I liked the forge gear but got tired of it pretty quick so going back to looking oem under the bonnet Still got some mods planned sports cat/panel filter/turbo elbow and will eventually go stage 2 map and anything north of 150bhp will be very happy with, not for a while yet though, they see around 155-165 normally stage 2

Fitted the rear arch liners off the gti today. started with a filthy arch Ample spraying with degreaser and a jet wash got them looking like this. then lined up the liner to drill the holes as mine didn’t have them being an early one. Was going to fit the inserts but found the screws hold in really strong on there own. Treated the drilled holes with hammerite and then waxoil over the lot. Only had some small spots where filler neck pipe bolts to body, around the neck was really good. I gave it a good going over with hammerite then some waxoil on that too. Then all fitted back on

Finally got my last two warning lights out today, due to a crash detected fault in steering column control unit I originally had a red power steering light and power steering wasn’t working. I managed to get steering working by resetting the control unit to factory settings although still had yellow steering light and traction control light on due to basic settings not being carried out. No matter what I tried I couldn’t get basic settings to adapt. Booked in with a local independent with access to Odis which is a vw guided way of diagnosing faults and straight access to the factory. Luckily this sorted the light out and managed to reset the steering, and all sorted in less than an hour . IMG_1650.MOV

Noticed my forge heat tape around clutch feed was struggling with the heat, and already started to discolour after only 500 miles. So upgraded to some gold heat sleeving from funk motorsport to hopefully keep the heat in check

360 Miles done nearly a full tank :), Shown up a couple of little things 1: how I wasn’t happy with the forge bov, maybe abit old for that now 😂, so standard pipes back on 2: My inner driveshaft gaitor appears to have a small hole causing grease to be thrown about, lucky I had a spare so swapped that today, Other then that all seems well Picked up some back seats so full interior in now,

Done Driveshaft arrived yesterday, so got that fitted, gearbox oil filled, lovely traditional fill to spill box in these no set figure like the 5 speeds, Coolant in and run up and took her out for a spin today 15 miles so far all good, I’ll get some miles on her this week then give her a good inspection. Got some back seats going in next week and I need to find a gti washer bottle top as it clips into header tank and original doesn’t fit but no rush. I’ll link in a little YouTube walk round I’ve done hope you all enjoy

Got another battery tray as the gti one doesn’t fit due to the gearbox mount being different and the size of the stop start battery I.e being bigger meant it didn’t fit my original one. So that’s all on now Also a powerflex dogbone insert arrived as the gti dogbone mount is a different design to old one, lucky there cheap enough. so just waiting for my driveshaft to turn up now, was told 1-3 days last Friday so hopefully any time now, then gearbox oil in and take her for a spin

Little night shot, the steering wheel controls work the stereo but unfortunately doesn’t toggle the dash functions so I’ll need to experiment with that see if I can get some different buttons to work as I really don’t want to change the wheel, at least it looks good

Got the dash all back together finally, I accidentally fitted the up gti heater controls and when I was out in the dark, everything else is green except the heater that’s red 🤦♂️, so got the Skoda one back in and all looks lovely. My driveshafts been dispatched, I’ve got a stop start battery coming tomorrow. I’m just waiting on rad mounts, fingers crossed will be moving under its own steam on Saturday.

Fit the o/s driveshaft today and heat shield over it. While the front was off I decided to treat the rust dots starting to appear as it was getting abit crusty. I’ve Treated it with some kurust and then a couple of coats of hammerite silver and they have come up not bad at all.
