Driveway or Road?
Looks like all you would ever need is to have 2 or 3 hi-viz fold flat bollards bolted down on the ground which is yours to secure in your vehicle or exclude others. eg

Driveway or Road?
The situation at the Housing Association property that my mum stayed at was that houses has a parking place and there were a few places for visitors and it was un-adopted and never could be as it was pavers that were on the ground. Residents started calling the police when cars got parked or left long times in the vicinity. The officers should have told them it was none of their business who parked there. Also that they were not going to deal with cars with no VED or Insurance. (The Council do not even clear abandoned cars from public roads unless The Royals are visiting the town, or a car is abandoned outside a councillors house.) Some residents wanted No Parking and Yellow lines and i told them that was down to the housing association not the council. It was a farce, the non clearing of Snow, no Gritting etc and then gritting but no drain clearing and blocked drains. Since it was so bad one winter I had a mate that did private snow clearing and gritting pull in and do the area, *By mistake.*, they complained that it was not done correctly.

Driveway or Road?
It all becomes a bit involved. Is it the Kings highway / public road so adopted and maintained by the public purse. ie Parking Restrictions could be put on the land, Double Yellow Lines, No parking etc. Or is it private property / multiple owners, maintained by land owners but with access to the general public to walk or drive or park on?

New or improved hubs announced, Government EV Loans in Scotland and free & no longer free public charging places..
New Tariffs introduced from 1st April 2024 in Ayrshire for EV charging, Fast & Rapid. This is the end of free charging in South & East Ayrshire. Electric vehicles obviously, so cars and vans, but then that is journalists for you, just say cars. http://dailyrecord.co.uk/ayrshire/new-prices-charging-electric-cars-32142840 Penalty overstay charges, which is good, but then maybe chargers will be available as people might start charging at home now that it will not be free. ..................... So 13.5 x 37 pence Just under a fiver. From a 50 kW charger. Is someone having a laugh. It might completely charging a very small battery as you might have in a PHEV not a BEV. A 50 kWh Battery will not completely charge in 60 minutes, but if you were to get 45 kWh in 60 minutes that is £16.65

Adblue
AdBlue is Adblue and it licensed to be manufactured by whoever. None is better than someone elses. German Trademarked, It is what got VW in so much trouble and it was BMW & Daimler and VW with a cartel trying to have small Adblue tanks for the USA that ended up with the Defeat Devices and the looming death of Diesel Passenger cars.

New purchase likes drinking oil…………. Cthe vrs
We know which cylinder fails in every case. We know about the inlet manifold and the one fouling and cooked spark plug. Actually the over 20% failure rate with CAVE and then the reduced failures with the CTHE after the first ones happened after the change in engine management. So as much as we here from the engineer what the cause is, there are those that can run a Twincharger and use loads of oil and then it can stop using oil with a few simple and inexpensive actions. A remap can help quite a bit. As for valve guides, valve stems and turbo seals, do people think that engines have not been stripped and checked by actual engineers. What did VW Group come up with, 3 different engine managements, 2 different breather updates, and the change of oil spray jets.

Octavia IV oil change intervals
9,400 miles is it not, they will call it 10,000 miles, or 372 days. It was 8,000 miles that VW was showing a couple of years ago. Oil & Filter. The engine might never be run. Makes sense that they want the oil changed. It does not need to be a full service though, that could be variable. As in the Pollen filter, etc. But they will not say that. The idea was that PHEV,s would not cost Owners a fortune because for Business users and BIK. Then the supposed cheap EV miles.

Locking pin for EV cable will not engage followed by complete 12v battery failure.
Welcome. Hopefully there are members here that can help with advise from their experience. It is beyond a joke with Skoda Main Dealers.

New purchase likes drinking oil…………. Cthe vrs
'Fairness' had nothing to do with anything. @thomasaspin Your engine was an oil user. What was crazy was that the CAVE was discontinued and the revised CTHE came in and still there were brand new oil users and they got the Breather Mod and Oil Spray Jet upgrades. For some it worked and some still ended up getting a replacement engine in a CTHE. ................. This was a New CTHE that had this work done.

the truth about electric cars
It is wonderful for cash buyers that just want to purchase a used EV and drive it and keep it a few years. Crash in the market, all these suffering huge losses. Just as long as you are not the muppet that paid far too much. Then as far as the business drivers, as long as the rented car did the job they got it for and then it goes back they will know if they want another or if they are getting an ICE vehicle next. Well maybe the bosses will decide. ......... This is for a £80,000 2024 3 litre diesel Range Rover doing 10,000 miles a year. Just a bit more expensive than the £140,000 Porsche Taycan doing 5,000 miles.

the truth about electric cars
@Graham Butcher Many will do more the 5,000 miles a year even in their weekend / special occasion cars. But if the are a 3 car person doing 20,000 miles a year some of them will be doing lower annual mileage. It was just the Porsche i put at 5,000 miles anything else i do at 10,000. Not that it makes much difference As to down your way, i thought the joy riders were a thing of the past, and i am pretty sure there are less theft of performance BEV,s than there are ICE vehicles. Less fires and maybe even less accidents but then it will be the underwriters that know what is currently the situation and what others are speculating for the future.

