  1. From what I can recall it was a nod to the fact that he is using marionettes, a combination of marionette and animation. My fav Gerry Anderson show was Terrahawks, Capt Kate Kestrel pilot of Hawkwing with Hawkeye on the gun. Awesome, especially considering that Hawkwing was launched via an artificially created whirlpool. They even managed to get into the charts when they featured 'SOS Mr Tracy' on the show and it was then released as a single. He will be missed and my best wishes to his family at this difficult time, his vision though created many wonderful shows that will be cherished in many, many generations to come. I have the complete Thunderbirds, Terrahawks, Captain Scarlett collections and will be getting Stingray and Joe 90 as soon as I can.
  2. Arrived at Tesco just before 10 to find car park crammed with cars and people casually walking in front of my car. Got in the doors and was ok in the aisles, however, the tills were a different story. I only had a few last minute forgotten items to get. Went over to the self service tills to find 4 taken up with (ahem) people with overfilled deep trolleys patiently scanning and packing hundreds of items. Why do people leave it so late to purchase the necessarys? Did I mention that there are only 10 self service tills. Effectively holding up those if us that had the foresight to prepare for the upcoming festivities. After queuing for upwards of 20 mins finally got through and home, unpacked and now........relax! Can't wait for the influx of Christmassy films, Yay!
  3. Forgive me for saying, but isn't it a compliment to Skoda that the Fabia VRS is popular with younger people. I have seen a few around that are being driven by younger drivers and they aren't all chav'd out. I'm over 30 and got my Fabia last year, personally I love it and am glad that other people, including younger drivers love them too.
  4. I too suffer an irrational fear of ALL dentists. I was about 7 or 8 and an RAF dentist removed one of my teeth with (and I kid you not) a mole grip, was one of the most traumatic things I have experienced. Since then I went once in my teenage years and was told that because of my wisdom teeth, the others are being pushed forwards and that at least 2 molars would need to be extracted. NOPE!!!! Never went back and since then the 2 have crumbled under the pressure, but other than the occasional toothache I have been fine. Daily bushings and mouthwashes seem to be maintaining them so is all good. My other half has trouble and for a number of years had a titanium bridge with no problems. Recently though had all his upper teeth removed and a denture made, other than having to chew a bit more carefully it doesn't seem to give him too much trouble. He considered implants but they cost the earth and are a pain to maintain.
  5. Thank you, I hoped it didn't sound too ranty but I just don't have time for trolls, or whatever they're called. I was brought up to respect people for their beliefs. A quality which sadly seems to be lacking over recent years.
  6. My heartfelt good wishes to everyone who has posted in this thread. My partner lost his dad in August 2008, his illness progressed at an alarming rate. We used to go over to see him regularly and never had reason to suspect something was wrong. He had been having problems with walking longer distances but he told us his doctors were dealing with it. After about three weeks we got a phone all from one of his friends who told us that he had been admitted to Addenbrookes hospital. We immediately went to see him and discovered that his condition was worse than he had told us. He was a very proud man and he played down what was happening. He was getting worse with each day, my mum came down to support us and him, but when we took her to the hospital she barely recognised him. He lost weight so quickly and became very frail. His wish was to be at home so the doctors did what they could and released him. My partner lived with him for a week and then my sister in law came up from the far south for a second week. The hospital arranged a carer after that, however the day the carer arrived and my sister in law left to go home he died suddenly. It had been about 8 or 9 weeks from admission to his passing. I also lost my best friend a few years ago who was only in her late 20's. she suffered with ME and epilepsy and had a fit whilst in the bath and drowned, I found her like that and it was the hardest thing I have ever had to deal with. I had to call her parents to tell them and could barely speak after that. Believe me that life is far to short for arguing and bitterness. Live your lives to the fullest extent possible and don't allow petty things to upset or irritate you. I have read some of the threads and people that are leaving the site because of it and I think that it is so silly that some people seem to like bringing others down and post stupid comments. It time to stop being deliberately horrible and remember that everyone has a right to their own opinion and that if you don't agree with them it's their right to say what they feel and no one has the right to say that they are wrong. Light hearted mockery is ok but ugly, hurtful and rude comments are not. If you cannot say anything nice, say nothing is a motto that should be more widely adopted!
  7. WANT ONE ALSO! How frickin amazing is that, awesome way to watch all your guy mates turn green with envy. Imagine your at a party and take that out!
  8. Think I saw you briefly too. Only not soon enough to flash. Damn it! Will have to do better next time hee hee :-)
  9. My Fabia is completely standard, to the point that the CD player is the symphony unit installed from the factory. I have no plans to map or mod it and I love it to death. Have added a couple of Briskoda stickers and that's where it stops. I like seeing different modified Fabias on my travels but just love the fact that mine is standard.
  10. Masters Of The Universe classics figures. Made to awesome detail by Mattel. Was a He-Man/She-Ra fan as a kid and had a few of the original ones as a kid. Also other action figures.
  11. I know, I see loads of normal Fabias but only rarely see VRs's. I'm ##05BZS if you see me FLASH! Lol ;-)
  12. I think I have seen you a few times round Bury area, wasn't aware of the flashing thing till now. Will flash if I see you again! ;-)
  13. A friend of mines reg was S10LUT - no prizes for guessing this one! Lol!
  14. That's awesome! Just a shame that I don't have the handy cash to have it in my living room! Lol. Seriously tho, looks cool, might have to pop in to see it in reality!
