  2. My daughter is using our Mii for practice - her driving school car is a diesel Citroen DS3. She loves driving the Mii and can now see why we were keen to buy one so that she would have a car to use post test (neither the Yeti or Roomster were options for her insurance wise). The DS3 is obviously bigger and perhaps more comfy for an instructor who spends a lot of time in the car. But daughter cannot work out why the Citroen is so much more expensive than the Seat. She loves the planted feel of all of the controls on the Mii and the fact that there are short overhangs. The visibility is also much better. The Mii SE doesn't have parking sensors, Citysafe or stop/start as standard, although otherwise trim is good with remote locking, electric windows, alloys, leather steering wheel and decent speakers for the radio. In terms of economy, I usually average mid 60's mpg in the Seat, 50ish in the Yeti and when we are out practising for the test, the Mii seems to return low 50's. That does include a lot of shuffling about with parking manoeuvres etc.
  3. The Nightbreaker Unlimiteds in our Mii make the lights almost as good as the Xenons on our Yeti. They are a really useful upgrade.

  5. You'll end up buying the Mii! I was set on the Citigo but the deal on the Mii was too good to miss out on.

  7. Autocar aren't too keen on the new i10 in their Autotest this week. They list the Up as being above the i10 in the summary of the test and by implication the Citigo and Mii too.
  8. What utter whitewash. Sorry if you're new to the site but it looks like you're a dealer or represent a dealer and so you should be ashamed of trying to justify such a stupid pricing policy. So yellow is 'special' to the Citigo but not the Mii. But then White is 'Special' to the Mii attracting an extra cost of £175 but is 'free' on the Citigo. Both Skoda and SEAT must think that their customers are daft to swallow these 'special paint' theories. They're all made in the same factory and go down the same production lines all mixed up together. I bet that in most deals to buy a new Mii or Citigo that the price actually paid will be the same irrespective of these non metallic 'special paint' option prices. I paid no more for my Mii in white as I vaguely remember that at the time, Red was the 'special paint' option!
  9. Like everything it's a gamble buying this one. Everything could turn out fine but the gamble comes at a cost by way of a decent purchase price. Whilst this one is for sale via a car supermarket, the price is pretty much on a par with what a franchised dealer would ask for something that has been looked after. They are clearly waiting for someone with more cash than sense and as the saying goes 'Buyer beware'. I know someone who bought a 2 year old diesel Focus with a very dubious history. It was a vehicle seized from someone who'd acquired cars from hire companies and not returned them. The insurers wrote it off and then went bust. The buyer then bought it 'as seen' for under £3k via a banger auction. The sump oil looked like treacle but the car ran well despite having done 35k miles on factory oil. As far as I know it's still going really well and the last I heard it had done 150kmiles+. There again it had no DPFs or Cat converters to complicate things. You'll find something more suitable!
  10. Now this is something that they should be embarrassed about not sorting out on the Facelift. Looking at Johann's picture they're bigger than ever on the City model. I really dislike this bodge and hope that the design guy responsible got his P45. I'd just make sure that any overzealous vehicle 'preppers' don't take them off new FLs at PDI, because I reckon they'll be a bother to fit later on, judging by the fun I had with this on my Yeti. Something they'll hopefully sort for Yeti Mk2. :think:

  12. I'd save £700 and look at something like this instead from a franchised dealer. There are others too.   13. My very early 59 (almost as early as they go) is and always has been fine on its original Goodyear summer tyres, their replacement Yokohamas and the 16'' Falken winters that it's presently on. Tyre wear is and always has been reasonably even both front to rear and across the entire width of tyre treads. IE no excessive shoulder wear. I am reasonably gentle on it most of the time but an occasional heavy right boot around damp roundabouts is always dealt with confidently by the car with no fear of anything dodgy about to happen.
  14. Welcome to driving and even more so owning a very decent car for a young driver (or old for that matter!) Just out of interest and if you're happy to share details, who are you insured with? I ask because I'm just about to add my 17 year old daughter to the insurance on our Mii. I'm wondering whether we may be better cancelling the existing cover and insuring in her name from scratch. The car was bought with a view to her using it as soon as she passes her test although I will probably still do as much of the driving. She has tried driving the Mii on the airfield where I work and absolutely loves it - almost as much as the driving school Citroen DS3 (possibly worth double the Mii) Others - please don't bombard me with cautions about 'fronting' or folk tales of people paying horrendous premiums. I'm aware of all of the insurance legalities and have heard plenty of horror stories. What would be really handy is to hear how an actual 17 year old owner has dealt with this significant problem and a few pointers as to who to try for a quote. Happy driving!

  16. Never had a problem with Directline. In fact they sounded very enthusiastic when I contacted them to advise of swapping both the Yeti and Roomster on to winters every year. No increase in premium, no admin fees and no need to contact when swapping to/fro every Autumn or Spring. The only requirement was that the wheels should be VAG and tyres should be on the list specified by Skoda for approved sizes. Perhaps it may have had something to do with the young Scottish lady at DL saying that she must remind her other half to change the wheels/tyres on her own car. She seemed fully up to speed about winter tyres. Just depends on who answers the phone!
  17. Never had a problem even swapping twice a year summer/winter/summer on either the Yeti or Roomster that both have similar locking bolts. NOT YET! I'm off on Wednesday so I will check them all just in case :wonder: . Sounds like if they cause a problem, then it's a mega problem.

This was a very expensive mistake for Skoda as they realised that missing out the fitting of clear plastic 'foils' on UK cars was leading to virtually every early car experiencing a nasty rash in front of the rear wheels. I don't think it could be classified as a full blown recall but in my experience, Skoda were fully prepared to put things right at probably significant expense. I seem to recall that Skoda (back home in the Czech Republic) actually paid the bill. I've not noticed this fact being mentioned in any buying guides but I reckon that it is essential to check that any secondhand Yeti has the foils, particularly if out of warranty. Despite this resolved paintwork glitch, my very early Yeti still looks like new. Paintwork on the front end and bonnet seems to resist chipping and scratching, at least as well as any other Skodas that we have owned.

  21. Just fitted a set of the Osram Nightbreaker Unlimiteds to our Mii and previously good headlamps are now excellent. Not far short of the Bi Xenons on my Yeti.
