  1. Marginal, I would have thought, unless you're accelerating heavily. Too low rpm in a gear, and too high, have obvious downfalls. Anywhere else is fine - just might find some gears more "comfortable" to drive at a constant speed in than others.
  2. Just to confirm; we're meeting at the upper right hand corner of the car park? Don't want to confuse you guys with the Herts Skoda Doggin' club, who might also frequent that area. Not that I'd know about that...
  3. Read through all the previous years threads: put me down as tempted by this. Will speak with the girlfriend to ascertain the number of occupants in my car. :P
  4. Indeed. Even getting a shift-on, mpg is impressive for heavy-right-footage.
  5. Only me that recognises/thinks it's ex-Performance Bikes writer Dale Lomas showing the group the 'Ring?
  6. Lots of people saying there should be limits on overtakes during peak times, areas, and no overtaking on bank holidays [because the good lord said so?] - however, will those same people be the ones bursting at the seems to write off to the Daily Mail when they have to wait another hour or two for their pie to be delivered to the supermarket because the lorry was late in a 'down with this sort of thing' way? I bet those same people will be even more of a tis when their pie has gone up by 30p because the lorries are taxed even more so the supermarkets put the pie's price up. I drive a lot, and on big roads, too. I see lots of trucks. I like trucks, so that makes me happy. They do overtake each other [even on a Sunday, when not even John Lewis will open] and I may lose minutes of my precious time. However, given the amount of time you've spent reading this thread from start to here, or indeed have spent on Briskoda forums today/week/life, it really isn't great deal to get in a fluster. There's an awful lot of things you can re-adjust in life to spend 'more time with the kids' than get lorrys to sit inline.
  7. d_milek - You'll have to forgive; I think it flew over most peoples heads. Gotta be worth a good 15lb/ft across the rev range, that...
  8. Indeed. The above is far, FAR more of an annoyance than lorry drivers overtaking each other. If trucks overtaking each other delays you each trip, leave 10 minutes earlier...
  9. Cheers guys, will do. And yes, it's the lens that comes with the camera bundle. Having seen what you can do with a 50mm F1.8, I'm a bit miffed I didn't just get the body and try for a 2.8 18-55, but hey ho.
  10. Thanks. Been reading up about them for months, since May IIRC, so it's nice to finally have one. Changed between a D60, a 400D and a K200D more times than it's rained this summer, but the Canon felt good - and the lens range was a real plus. [a range, which I've started reading up upon a little more, which is going to hurt my credit card somewhat...] Thanks for that. I guess if I get a Hoya Pro1 UV as you've mentioned, I can transfer it between lenses? I have the 'kit' 18-55 IS lens, but mainly got the DSLR as my compact lack capability when zoomed. I'd like get to grips with my camera over the next few months, get comfortable with it enough to stick it on manual, then look at a zoom lens. Probably best get a cloth mentioned on here, too. Not sure whether blowers/pens are needed just yet, as I only have the one lens so won't be changing for a while. :p I've seen lots of lenses with caps/hoods on them. Would they have any benefit on my lens, if indeed there is one on offer?
  11. Hi. I got a 450D this week [first [d]SLR for me], and have been reading some past threads on here - do I *need* a UV filter?
  12. My favourite bit....sorry. MI FAVERIT BEET
  13. Nope. They weren't BBSs. His black Fabia vRS had a black/silver front show plate.
  14. Who was the chap I was talking to, who'd travelled over night, and who'd just got a set of wheels for his Fabia? Didn't catch your name on here.
  15. Managed to get this before they took it away. Big ouchies.
  16. Ah. The famous Delcac Octavia? And yes - I don't think there was anything, Skoda or otherwise, that was as loud.
