  1. Just paid a deposit to Star Performance to get a Helix Single Mass Flywheel Clutch, basically wondering what else i should get them to look at when they're pulling my car apart. Getting wishbone bushes done at the same time. Don't have money for LSD or that would be in too so it's the little things really. Car's done 22k and 3rd yr service 1500 miles back Thanks Scott
  2. welcome, great list of previous cars there. you should be happy with the fabia but remember its a diesel, cant fault 40mpg round town though:)
  3. i just ask for part no's:D will work out cost and how to fit them after:D
  4. any part numbers for console bushes, was thinking bout getting PowerFlex bushes for front end are these the same thing? Front Wishbone Front and Rear Bush
  5. got the same drivers seat sqweek! problem is mine ran out of warranty on tuesday!!! anyone know of a price and how hard it is to change myself? Scott
  6. from that sounds like you are heading to halfords. best bet from them is AutoGlym Super Resin Polish. Contains a mild abraisive and will also seal the paint. if you are looking to get rid of scratches and swirl marks then you cant go wrong with Menzerna Intensive Polish - Menzerna Intensive Polish it works well by hand but will take some commitment to do a whole car in a day. (Unless you've got a Porter Cable or similar) Then of course you'll have to apply sealant or wax Blackfire Wet Diamond All Finish Paint Protection gives a good shine and a slick surface- Blackfire Wet Diamond All Finish Paint Protection If you're doing it by hand then use the white side of these for polishing Ultimate German Applicator Pad - Ultimate German Applicator Pad ( use the red side to apply your wax /sealant) If you're going the whole hog you might want to check for contaminants on the paint and give it a clay with Meguiars Quik Clay before you polish (available in Halfrauds but you'll be cheaper if you're getting the other stuff too)Meguiars Quik Clay So, Wash (2 bucket method) Clay Polish Seal/Wax And remember to post pics Scott
  7. Here we go then Pictures front view of car Grille Removed to show pipes Through the engine Front with bonnet up Very Easy to install. Hardest part was modifying the bracket for my undertray and then bolting that bl**dy thing back on:mad: To get the bumper off it's a case of removing 4 torx screws in each wheel arch 2 behind the bonnet grille and popping the pins under neath. then with a mate pull just infront of the wheels and it'll come away:) Heres the other recent additions under my bonnet Bonnet Gas Lifter (with colour coded bracket) Cheers Jason The neck of my new 5litre Washer bottle
  8. good to know basil. anychance of a sound bite of the clatter before i fork out my hard earned? Scott
  9. Yes, I finally got round to it tonight. You may notice the change in my Sig but just incase I fitted my Forge FMIC it's been lying in my garage for about 4 months and it now graces the front of my car. Whilst the bumper was off i fitted the 5litre washer bottle and some new fog lamps(old ones had the mounts broken) The IC is great, makes me go all giddy every time i hear the turbo sucking more freely:O and the soot i'm clearing out the system now is something else:D Cheers to Glider for the nice shiny (it is now anyways) cooler and the red pipe work that matches my car:D pics to follow as it's dark:thumbdwn: Scott
  10. i'm of the opinion that if i do it myself and screw it up i can then pay to have them done propely. remember i'm a tight Scot!!!
  11. like this http://content.answers.com/main/content/wp/en/2/27/Golf_GTI_Mark_V.JPG
  12. i was thinking more along the lines of the golf gti with the machined face and grey inners. i'm just refurbing my spare(winter set) atm cos they need a spruce up. you can see the real thing when i get it pinished as i started on thursday:D might be finished ready to go back on the car in November:D
  13. opinions please did a quick mock up of my old alloys, as you can see they need a refurb and i thought this would look good polished face and dark inner let me know Scott
  14. that's just how to get the bumper off. to remove the trim on the boot lid you just pull (carefully) mines been off a couople of times (to change the wiper motor and just to have a look to plan some sound deadening) itcan be a PITA to refit but just remember to pop the pull strap though whilst you still can and percivier and you'll get there:)
  15. Went for a spin tonight and ried to squirt the rear screen to clean it, unfortunatly it only shot half way up screen! So when i got home i went to look and found that when it's turned on the bulk of the water comes out via the passenger side rear bumper with some dripping onto the tyre. i've tried a search and found there is a known problem in behind the carpet in the boot but i'm not sure if this is it as the water is outside the cabin of the car Please help Scott
  16. ah ok, so a lovely red valve and an induction kit would still fit how much work is involved in moving the battery jason? are the fuses still under the bonnet?
  17. Bear with me on this one; I was under the bonnet fitting my lifter strut last night and got to thinking that if the battery and the (massive) case for it weren't there, then a)there'd be more room in the engine bay (for cold air for example:) ) b)you'd be removing a fair lump of weight from the very front of the car(can only be a good thing for handling:) ) My question then is could you then fit a larger air filter/induction kit (and not be sucking in hot air) thus reducing smoke out the rear or even get more out a remap if there's more air for the mix. I know jason has moved his battery (not quite sure why he did it) and was just wondering how big a job it is to move your battery to the spare wheel well. would it be worth it i.e. would the difference in power and handling be noticable. thanks again Scott (rapidly dreaming up a "to do" list:D )
  18. does the alientech work with a fabia? very tempted for just $60
  19. my plan's as per below really, need to fit my forge FMIC and brakes then save some money for a clutch and LSD? then new turbo and custom map. exhaust will more than likely be done cause i'm bored one week Jason- have you fitted your LSD yet? Any problems getting it from the States etc... Cheers Scott
  20. think you should look at getting some uprated ones made Jase I've been thinking that these may cause an issue later, so it'd be good to know there is a solution to a potential problem. I'm sure WW might be looking when he get's his map sorted
  21. i can travel:D just afraid i might come back wanting to spend more money:thumbdwn:
  22. Polishes are abrasives to correct paint defects WAX and sealants are used to seal the paint! This is why few people in this country know how to look after their cars. Even Auto Express gets it wrong
  23. Thanks Lummox and Bengie. I knew there was a reason i love this site, top of my bookmark list!
  24. thanks WW, that answered my question but then threw up a whole load more. are clutch/pressure plate and LSD different things entirely? if i was to get a new clutch would the pressure plate not be changed? I realise i'm probably sounding really:newbie: at the moment. but when it comes to cars i pretty much know how to get in them and go. (oh and top up the washers:D ) Thanks for your patience Scott