  15. I moved to the Suffolk countryside about 5 yrs ago. After trying 3, Vodafone and O2, the only decent signal is with Orange/T-Mobile or EE as it is now. I can get decent signal anywhere in the house now, data speed seems ok too.
  16. I bought a Vita as I loved the PSP and I love the Vita just as much. I agree with the fact that the games recently haven't been up to scratch. I love Uncharted and recently bought Gravity Rush, which is amazing. For me it's the screen that clinches it. However the DS/3DS titles haven't really been that good either, I had a 3DS for a year and only bought 3 games, chipped it all in (plus a couple of PS3 games) for the Vita with GAME and got the Vita, memory card and a game without parting with too much cash so worked out fine.
  17. I have had the kindle 3G for the last 2 years and have NEVER had any problems at all. I use it all the time and have taken it on several holidays, even in 35 degree temps and bright, bright sunshine the screen is always readable. A friend had one and dropped it, Amazon replaced the screen for free! I am considering getting the new kindle touch with 3G as its a bit smaller and lighter (not by much tho) but can't decide whether I can part with my current one.
  18. I can relate to this topic personally, I was looking for a more economical, cheap to run and quick diesel a year or so ago. I had an '08 Fiesta Zetec Blue petrol at the time but was filling up every 2-3 weeks (if not more) and my other half got a Fiesta 1.6 TDI Zetec S and I was impressed with it. Whilst looking my other half came across my Fabia VRs Mk1 on a '05 plate, 50k on the clock, standard throughout. It was a private sale, full history, everything including both keys and code keyring thing. I was initially skeptical about it, my first thoughts were Skoda, yuck! I went to see it and had a quick spin and as soon as I did I was hooked. The guy said someone else had seen it and said they'd call him later, so I jumped in and there and then transferred the £5k asking price. I had to wait a week for him to transfer the private plate, the following Fri we picked it up and I have not looked back since. I have not modded or mapped it and probably won't. I love my Fabia and will take a lot to part with it now. Only mod I'm gonna do is to remove the factory fit symphony unit and replace it with a double din and up-rated speakers etc.
  19. There have been several drivers round here in the fog with Zero lights on, however what did make me chuckle was a Peugeot 206 in front of me on a dual carriageway and ALL his lights, fogs, rears, brakes, indicators and at the front the dipped/main beams where flashing on and off in rapid succession. Reminded me of a club light show! Obviously some serious wiring fault or he just doesn't maintain his car properly. When passing I honked and pointed but he just seemed to shrug and carry on. I just don't understand how he could not realise what was happening, or maybe it was by design, maybe he hooked up all the lights to some sort of processor so the lights flash in time with his music. Either way he still looked like a pleb!
  20. I have 3 tattoos, back of my neck has 3 tribal symbols one on top of the other, right shoulder has a horned heart, my left forearm (inner) has a cuneiform glyph used in Blade Trinity, I adapted the design as I think it's cool. The addiction for me is the feeling that you get a few minutes of having a tattoo done, you know, when the area develops that warm, tingly feeling. I just love it! All my tattoos are meaningful for me and I am not going to cover myself with them, but I hold no ill-will to people that do, each to their own I say. The only thing I find funny is when tattoos go in trends, where I grew up between the ages of 19-25, a sudden explosion in bar codes on the back of the necks seemed to happen. You'd go to a club and see who could count the most bar codes in one night. Even a friend of mine got one, it was the code for a packet of 20 B&H! My own mother said (horrifically to say the least) that she wants to get a tattoo recently and asked me to recommend a studio. I have only ever used English Rose in Peterborough, international award winners TBH. They have a Parrot, Marlene, who imitates the telephone ringer remarkably well causing them to pick it up. She also whistles The Addams Family theme tune so that's just wicked. P.s. the sleeve above is awesome BTW!
  21. Ok, thanks peeps. Will go have a butchers and see it that helps. If not, it off to the garage. Gulp!
  22. I am hoping someone could shed some light on my current niggle. I have a problem with my rear washer, it suddenly stopped working. I removed the boot trim and discovered the pipe had become detached. I reset it and thought that would solve the problem, however it still won't wash the screen. Afterwards the boot release stopped working and I replaced the fuse and motor itself. I read somewhere that there are 3 connections for the washer line but cannot seem to locate them. I have rechecked the boot lid connection, but is still connected and doesn't seem to be loose. Has anyone else had this issue and if so what did you do to resolve it. Many thanks.
  23. After seeing the state of the cars I believe they probably don't have a pot to pi** in so not really worth the hassle. Besides I have experience in repairing paint work so will do it myself.
  24. Well yes, my health has improved unfortunately my mood hasn't at seeing the damage evidence everytime I get in the car, too rainy and horrible and no garage to get out and sort. Luckily tho it didn't get to the metal so no rusting issues.
  25. Regarding the key comment, I was tempted to put my foot through the windows of both but a security guard was walking around the car park and was well within sight. I just wish that people like these specimens would pop the self absorbent bubble that they seem to to inhabit and join the rest of us in the real world!
