menu?

Less interest Detailing nowadays?...
Mine is in dire neeed of a clean at the moment but obviously it is far too hot to do anything. Looks like it will be getting cooler soon but with thunderstorms on the way. Going to have to wait a bit longer....

Saw my first MK4 Octavia on the back of a low-loader
Saw the new Hatchback in silver on a forecourt ramp this morning and it doesnt look much bigger than the existing Mk3. Looks pretty good,

Hatchback vs Estate
Whilst I like the look of the Octavia estate both III and IV, I have a hatchback and have never filled it completely up, even going to the recycling centre after lockdown. I guess the estate has more versaility and would be the obvious choice if you are a rep or engineer, or have a large dog or move a lot of furniture. An estate holds its money better but they are more expensive. Its your choice at the end of the day. Whatever you buy, its a good car.

No dedicated HVAC controls
Having looked at the down loaded owners manual, everything on the touch screens seems a retrograde step to me and far too complicated and I`m 53. But would need to try it out before I decided where it was for me. Otherwise its run mine until it wears out or get one of the last Mk3s. Or look elsewhere. Didnt like the Kamiq as a courtesy car and the Golf 8 will be very similar to Octavia 4.

vRS TDi dual-mass flywheel issue(?)
I had my DMF fail on my mk2 Octavia back in 2008 at abouut 52k. It was more of a juddering clutch when changing gear and went from a ragiddy gear change to complete failure within a couple of days and had to be recovered by the AA. Even back then it cost about £1200 to get repaired so your quote isnt far out. But how it goes from failing injectors to a DMF does seem odd. There is plenty on DMFs on this site and searching for failures was infact how I found this site!

Faulty fuel pressure sensor
Whilst out on Tuesday night, whilst in stop/start, when car restarted it suddenly lost power showing “error stop/error” with the glow plug light flashing amber. It felt like the turbo had failed. The car was fortunately booked in the following day, for a service and brake fluid change. The car has done 37500 miles with services when needed and has been faultless up to now. The diagnosis is a faulty fuel pressure sensor and the error was cleared with a software reset during a recall. A new part is on order for Monday. The dealer couldn’t guarantee the fault would return. I feel a bit disappointed that this has happened, but I guess these things happen? Has anyone else had this failure? In the meantime, we are using my partner’s 2010 Toyota Yaris on a trip away that is proving a joy to drive!
