Try this tip from Andy, originally posted to cure the climatronic system from clicking. But running the function test may stir something into life. It will show the values for each flap, so if the left is dead at least it will tell you.

Andy, top guy, cracking info! I took mine into a dealer for them to do the simple reset, £45 later for 30 mins labour (even though they had my car all day), I was told 'that's normal' and the clicking is still there. 20 mins outside my house with VCDS, armed with your info...the clicking has gone! And dealers wonder why people refer to them as 'Stealers'
