Factory (or dealer) upgrades are quite expensive I think. Best bet is to take their offer of original system and then follow the advice on here for upgrade route to mib2 if you want more. If they are willing to upgrade you to mib2 for <£500 I would take it. As that year did not come with mib2 I doubt they will. Mib1 systems: -Bolero (your system): small screen, no nav -Amundsen: mid size screen, with nav -Columbus: big screen, nav, + other bits like hard drive for music I think all have dab and Bluetooth.

220 isn't 4x4. Aside from that some more experienced users will be able to inform. I don't think there is anything in the spec that is different. Main thing will be engine in some way. Maybe fueling.

Paddles can be easily fitted by swapping the wheel. Just hunt around for one you want or have a look online. There's a German shop (forgot the name) that has wheels for good prices. I have a fabia wheel in my Octavia so many of them are interchangeable. Just make sure you have the right buttons as that is where the paddles connect. Best bet is to buy the button set with the wheel. I'd take a Dremel to it to make a flat head driver slot. Then lots of firm pressure with some sort of impact driver. Just make sure the fit is good.

So if cruising on the motorway in hybrid mode, how long till the battery is dead? Or does it naturally keep an amount in reserve? I understand that you can select a battery level to keep and you can have a full charge mode (petrol only) but what about leaving the house on a trip and not changing from default hybrid mode?

Sending to pab might allow enabling of some other features that you may or may not use. Either way he is a guru with this stuff and you would get good advice from him.

You should be able to have it activated for something like £130-160. It's a license deal. Should take about half an hour.

You may be able to find a model that could work. You also may have a faulty connection somewhere. Having a think about it you should probably find out if the main unit in the car still works. Easiest way is to find someone with the correct screen and see if you can match up the plugs somehow in your car to get it to show something. Problem with that is you clearly has non-stock cabling so unless you are happy pushing/pulling cables to the right location..... Try pulling the glovebox unit to see what is plugged in there. That's a good starting point to see what is plugged in to what. Edit: Sorry, didn't mean for that to be so long.

My aim would be to keep the car for 5-10 years depending on how the EV world gets its act together so I don't expect the car to be worth loads at sale time. It'll be more of a tool to use for a number of years than hoping to get £xx back at the end. I imagine the closer we get to 2030 the more expensive fuel will be and more prevalent charging and EVs will be. Just specced up an SEL on carwow to what I would want and it comes in £240 under 40k!! Whatever car I get I'll be spending my own money so the BIK doesn't come into it for me. I understand it's a big deal for many. Sounds like your usage is similar to what mine would be. 20-25miles a day commuting + some extra miles at the weekend with or without engine help.

Thanks that very much helps. I keep changing my mind away from a PHEV (mainly looking at the sportline iv) due to the environmental impact of the manufacturing side and the fact you have both systems to look after. I really do think that having the ability to run most of my daily trips in an EV and having the long range/fun factor with the engine just makes sense for me right now. Where I live now I can store the cable just inside my garage door and grab it under the door to plug in or find a way to hide it in some fake guttering or something. I think I am leaning again towards this even with the high tax as you have mentioned in another thread. Unless I can spec an SEL with the right bits......

Thanks @ERIK99. Aside from the weather considerations, how have you found plugging in every night? Is it much of a hassle? I am really keen to get rid of my diesel Octavia and a PHEV really sounds to be a great stepping stone for me. I just want to better understand the day to day living pattern. If I can set up the charging from an app rather than it charging as soon as I plug in.... stuff like that really. It would be a big change to my daily routine.

Bilstein B4 are a good quality like for like replacement. The just replace as many of the little bits as you can (top mounts, bushes, etc.). Should be good for a while after that.

All seasons can be the best of both worlds or compromised in both summer and winter. If you are not the type to drive your car to its full capability then an all season on the UK is a good fit and forget. If you are likely to push a bit harder then a dedicated set for each half year is a much better option. As commented above, winter tyres are not snow tyres. They are just more suited to colder average temps and clear water much better. Yes they are more suited to snow compared to a summer tyre but a full snow tyre they are not. If you go to a tyre shop in the UK asking for winter tyres they will offer you rubber suited to driving on UK roads in the winter unless you ask for specific snow tyres.

Do you have any mates that are into cars? Get them to listen out. Its' normal to hear a small turbo whine when it gets going. At tickover the turbo is doing next to nothing and at higher engine revs the turbo will likely be spinning too fast for human ears. Could just be you have good hearing.

Have to agree with this. Also the standard power on the id3 is higher. Pound for pound you get more with the vw. Value for money you get more with Skoda.

ET35 is further out so mechanically it will fit. The tyre width and rim width will matter.

I'm in a similar boat. I've been an early adopter in the past with phones and other things. Learnt my lesson and vowed never to buy a car in its first year. But here I am looking at the enyaq, polestar 2 and superb iv. Granted the superb is slightly better developed but it's still a newer lifestyle of plugging in. At least with a full ev you don't have to plug in everyday.

This very much depends on how the miles are done. You can do 15k miles in a city and need a petrol or you can do 8k miles on the motorway so better with a diesel. Also depends how hard you drive. How long the journeys are etc etc. More to it than ">10k miles".

Not 100% sure. Set it up soo long ago. We have 2 living room lights on the 2 left smart buttons and the TV backlight on the top right with the hallway lights grouped on the bottom right. Can dim and on/off as we like. Also have the TV backlight come on when turning on an activity with harmony. Works well. @Rustynuts got a link for that stat?
