  1. No, cos mine's an Auto ........... Just being pedantic, sorry. But yes, as mac says, no pedal press ..........
  2. In mine, different car tho, but you just press the 'Start' button WITHOUT pressing the brake pedal.
  3. Resting Voltage. Just general battery condition ......... Considering purchasing a smart charger. With my old car / lead acid battery I used a solar charger during the winter and gave it a proper charge every now and again. Original battery plus one new Bosch S5008 lasted me thirteen years and was still good when I sold the car. Current car needs smart charger if I come to need to charge it.
  4. Will using an earth / ground connection (for the negative probe, obvs) instead of the negative battery post still give an accurate measurement whilst using a multi-meter? ALL online info that I can find states to use direct contact with the negative terminal of the battery. Negative post not easily accessible it seems, at least with just a quick look under the bonnet. Cheers guys.

Me too ....... well almost every time ....... unless I think traffic is about to move off then I may keep foot lightly on brake pedal (but without activating auto brake) but yes, very easy to put it back in 'Drive' from 'N'.
  6. Had the Heko ones on my mk2 Octy estate without issues. Not convinced about the 'wind deflecting' part but good for rain deflection particularly whilst having the windows open just a little whilst parked up for preventing misting or whatever reason. Just purchased 'Edge Visors' ones for my current vehicle and at about half the price of the Heko ones, they look pretty good. NOT gotten round to fitting them yet but assuming they will fit properly.
  7. It's a good excuse if you late for work, .......... Actually, No it's not, but you could try it, Lol. (If you do work, that is)
  8. You should be able to get an 'Approved Used' vehicle worked on at any same manufacturer garage if under warranty. Maybe try a visit to a local Skoda dealer / garage and explain your issues. They may be able to help or at least advise, and put your mind to rest a little. I missed what the issue is with the brakes but should not be that difficult to rectify. Happy holidays.

  10. I had Falken Ziex ZE310 Ecorun on my mk2 and they were pretty good with a 67db noise rating with a 'C' for economy and an 'A' for wet weather performance .......... I was well chuffed with them and very reasonably priced at the time iirc... This was on an estate 1.9pd though and only on 16", Lol. They were good and reasonably quiet though. I doubt they will come in the sizes anyone commenting on here wants. Lowest noise I can get in my size is 72db I think. If my tyres were just slightly bigger I could look at tyres with proper noise cancelling properties. https://www.goodyear.eu/en_gb/consumer/why-goodyear/soundcomfort-technology.html#:~:text=The%20rolling%20noise%20of%20the,big%20difference%20in%20noise%20levels.
  11. I'm talking about when information is plain wrong / incorrect. Nothing subjective and nothing about things that may change. Some information is simply incorrect and always will be ... but some people still keep passing it on ..... and always will ... because some people do not check their information. I believe in checking information before passing it on to others, or at least use the phrase 'I think' or 'I'm not sure but' .............. Too late.
  12. If they (Vertu) are selling you both the vehicle AND the warranty, then them using the excuse that the prior servicing was not up to scratch, to void any warranty work would not 'cut the mustard', as they say. But yes, get it in writing too, just in case...... Also though, consider their own lead times for actually getting a broken down vehicle worked on??? Certainly make sure a courtesy / loan car is included and that there are no 'get out' clauses.
  13. @Lee01 @Ootohere Only one was AI i think. The others were general questions asked / reported by others. I know a lot of misinformation is from numpties reading and repeating other peoples misinformation ........ I mean, do people not read what they have written .... I guess not. Logically I would think that softer compound tyres were quieter..... Sizes being equal and all that .........
