  1. In the DSG version it seems to keep the speed at whatever it was when you took your foot off the throttle (presumably with a some sort of maximum applied). That means it usually go down in 2nd, which seems to work just fine.
  2. I don't go along with that analysis. Skoda sell every Yeti they can make and would sell more if they had a bigger factory. I suspect that the nation's priorities lie more with quick delivery and high discounts
  3. Definitely wrong. Put it in N if you want to use the handbrake or it will be pulling against the brakes, hence the groan.
  4. I like it just as it is and don't give a stuff about styling. My concern is that Skoda might be tempted to damage its functionality when the new model comes out. If they do I will be looking to buy a bargain priced, fully loaded run out model!
  5. Had to take a boring bus trip this week and bought a copy of 4X4 monthly. It was their annual review and ranking of all 4X4s split into under and over £30K. Yeti came top in the under £30K section. Occasionally posters on here bemoan a supposed trend towards higher pricing, eurobox styling etc. It seems to me that the fact is there is nothing to touch it for either value, features or performance. It could be that the ratings were influenced by their only reviewing actual 4wd models, which is what I need anyway, but if I changed car tomorrow I really can't see any alternative to the Yeti.
  6. I have the 140 Elegance DSG with no major extras. it's the best car i've ever owned. You will soon forget the sunroof which is massively overpriced.
  7. I was in Canada last year (love the place) but it seemed to be a Skoda free zone. We rented a Mitsubishi Lancer automatic and it amazed me how bad those old slush boxes are compared to a DSG.
  8. I seem to recall reading that it has a Polo (Fabia) front sub frame which is why it has a better turning circle than the Tiguan :sun:
  9. What was the piece of plastic s***e they handed out on the podium after the race? Makes Santander look like idiots!
  10. It's worrying that a dealer should do this. Can you say who they were?
  11. It's very useful in an automatic. Other than for brief stops, I also use the handbrake and select neutral. I then put my foot on the brake, let the handbrake off and transfer my foot to the throttle. Result: a nice smooth start with no possibility of rolling back.
  12. I've said it before and I'm happy to say it again. My first Yeti was a 140 manual and it was brilliant. My current Yeti is a 140 DSG and it's even better! Do test drive a DSG if you can to see whether you really miss the manual gear change.
  13. That was the point I was making about the light press! However, thanks for the advice on proper clutch control - I'm into the dealer on tomorrow to get a pedal fitted
  14. The only problem I have experienced is that stopping with a light press on the brakes does not always activate it. Other than that I think it's great. Am I right in thinking it's only fitted to DSG models?
  15. Air con always - but I do suffer from hay fever.
  16. Given that the Yeti has been around for 5 years and nobody has reported a problem, I don't think you need to worry.
  17. I won't be at all surprised if Yeti 2 looks pretty much like the picture that Johann has posted. In a thread that probably died years ago I posted that Skoda were getting feedback from those who didn't buy that it was too van like and that the boot is too small. The mark 2 isn't van like and there is scope to give more usable boot space as many people don't want to load above the window line. Also, the reason that all the others look like they do is that not having the aerodynamics of a brick gives better fuel consumption. There is always resistance when a car is changed - just look at the round fog lights hoo-ha. It also usually quickly dies down - again look at the round fog lights If Yeti 2 represents the same value for money as Yeti 1, does everything at least as well as Yeti 1, and has better fuel consumption and more usable boot space I'd buy one whatever it looks like.
  18. I think it's more likely there aren't many around your way yet. I've seen three. I found them really noticeable from the front as they look very Yeti like but strangely different and they really caught my eye for that reason. Much more difficult from the back - which has never been a Yeti highpoint.
  19. At least they are still putting 4X4 badges on the real Yetis

Mines been on P Zero Rosso's since I bought it. I like them - good grip wet or dry. I've also used them on snow with no probs. Not sure about having three of them on though.
  21. Good luck with your search. I'm sure you will never regret going down the DSG path.
  22. This has been reported before with the 1.2s. It seems to be a light front end.
