  1. I found this guide a really useful read as a 'How To' guide: http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=229424
  2. I had to borrow my mum's C1 on Monday & she dropped me off & followed me home & I lost her on the way home. How I don't really understand how - made me chuckle though.
  3. Well the rolling road was not running on Saturday, that is one for another day it seems. They said the BHP is 205 & yes the ECU was taken out. took around 2-3 hours from start to finish. Most of that was getting the ECU out & doing their magic on it.
  4. Morning all, I am very happy to say the re-map of my car to stage 1 went well @Shark on Saturday & it's a noticable improvement. The car shifts so much smoother & sweeter in all gears (especially 2-5th). Its has gone from pretty quick to rapid. Put the smile back on my face, it's surprising how you adjust to a cars power, this was perfect timing for me - like having a new car again. I'd reccommend to other CR owners as it does make a difference. Also on the longer journey it is ever so slightly better on the MPG (went from 50.0 to 52.3 floating around 80mph mark). That said it's not why I did it. I did for just more power/torque & a smoother delivery. Funny that the wife hasn't noticed a thing. I said I was having a bit of work done on the engine to make it smoother & more efficient. She has used it more than me this week & not said a thing Just goes to show she clearly doesn't go over 2000rpm, as I suspected. Mark
  5. I'm assuming this little white plugs are normally hidden within the fabric around the loom & I need to take the fabric off? Sorry for the stupid question but thanks for bearing with me on this one.
  6. I appreciate your help, I'll check when I get home. Is it this end or the other or does it not matter. Also how does it come out easy or do i need to know how to & if so how do I do it? I noticed in your post you had a 'how to' picture sent you. Do you still have this at all?
  7. Hi, Yeah pretty sure I did. I bought this kit: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271015844153?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 Does it look any different to what you suggested? Mark
  8. Deffinately not, the wire was not routed, just sat on the passenger seat with the head unit out. In its most basic set up really. Just checking it was working before I route in.
  9. Further to the above also when I call there is no audible sound yet the call does go through, as my wife came outside & said what are you doing I keep geting calls from you - made me chuckle. I've not tested incoming calls yet sao can't say wether that has sound issues.
  10. I was up at Shark (Stage 1 - V/Nice too) on Saturday & whilst I was there we tried to install he OEM module. It was installed but the VCDS came up with an error of - Open mic in curcuit (see below). Control Module 7P6 035 730 L Software coding 0200000000010110 ASAM data set EV_UHVNA 002720 (SK35) VCID 3B7EE310B275D7C69A7 1 Fault found B1048 13 [009] - Open Curcuit Confirmed - Tested Since Memery clear Fault status 000000001 Fault priority 4 Fault freq 1 Reset counter 108 The meant everything seemed to work except my mic! We then took the kit out assuming it was faulty, I contacted the seller who advised to the contrary (see below) : The reason you have an open mic circuit is because you do not have RNS510, these kits are designed for voice control which only the 510's have. What you need to do is bypass the mic wires on the loom (+ to +, - to -) if you have an RCD unit so that the mic will complete its curciut, really easy we come across this 5 times a week. Firstly has anyone else had this issue & if so I dont fully understand the process given above. Does anyone have a before & after shot of this (Grizzle) I understand you had something like this recently, can you assist? Second noticable glitch is my phone book is all good but my numbers seem to have quite a lot of odd characters either side it, can this be fixed - is it a simple coding issue? Last one, Bluetooth streaming is very very quite, full volume is required to hear the music (even with my phone on full volume too). Comes uip as BT-Audio but I cant see how to tweak this one, does anyone know how? If anyone can help it would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance - Mark
  11. Interesting.... Is it worth going back then or does not really matter too much from your knowledge?
  12. Finally got around to it. All moved & now got a bit more spare time. I'm going into Shark this Saturday AM & I'm really looking forward to my trek home - Motorway there, A-roads home perhaps? I'll give you my before & after prints & let you know it feels (stunning i'd imagine) . Anyone else there this Saturday? I'd happily chew the fat & have brew with you. :coffee:
  13. I didnt realise they were that reasonble either. Is it a DIY fit?
  14. Is there a good place to prize the top box off from? i.e. directly under vents, lower corners or from top of dash? Just dont want to damage anything for the sake of asking a question from the guys that have been there. Virtual Beer coming your way as a thanks.
  15. As a final note (I hope), Is it easier to install from the drivers side or the passenger side? I'm not fussed where it goes but the path of least pain is my preffered route, even if it takes a little bit longer to get there.
  16. I'll piggy back on this thread if I may Mike, I did a dry run this AM & i'm going down the passenger side (at the moment) have you gone this way & if so I found the glove box a rather large hinderance. The only thing keeping it there was the airbag wiring - but it was hanging around like a bad hangover! Do you know I can simply unplug the airbag connector, do my business, then reconnect & put the box back in situ? I was slightly annoyed this morning to find out my T15 star screw driver was not compatible with my upper Bolero H//U screws only the bottom ones. seemed my Stanley tool box needs a full length driver & not one of these small socket type kits - damn shame otherwise I may have completed it this morning. I have a pic if this helps? Regards Mark Mark
  17. The engineer did say something along those lines. In fairness the overall feel has improved & I am within the tollerances so I feel i've got my money's worth.
  18. £62 all in. I called up before I popped over & the fella said he was quiet that afternoon, so I popped in after work at 2pm.
  19. How about these as a compromise? They look nice, bloke near me has them on his VW http://www.passatworld.com/forums/74-volkswagen-passat-b6-discussion/312743-anyone-seen-these-wheels-passat.html
  20. Can't say i've ever really suffered from that noise, that said I do usually have the stereo on most of the time. I will test it out (under silent conditions) & get back to you.
  21. Hi all, I havent seen one of these for a while so in preperation for my re-map @Shark this Sat AM I thought I'd get my tracking/alignment sorted before hand. I have attached my before & after pics & it's true the car does feel better & you notice is so much more on a straight road. I got it done in my local Formula 1 centre in Hedge end - Good service & has a viewing bay too. Any comments welcome (apart from telling me it's all in my head & the tollerances are too small to notice please ) Mark
  22. There were 2 in Fareham & 1 in Botley (Near Southampton - Geographically) last I knew (last week) but I cant be sure on the colours. The chain is Sparshatts, google it & see what pops up. Good luck, I hope both your sakes you find the elusive white one.
  23. My sentiments exactly. Surely this is what we can expect for the new oil burner, does not mean the petrol will be sub 7 seconds? I think this car (Petrol or Diesel) could be immense (on paper) - i'll reserve the judgement on the physical side until i've seen it in it's flesh.
  24. Hello all, I've just notice there a few pics of the new Octy estate on a couple of trusted sites. Also Autocar say Skoda are likely to produce a 4x4 Octy & more details will be revealed in the Geneva show on the 7-17th March. I know quite a few people would like to see this option come onto the Octy (scout excl. of course) - so not too long to find out more, it seems. http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/geneva-motor-show-2013/skoda-octavia-estate-revealed http://www.whatcar.com/car-news/skoda-octavia-estate-revealed/265332
