  1. This week I should get my new indicator stalk. So if people demand, I could write a "how to" on changing it. With the stalk change I will install the "blink automatically for 3 times" electronics.
  2. Remembered an old joke about wife in boot... What is the difference between wife and dog locked into boot? At least dog will be happy, when you let him/her out --- Does the misting happen in summer or also in winter?
  3. Don't know about the difference between Passat and Superb, but I know that V6 engine is heavier than your R4. So consider that there will be less lowering, because the springs are meant to heavier v6 engine.
  4. You can perform this repair without taking away the wiper arms and trim. It is possible, but what a PITA. If you prefer doing it that way, then be sure that you don't do it in cold (plastic gets fragile) but in a warm place. And also, prepare yourself a 6pack of whatever beverage you like
  5. NO. Already installing IBM + 7" 1din motorized touchscreen on mine But still a good offer on those MFD system owners
  6. Oh, please dig in http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/247161-online-parts-catalog-online-repair-manual-several-diy-pages-for-vag-group-cars/
  7. http://www.passatplus.de/umbauteile/armlehne/3B0864249B41.jpg It looks like this from inside. You can see some clips/snaps location. Basically, it's the part nr 19 that you need to remove, to gain access to center pieces - http://www.vagcat.com/p/B265/863600.png.
  8. I have changed the upper cushion part of these. I haven't taken apart the hinge mechanism. I know it has a spring mechanism, that if you accidentally press on the armrest while it's in first/second/third position, it will allow to take the heat of the hinges (so you don't brake it). I had kind of same problem and basically the problem is in the connection from metal plate to plastic plate cushion part. It needs some insulation between them. Raise the armrest plate, remove the lower cover (it's pressed inside with "snaps") by putting something sharp between it and firmly remove the cover. Then you will see, what I mean about the metal plate and cushion.
  9. Close the boot and try to open it with force (pulling it up). If it opens, then the trunk lock is toast. If not then you have somewhere bad connections to trunk lock.
  10. There are problems with Valeo alternators. They start to whine and rattle from inside. That's due to anchor that is coming loose from inside the alternator. You can check this, but it might not be it. If you can get hands on some other alternator, put it on your car and listen then.

  12. If you have a leak in pipes, then it will result in VAG-COM also. I just don't understand, why people are asking answers to problems that can be checked in VAG-COM (it looks the same in every VAG forum). First thing, if I have some problems, I will connect my cable and check for trouble codes. It will save a lot of time and most probably I will get the answer to my problem in minutes. For example, car shuttered and check engine light was on. Connected cable, saw that there was a leak in turbo system. Checked for tubing and found broken tube in 7 minutes. Don't be afraid of VAG-COM, it isn't that horrifying thing.
  13. Check leaks and go drive with VAG-COM, to see what the sensors are telling you. Most probably you can help from VAG-COM specialist.
  14. Your low beam is halogen or xenon? Or does it make any difference after all? EDIT: Sorry, but it seems you have bought a clip that holds down the plastic cover for bulb. Look the cover spring, it should look same, not the bulb one. EDIT 2: And it seems, that if you have xenon, then the spring is with headlight assembly. So you better take the head light out and look for it. I think it's somewhere there, still wondering around.
  15. Check from the opposite light unit. It should clip into some holes and then the upper part behind some edge. But don't take my talk as gold. I maybe lying...
  16. Do you have belly cover? If not, then get it. About the alternator. Best thing is to check the voltage, when the problem occurs. Easiest way is to get somebody with VAG-COM and then monitor the voltage during the drive. Cheaper is to run some wires from battery to inside and check it yourself with voltmeter. If it looks, that there is voltage lost/drop, then probably you need to take your alternator to workshop. VAG alternator have a lot problems with broken alternator anchors (especially Valeo ones). Workshop will check for it and replace worn parts. One more thing could be burnt diode block, but then probably "alternator workshop" light should be on all the time. In estonia there are a lot alternator repair companies, you just need to find it in your country.
  17. It occurs while driving too and with handbrake disengaged. That's why I'm asking some advice, what to check next.
  18. Ok, before I do anything, has anybody had an creaking noise from rear end and has a solution to it? I changed the rear axle bushings, but it did not get any better. Is it possible, that it could come from rear springs insulators (the rubber pieces)? While back ago, I saw a thread from passat forum, that there are new style insulators for these, that are all rubber (or something). Original ones should be rubber coating metal pieces (or again something).
  19. Seats from Passat or original Superb's?
  20. If it is original stereo for the car, then car will recognize it after a while and should come out of safe. Also you can just take the fuse out for the radio for some hours and try then.
  21. Ok, I will mention it tomorrow to workshop, when they perform 150000km service.
  22. http://vcommindia.com/CompareImages/Skoda/Superb/054.jpg This on is rubbish. The OEM leather will worn so quickly and it just doesn't fit to hand very good.
  23. Sorry, but the OEM steering wheel is a piece of crap
  24. Then they will put on a leather. I can bet that you have lot's of professional saddlers (I hope it's the right word) in there. In Estonia it costs about 100€ to refurbish the steering wheel. Some examples from one guy in Estonia http://streetrace.org/foorum/viewtopic.php?p=863984#p863984
  25. Why don't you just take it to refurbishment? They will peel off old leather and stitch new one. Been there, done that.
