  1. Only posting in case it's happened to anyone else and there's a simple answer.... Tootling along in a 30mph zone today and then into national speed limit, gave it a bit of gas (not kickdown, just a bit of pressure) and there was a tick, tick, tick sound before the power came in. I had nobody behind me so I slowed down and used the paddle to put it into 6th and tried again, same result. Not had time to try to replicate it again as traffic flow has been too busy in the places I could try but will try in the same spot it happened next time I have the chance. Is this the start of a problem? Hope not!!
  2. I renewed my cover with the AA for £65.24 which I found was a great price for the cover provided, you may get a letter about renewal but I called before mine arrived and they just took my details and gave me the same cover as before, make sure you tell them the date you want to start it from or they might start from the date you enquire. I also bought the full extended warranty, that was £212.85
  3. I had to add 750ml after 3k miles since oil jets work was done, as you know, my work and general driving isn't many miles and all stop/start which I believe was a contributor to oil usage right from new, when I go to the mainland and do a good hours driving it tends to use very little to nothing Will be interesting to see what gets used in the next 3k miles
  4. I found this quite interesting on how they actually get to their figures so thought I'd post it, I had no idea it was so "open" on how it's conducted
  5. Had a few days away in the New Forest this week, only grabbed a couple of pics of the car, shame the sun didn't shine, the autumn colours in the trees was amazing
  6. I've done the Jabozuma check in the past and it is as you say, same as a hot check. Mucky pup? That tissue has been through many oil dips! I needed to put it against something to show the level clearly :-)
  7. Oil level now from 22732 to 25612 miles, nearly 3k done, this would have been about 5oo miles before oil jet work was done so pretty good really :-) Level shown on the flat and cold engine Below are after 500ml and 750ml have been added to bring back to normal level, gap between adding 500ml and 750ml was about 30 minutes to let oil settle before adding any more
  8. This is how much oil has been used between 22732 to 25612 miles, would have barely done 500 miles before oil jets replaced Sorry posted in wrong thread
  9. I had flashing glow plug light on my Monte's many times, after a while the management light also came on, was only a sensor needed replacing, hopefully same for you
  10. Thanks George, as I said, I'll make sure I can replicate it before taking any further, no immediate panic (I hope) Just while I'm here, off topic for a sec, 215/40/17 tyres will go straight on standard rims won't they? Cheers
  11. I noticed this on mine today more than ever before, I have experienced it in the past but not taken much notice. However, today I was reversing up the slope on my drive and it was a very noticeable judder/knocking, almost as though it was going to stall. I also noticed it on lessons moving away from junctions/roundabouts around 8mph in 2nd, not a problem coming from 1st into 2nd. Will this be covered by my extended warranty if anything is needed to be done? I'm going to make sure I know how to replicate it before a dealer visit
  12. I can confirm that rear tyres have never been swapped with front tyres or even (as far as I know) been off the car at any point from new, maybe only at service or engine change time for any reason :-)
  13. Just my little input, sorry not Greenline related I had 2 Fabia 1.6 TDI's, a 75bhp and a 105bhp, both returned very similar figures on Fuelly over 35k, I know have an Audi A1 1.6 TDI 105bhp which is a tad lighter car and stop/start engine, returns 5mpg LESS than the Fabias did, I brought this up at a few thousand miles with the dealer asking why the same engine was returning less when they claimed it should do far more, never got any further than a few road tests and "we can't do anything about it, it will improve with miles", well it hasn't, I knew it wouldn't because the others didnt, all bought new etc So it will be interesting to see what happens with the fix and see if anything improves
  14. Unfortunately they want £14,75 PER TYRE! added for postage to me :-(
  15. Okie dokie, I'll hunt around and see what I can get in that size, thanks for the tip :-)
  16. I didn't think a few psi would be the problem, I'm more concerned it was a suspension fault making them lean on the inside What advantage would the 215 give me over 205 please? I don't "use" the car as intended, just pottering around really, would it just give a bit more positive feel on the road?
  17. Yes, all standard my car, I converted the pressures that are in the fuel cap but will double check them and the conversion Yes, only 25k from new :-)
  18. Always had them at 36psi rear, don't carry passengers 99% of the time but a spare tyre & holdall in the boot. Never swap tyres around, just let the rears run and run, done 25k miles now and still plenty of tread on them, only notice the noise now our local roads are improving!!
  19. At the service last year I was told my rear tyres were out of shape, nothing to worry about. Now I am thinking of changing the whole set I want to make sure they won't suffer the same fate if it's a problem with the car. Both have gone on the rear, both are out of shape on the inside edges, both Dunlops that have been on from new. A quick research on tyres going out of shape shows it's possibly a suspension fault, I'm wondering if the inside edges going on both are just a coincidence or if anyone thinks it's a suspension fault, what part of the suspension could cause this failure? I'm looking for a bit of advice before I go to my dealer/Skoda CS and be told there's nothing they can do. Hopefully by raising my concerns before I buy new tyres they might inspect it or at least look into it if the same should happen to the new set Edit Tyre pressures are checked weekly
  20. Mine are flush with the rims, maybe they've changed the design in the last 18 months then. Hope they are good for you, I'd have them again if I knew they had the protection. I'll try upload some pictures of my front Kumho compared to read Dunlop
  21. That's a fair bit bigger isn't it? I have Bridgestone Potenza on my A1, they look much bigger than the Kumho on the vRS even though they are both 40 wall, they look higher and sides look rounder. I guess it's just individual manufacturers design
  22. No not at all, love this car, always have, even more so with dirty oil :-D
  23. Does a 45 wall make much noticeable difference to comfort George? My speedo usually reads 1mph lower than satnav or the roadside LED speed check signs, so an increase of 1mph would only make mine spot on the limit which would be perfect if the extra 5mm wall makes a dfference too
  24. I never thought I would be so happy to see dirty oil on my dipstick!! Now 2,250 miles done since oil jets work and only dropped about 5mm on the dipstick, woohoo!!
  25. I've had them on the front of mine for 18 months, my car doesn't get "used" as a vRS but they have felt good on wet and dry roads, the problem I've had is that the walls are cracking, especially on the inside, so keep an eye on that. Also there's no rim protection and the wife has beat the crap out of my rims! Luckily I'm not too precious about them as my learners knock them occasionally too. I'm looking at changing them for TOYO's all round soon, anyone have experience of them?