  14. Re soft vs hard compound tyres and road noise Searching 'are softer tyres quieter' on googl. .......... just three separate examples People also ask Are softer tires quieter? What kind of rubber the tire is made of: Softer rubber will make less noise, but it also tends to wear out faster. Harder rubber will be quieter, but it can make for a bumpier ride........... It is the friction between the road and the tyre that causes the noise. Generally speaking, a harder compound tyre will cause less friction than a softer one, making it quieter. There is now an extensive range of noise-reducing tyres available across such brands as Bridgestone, Pirelli, Sumitomo and Falken.......... Generally, softer tyres tend to be quieter, but they also wear out faster. The friction between the tyre and the road is what causes noise, and softer tyres have more friction, leading to a quieter ride on imperfect surfaces. However, this increased friction also means they'll need to be replaced sooner than harder tyres............ How ............ just how can such contradicting crap get written. I give up.....
  15. I've met my fair share of so called 'experts' in my lifetime ........... different backgrounds and the like. Not really impressed with most of them. The Gp's for instance that when I went to them with a dog bite, gave me antibiotics (flucloxacillin) that are known to be ineffective against dog bite bacteria. Ending up with me in hospital for 11 days with a bone infection and a total of 7 weeks on antibiotics of three different types. The hospital staff were amazed (gobsmacked a better word) at what had happened with the doctors mess up. Yet there were the Non Microbial staff at the hospital, mostly the physio's, that were saying Flucloxacillin was ok. The Head of Microbiology that covered both the Queens Med and Nottm City hospital (her name was Tara) assured me that they were all WRONG. Any future need for Antibiotics for myself does not look good. Another one, a (supposedly) qualified sparky contractor at our workplace trying to tell me that a water heater could be installed using a 3 pin plug ......... and a 3 amp fuse.......... he even got his calculator on his phone to show me his calculations...... I do think he had been smoking a bit too much stuff that day tho to be fair. The amount of people that I have come across that think they know what they are talking about is astounding. If I comment on something then I would have either checked my facts before commenting, or at least start the comment / conversation with the words 'I think'......... but certainly make it clear that it is not fact.......... Or just keep my mouth shut and ears open. Sadly most people seem unable to do this nowadays, its all Me, Me, Me.......... It was commented the other day that general intelligence is going down and with Ai becoming more mainstream, it is expected to go down further. And on top of that we have to endure people like Clown Fart and Poo-tin messing the world up. God help us, I say..........
  16. Yes, now I know that I will insist it goes onto the works device and not my own phone.... And if they think differently, then I say fook em. Find out tomorrow. It's the principle as much as anything else. Thanks to all.
  17. 2035 update might be a little premature ......... You mean 2025 update ???
  18. That'd be Methane, would'n it, Lol.
  19. Thanks @Mickvrs220 That tallies with what Facilities manager told / showed me on his tablet. Opposite to what our manager told me ....... Thanks again mate.
  20. Oh yes fyi ... it was my manager that told me that I would require the App on my phone, but I do not think he knows as much as he thinks either, Lol. He's a nice bloke though, fairly new manager.
  21. Our Facilities manager visited today (yes, I work B Hols sometimes and as I am on call anyway.....) so I asked him about the work emails situation and Re the Authenticator App. He told me, and showed me on his work Tablet, that he has the Authenticator App is on the Tablet itself. The same Tablet that his work emails would be read on....... (I do realise that it is just an App that could be downloaded onto any suitable device) ....... But does it not defeat the object if the Authenticator code was sent to the same device that the emails were being accessed on ????? or is this normal ???? The person is coming this Thursday with our new tablets and all the info and I just want to be as prepared as possible. Thanks again guys
  22. They already do ............. We call them 'American's'. ............
  23. According to 'Auto Mundial', this was because the manufacturers could not make the smaller cars pay ... ie, not enough profit in them. Just watched a recorded programme which included the Ioniq 5 (possibly the 'n' variant) twin motors with upwards of 600bhp when requested .... Bonkers, but would love to test one out, Lol. I know a lot of mid to top end EV's have stupid amounts of power nowadays. I think my licence wouldn't exist for very long if I had one, Lol.
  24. Thanks @SteveTheElder Yes, PC mag does seem to agree that the Microsoft App is a little less intrusive than the Googul App. Question 3 is .... will all of the App's work for what is needed, ie, whichever I choose ??? If that is the case then I will probably use the Aegis or 2FAs, if I have to. Thanks again.
