Who's Seen a Mk4?
I had a Fabia Colour Concept 95ps 5 speed with digital dash as a courtesy car recently. Found it very impressive. Handled nicely, comfortable, decent boot. Certainly cheaper than a Polo. I liked it.

Photographs of Past Cars...
My Dad have a BX19DTR estate in red and whilst he didnt have it for that long, I thought it was an awesome car.

Rattle startup underload
Certainly doesn’t sound right. Could be a rattling cam follower? Doesn’t sound cheap! How many miles has the Leon done?

Brake squeak at low speeds - Advice welcome.
How many miles has your Octavia done? They may due replacement anyway? Recently had my partners old Yaris front discs and pads replaced and the local indie garage where it goes, said Pagid disc pads are renowned for squealing? Had my Octavias discs and pads all done all round in past 5000 miles and all good.

Arrghhh panic time - HELP!!!
You lost any power? Has car gone into limp mode? How many miles has it done?

Infotainment System Switched Off?
Modern electrical multiple unit (EMU) rolling stock regulary throw electrical glitches which delay services and requires a “reboot” for between 4-8 minutes. Normally solves the problem. Takes the same amount of time for our Vitgin TiVo box! Sounds like the same sort of issue here with infotainment on Octavia 4s!

Continental Eco Contact 6 durability / alternatives
I managed to get 35k out of my original Continental Eco Contact 5s by having them swapped around. I now have Eco Contact 6s on the front having done nearly 25k. I did have them on the rear but a bulge was found on the OSR caused by potholes at the last MOT. Now got Nexens on the rear which were reluctantly fitted duing MOT. However they seem decent tyres. Didn`t release that Conti`s had less tread when new.

Clutch Vibration
Hello, could be your dual mass flywheel be about to fail? Unfortunately they don`t last long, going from working okay to failure within a couple of days. How many miles has your Octavia done and is it petrol or diesel?

Skoda Octavia Mk III Bonnett
I’d say you need a bonnet off a pre facelift Octavia.

Octavia tapping sound from engine
The dual mass flywheel is between the flywheel and clutch and unless you’ve noticed a change in the quality of your gear changes, I would suggest that isn’t a dmf issue. I had a dmf go on an Octavia 2 and it was like a slipping clutch and went within 2-3 days.... But I’m no mechanic. I’d get a second opinion. Call me cynical, but a dmf change is a more expensive job.....

Octavia tapping sound from engine
Unfortunately it might involve talking off the cylinder head to remove the valve lifter or minimum camshaft and cambelt and waterpump etc, but I ain’t no mechanic. Won’t be cheap..... i like my 1.6TDi too

Interesting advice on cambelt change
Had my cambelt and water pump replaced after 5 years and 56k in September. Requested to see the original belt and have to say it looked in extremely good condition. Do I regret having the belt replaced? No, for the peace of mind and hoping to keep the car long term, having owned for nearly 5 years.

Latest EV's with Tail Lights that are the whole width of the rear of the car. WTF is it with some Designers / Manufacturers?
Sean Connery`s James Bond got thrown in the boot of this 1970 Ford Thunderbird Landau in Diamonds Are Forever by Mr Wint and Mr Kidd so like most things, full width tail lights are nothing new.

what do you like and dislike about your Octavia?
Had my 1.6TDi for 56k miles and nearly 5 years. Apart from the noise that has already been mentioned and a desire for a 6th gear there is little to fault really. The car feels solid and ideal for trips way with the huge boot. I like the climate control especially. Only part that been replaced, apart from consumables is a fuel pressure sensor that failed at about 36K when car went into limp mode. Over the past 18 months I have had Scala, Kamiq and Octavia IV courtesy cars and none have inspired me enough to consider trading in my Octavia.

Karoq facelift unveiled November 2021
At least it hasn`t got touch screen heating and ventilation like Octavia IV. Maybe VAG have learnt to "if it aint broken dont fix (change) it!"

Love at first sight.
Was given a Octavia SEL MkIV diesel as a courtesy car yesterday as my Mk3 was due a service. I thought I’m going to use this opportunity as an extended test drive. Well there is no denying the driving experience was enjoyable. Nice to have a six speed box and once I figured out the electric seat I was comfortable and cruised sublimely at 70. But. I couldn’t figure how to use the touch screen without the radio on, the sat nav was in kilometres and couldn’t figure how to turn it off the previous destination. And the heating was saying that warming my feet wasn’t available! And the tailgate gate seemed to rattle over bumps. I didnt regret giving it back and so on for another 10000 miles of MkIII motoring.

Brake pad thickness
If the front pads on my Octavia need replacing at 56k at next service I won’t feel so bad....needing new pads at 6k is shocking. Mine were 60% worn at MOT in September.

Skoda Fabia MK4 Estate cancelled ?
SUVs are a fad that’s been going on a while now, maybe longer than just being a fad.
-
Skoda Fabia MK4 Estate cancelled ?
Seems these days, that if you don’t fancy SUVs/crossovers you are becoming limited in choice. Keep running my 5 year old Octavia, not that there is anything wrong with it

Skoda Fabia MK4 Estate cancelled ?
I had a Mk2 estate that was fantastic and now have an Octavia. I was looking forward to a Mk4 estate.

I hope you are all being sensible about THE PETROL SHORTAGE!!
Had to fill the Octavia up yesterday morning ready for my week ofnight shifts as was below quarter of a tank. The owner of a Mazda 6 in front of me at pumps put in no more than a tenner of E10 having queued for about 10 minutes. I put in 43 litres of diesel. We seem to lurching from one crisis to the next.

Amundsen sat nav in mk111 scout going on strange detours!!!
My Garmin is very good most of the time, but for reason likes to send me off the M20 up Bluebell Hill and then M2/A2 to join M25 at Dartford, rather than staying M20 to Swanley then M25. I just ignore.

1.0l MPI Timing Belt Change at 50k/5yr - H2O pump?
Just had my cambelt/water pump replaced on my September 2016 53k Octavia. Requested the old belt and its currently in a VAG box with an expiry date of 06/25. So a 5 year life on cambelts irrespective of mileage.

Can I turn the nags off?
My mk3 does that but you can alter the volume of the sensors in settings. Whether that doesn’t affect the music I don’t know!

Fitting A 12V Power Socket
It’s all about tech these days, not practical stuff like tyre inflators running off 12 volt sockets. I still use a manual foot pump!