I could not find a Reg number for a new RS6 Avant and it would not come up. (find a reg number and i will try it.) So this is an Audi R8 V10 GT 5.2 litre, 611 BHP, 2023, £165,000 and 10,000 miles a year.

Car covers
? Is it an All Weather / Outside protection cover that will not cause damage and is easy on and easy off you are after, or a dust cover for inside use you want?

Auto hand brake sticking when driving off
It is certainly not good, sad really from a new car, but are you in the UK / UK weather, is the car used daily. Do the rear discs have cosmetic corrosion on them when sitting for not very long. It is not going to get better with the passage of time so be sure to let the Dealership know. There is a 6 month / 6,500 mile limit on some things. Likely they will say 'They all do that', maybe even 'Never heard of that before'. A clean up of the brakes might help but quite likely will not.

Driving a DSG Auto
@gumdrop Well that is total guff re the towing or some such function. With a Manual hand / Parking brake if you want to go to N when stopped for prolonged times and not have the brake lights on you can do. You can have Stop / Start operate. No need to go through Neutral & Reverse twice to get in and out of Park. Cars with an E-brake is a slightly different story, and also Autohold will have the brake lights on. Read the owners manual for the particular model. engine and DSG is just 'Simply Clever'.

the truth about electric cars
Here is the cheapest quotes for me on a £65,000 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N first registered 1st March 2024. Parked on Drive, garaged overnight, no motoring offences in the past 5 years, no accidents in 5 years, 20 years NCD. & £1,000 voluntary excess & £400 compulsory. Bottom linked lowest quotes is on the MINI Electric new in August 2023 which they put the value at as under £18,000. Used the same info as for the Hyundai. RRP was over £35,000. (Motability car so i do not pay the insurance on it.) **I got a quoted on the Fastest, big battery, & the most expensive Porsche Taycan 4 Cross Turismo doing 5,000 miles a year & it was under£1,000.**

the truth about electric cars
Insurance groups and cost means nothing if you have loads of money, or just take someone else's car and rag it stupid.

the truth about electric cars
There is more chance of seeing these knocking about and very likely at the same speeds as any other fast cars there are on the roads or even slower ones. They do not wear a cloak of invisibility. At least when someone boots one up a road you do not have to hear them for ages like many a Warm or Hot hatch or bucket of rust that do make more noise than speed.

Photography Thread
- 2024 Road Tax Renewal
As is being trialled in Fife where there is also a fleet of hydrogen powered vehicles. Again where there is a plentiful supply of electricity from wind generation and not enough use being made of it as the transmission cost is high. As well to produce hydrogen from it.- 2024 Road Tax Renewal
We have the Hydrogen threads on the forum. Aberdeen being a city with a couple of Hydrogen Filling Stations, Busses and Council vehicles running on hydrogen and the ships tied up in port going to run on hydrogen. This is what you can have when there is more than enough electricity being generated than is getting used in the region. Just a pity that the Community Centres / Swimming pools can not be heated by this same Hydrogen or Electricity.- 2024 Road Tax Renewal
@Winston_Woof The Social Divide thread is in the EV Section. That is almost a Class Divide. Those with offstreet parking, those that can home or work place charge. Those that might have Smart Meters and offpeak tariffs, then those that have Solar, Wind or Hydro generation for their properties. This might not necessarily be the better off of these countries that make up the UK but there is pretty much a chance it is those. So as far as the Government are concerned you just earn more and you have enough. It is pretty much like any cars you buy or drive what you want or can afford and if money is not an issue then neither is Fuels, VED, Congestion Charges or LEZ,s. Money problems are for plebs.- 2024 Road Tax Renewal
Those that really get it bad are where they can not keep a vehicle that will cost them if in LEZ,s. Or a LEZ like Glasgow where you can not pay the charge as not allowed in and the charge is a fine that doubles each time you commit the offence of taking the non compliant vehicle in. - 2024 Road Tax Renewal
