  1. @StonekeeperI know the milk tanker was not an EV and in this thread there are other examples of road closures and fires with HGV,s and Busses and cars. There have been a few this past week in Scotland. Not heard of an EV fire this week and when there are ones in Scotland we will without doubt hear, there is no way the Scottish Daily Express or Scottish Herald will miss having an article.
  2. @Graham Butcher What is the point about continually saying or posting that EV fires are dangerous and safety is required with EV,s Charging and installing charging points? That seems to be the case. It looks like nobody here are had any personal experience with their EV,s or has knowledge of anyone they know that has. The Manufacturers & Authorities and Emergency Services are all aware of the issue and still EV,s are being built, more are planned and that is that. At least you are warned that there can be issues and danger to life. So now i am off out for a blast in my EV and later i will charge it and hopefully i am not in an accident that is fatal or results in life changing injuries to me or others and that i meet not too many that need 'Guide dogs for the stupid'.
  3. It does have to be political because the Scottish Conservative & Unionists are saying how poor the roll out of chargers are. (More facts needed regarding which political parties for the council in the 32 regions then with the lowest number.) It is true and actually the worst amount performance for the number of chargers installed and working and planned are in Conservative & Unionist run council regions & Scottish Labour or where they jointly run the councils. It is Local Authorities that are responsible for their charging infrastructure. http://democratonline.net/2023/09/24/snp-green-government-miles-off-meeting-electric-charging-point-target
  4. Michelin own BlackCircles & ATS Euromaster and the prices can be cheaper at BlackCircles than at ATS Euromaster. Try and see and have them fitted where suits you not how they pay the fitting and balancing. Check Asda Tyres, Halfords Fitting Centres (Ex MCConechy,s tyre Centres.) All that matters is the Fitted price and what tyres and where fitted suits you. There is 'Farmer Autocare'. (Taking us back to Sir Tom Farmer who started KwikFit before selling many decades ago.) https://farmerautocare.com
  5. @MunsterScotI hope when the rain comes tonight and the colder weather in the next weeks your car steers and brakes OK with those on the front. The experts and tyre fitters and many here will tell you good / new tyres to the rear only. IMO what a load of guff with FWD, AWD vehicles, and even with RWD,s i want good on the rear and the front as i still use the front for steering and braking and if i lose the tail i can maybe do something while i still have traction / braking / steering.
  6. Quite possibly but it depends how used. Many might do high miles and no issues, maybe a keeper that never got the fix. The issue can be ones that were doing too short journeys maybe. EGR,s and DPF,s can be an issue. I would rather be running a 2.0 TDI (without SCR, that is AdBlue, rather than one with.) & rather than a 1.6 TDI. ? Which country are you in, Ireland?
  7. Surely a question for the Mk4 Fabia section if buying one of those or for the General Automotive Chat section.
  8. You have what you get. That is it. ? What do you want covered?
  9. @lol-lolI thought the MINI team were ridiculous celebrating like that with the Track Special vehicle. I would like to know what a showroom model in their drivers hands can do. We might see with the new bigger battery and more power one. See if they can get near ICE MINI,s and 7 mins 40 seconds. ............... They did change battery management and Dynamic Traction Control but it is more suited to Karting tracks than race tracks and even the back road thing is not the best because of the regen setting rather than selecting more regen braking with a shifter rather than too much and far too much as they have it.
  10. You might get as good economy with a petrol as a diesel used during cold weather and then using more diesel during regens.
  11. @JR RS wrong name comes up sorry, can't remove. But @J.R. are you attempting at humour or something. Re engine oil and checking it? Or what do you mean?
  12. There are caravan / residential sites with chargers. One cracker I know has a wind turbine that brings in £250,000 a year and charge £1 a kWh for EV charging. At least that chargers were not grant funded by CPS. There are places that did or do have those and for the first year when they were supposed to give free charging they just put the chargers as out of order and used them for their own vehicles..
  13. His Free charging days are pretty much gone now. & Highland regional council public rapid charging is 70 pence a kWh so around Inveness and north of is damn expensive charging where the infrastructure id dire. Wallyford park and ride in that video is now 35 or 45 pence a kWh on 7 kW (Fast chargers) SLOW. & 65 pence offpeak & 88 pence peak times on Rapids, so to get 50 kW charging or 100 /150. Crazy prices IMO. 35 of 36 chargers available right now. No wonder.
  14. @aidanki Welcome. What use is the car for as in journeys, long or short & how many miles / km per week? Is a TDI the best car for you or could a 1.4 or 2.0 TSI do the job? Look into the VW Group defeat device scandal and cars up to late 2015 and 'The Fix'. Many had no issues and some owners cars had. Especially 1.6 TDI,s after having the Software Update & the Flow device fitted. Check if the car you are looking at had this done.
  15. Bump for @Stonekeeper Bays / chargers with cables like this are not common but there are once around in Scotland.
  16. http://autocar.co.uk/car-news/best-cars/most-efficient-electric-cars Or not that efficient and what matters is when they are not being used in the very best of conditions and with occupants and heating or AC used.
  17. That is what 2 million quid and 1,914 bhp gets you then. Danny Padrosa,s face just so funny when in the car.. This is very non showroom spec and surprises me it could do under 10 minutes. But then it will not have had only 184 ps and running with the 2 regen setting .
  18. I doubt you could or @lol-lol but then maybe you are a very good driver. EDIT, Aaa i see humour! Clarkson did it in the Jag and then Sabine did in the Jag and then there was the van challenge.
  19. You might think it was busy, they do not know the place as never been there or are old. None of those here, just not that bright or observant. Common here with drivers of pick-ups.
  20. Actually lots have them as a works vehicle and are not flash people. Cheap business user vehicles. Some of the nicest people you meet will be at public chargers with them and they drive many miles earning a living. Then there are total ******* about who are clueless and just have what they think is a prestige car.
  21. Guest_ replied to casati's topic in Skoda Enyaq
@philipashbyi charge weekly at the airport or at Broxburn and sometimes in town. They talk a good game but really Edinburgh is almost the worst, but 1st place goes jointly to Aberdeen City & Aberdeenshire.
  22. I have seen a few of the big ugly one on the road or charging, not seen one going quickly on the road. Actually i very seldom do see EV,s speeding. More often than not i see them on normal roads holding people up. There do seem to be EV drivers that do not like if you pass them and they show just how quick the can acclerate. Then they are back to trying to get range.
  23. Have a look in the Air Filter box and see if clean and dry.
  24. When Audi do the long distance EV promoting thing they just cheat and drop off Portable Battery Charging units where there are no chargers and fail to mention that in their vids or publicity. Thank goodness for a Journalist maybe not in the Corporate pocket.
  25. Thanks i missed that. It had not all loaded when i was looking at it. Also that it was not a car in the UK where there is no sellers of 98 ron. Very limited in Ireland to get super unleaded.
