ECU light.
You can sit with the engine idling and end up getting an Engine / Exhaust emissions light come on. It really is no biggy. Are you using E10 or E5 just now and is the car doing a few miles from each cold start? The next thing is that the TSI,s have a GPF, not much of an issue being reported yet with 3 or 4 year old cars but time will tell as time passes and maybe with cars not doing many miles. A GPF gets cleaned out differently from a DPF at a different heat and when the car is off the accelerator.

the truth about electric cars
You leave the British Isles by ferry do you not, so not that far by road from Kent. Funnily people across the channel drive EV,s and many will do it for fun & cover long distances.

85 to replace 80?
@philipashby Will you have home and workplace charging so at a good tariff and some deal for Public charging, discount with a card from Skoda? Edinburgh City public rapid is ridiculous now at 55 pence a kWh but even that is not as bad as some Council areas like Highland region and 70 pence.

the truth about electric cars
It has gone much more crazy than even up to now with the stuff BMW have showing in the Media and sending out in Emails for what they are going to have on sale. The UK Government really will need to get a grip on this but they will not. I wonder about the UK politicians knowing about the cost of things. Grant Shapps MP is a Tesla owner, no idea about Mark Harper MP or Rishi Sunak MP, Alok Sharma MP or others and driving in and charging EV,s at public hubs, maybe some have done this, maybe in other than a Tesla. Sir Alok Sharma MP was chauffeured in EV,s if there were to be photo opportunities.

85 to replace 80?
That must be based on 4.3 miles a kWh. So even if it had 85 kWh usable which it has not and gets 4 miles per kWh it would be 340 miles it gets. So if the true 82 kWh usable and 3.7 mile per kWh it is going to be 303 miles maybe. 3.5 miles a kWh 287 miles. The use of WLTP for BEV,s is just 'Simply not clever',

Carrying 2 Bicycles - Towbar/roof
Not if you use a Bike Rack on the tow ball that flips down with or without the bikes on it. These are usually heavier bike racks. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/466857-thule-velospace-xt-2-bike-carrier-anyone-with-experience

Coolant light on 3m after service
Best get someone to look then because not the best idea to be setting off having not checked. only 200 km i hope and not 200,000 You have a Owners Manual, sadly you do not do checks of your vehicle it seems, ask a friend to look, someone that knows even the basics of cars. I hope your tyre pressures are checked, the TPMS reset, the spare wheel pressure set & the tools there including the locking wheel nut socket, the windscreen washer bottle topped up etc. PS At least dip the oil cold and see there is oil, it should be checked hot though / at normal operating temperature. No guarantee from the Full Service it had enough oil in.

ECU light.
@Phoenixboywhy were they replaced then was it at your request, was there a fault code then when on the diagnostics. They maybe need changing again, they should not but they could need checking. Failing plugs can cause premature ignition coil failure. That ENGINE light is the Exhaust Emissions light and even a engine fart can have that come on. There is the EPC light as well which a Misfire might have come up, if enough misfires in a cycle, and they can log. Needs a proper reader.

Coolant light on 3m after service
@boardtcWhat engine? How many km done? When you opened the bonnet and looked at the coolant where did it show between MIN & MAX? Did you ever look after the Dealer Full Service and see if they had filled it too MAX. An error often as it often sets it,s own level. If there was a FILL TO THIS LEVEL. They would put that on the reservoir / bottle.

the truth about electric cars
Surely by now ICE vehicles at revenue weight in the UK even in the coldest weather should be able to achieve 50 MPG, especially ones not even Family / Taxi size. There are big diesels that get 60 plus MPG even over 70 mph. The Manufacturers were never really trying very hard over the past 30 years to reduce emissions and improve economy / fuel consumption with lots of their ICE vehicles. They were building them to achieve WLTP & RDE2 results in the past 8 years or so. There are some good mile munchers out there and some atrociously poor performing City size, small & medium and large cars about for sale new, and lots of Mild Hybrid and PHEV kidology going on. All this allowed by the EU including the UK. The pathetic inefficient EV,s that are available is just as ridiculous.

ECU light.
The Spark Plug replacement by Skoda recommendations, guidelines or even schedule is at 40,000 miles / 4 years. Being a ACT i would at least be inspecting them. Since taking them out on a 4 year old car likely replacing them.

Timing belt change no longer required at 5 years old?
Well very probably the VW Group brands, VW, Skoda, SEAT & Audi with TSI or TDI,s with Cam belts. So is it all TSI / TFSI,s from all years, 1.0, 1.2, 1.4, 1.5, With or without ACT / COD. Is it all TDI,s with Cam Belts & tensioners and is it leave the cam belt as is even if replacing a water pump.

DVLA inspection after write off repairs
Go to this website maybe. VOSA not DVLA. A total loss is a total loss. If repairable it is a MOT you go get.

Fuel Prices
It is not up to the 190 - 200 pence a litre that Diesel had got to when there was so much moaning about the cost of it, June 2022. How short memories are, but then there are some in the media says at a 10 month high.

Get it Ready For Winter
@VWD really a silicone spray is better than WD40, but then there is a WD40 Silicone rather than the original.

Maybe best stick with your original thread rather than doing another thread.

Drivers door water drips out of bottom drain holes
That is how they are, how they have always been. Remember and unblock the drain holes occasionally. The issue is when the water does not come out, builds up and eventually there is lots in there. Remember and open the passengers door winter time if there are hours, days of freezing but occasionally thaws. You get blocks of ice in there. Skoda have the same thing across different models and even with Mk3, Fabia and likely even with Mk4. The other thing is the design that might have the fuel flap freeze closed on you.

Will a 2012 Fabia wheel fit a 2013 Roomster?
The PCD is the same for the Fabia & the Roomster, 5 x100 & the centre bore is the same so the wheels fit. The Skoda Spare for a Fabia is 185/60 R 15 or 195/55 R 15 so should be fine as a temporary spare on the Roomster.

Running In Query
@EnterNameNow you have lost me, we knew what engine car the OP was talking about and then you introduced comparisons with a 1.5 TSI ACT, then graphs. I am just pointing out how the RPM of a 1.5 TSI ACT and be it in 2 or 4 cylinder mode is relevant with them. Not relevant to the OP,s car though.
-
Running In Query
1.5 TSI , ACTIVE CYLINDER TECHNOLOGY. 2 cylinders if no demand / load on the engine.
-
Running In Query
What is the benefit to the engine running that way?
-
Running In Query
Sounds like a bad idea if you want to be using a range of RPM to have the car running like a slug with a max 250 Nm. Up the Motorway at the max speed limit in D and the car is just using a small amount of its available bhp / Nm sounds fine to me. The DSG sits in D7 unless maybe dropping a gear or 2.

Confused about Timing belt change interval.
There has been a fair number of years now with 1.4 TSI & 1.4 TSI ACT with Cam belts to know if there is a failure rate. Globally. So a known known. (EDIT, Enough years of 1.4 TSI with timing chain / tensioner issues & denials.) Just a few more years and that will apply to 1.5 TSI & 1.5 TSI ACT,s. At present VW Group seem to be happy that owners can suck it and see.

July 2019 Karoq 1.5 SEL DSG - DSG very occasional whirring/whine in 1st
@Paul1984When was the car first registered and how many miles has it done? DQ200's are fine. Thee was a World Wide Recall in 2012 that excluded Europe, then in 2014 a European Recall Action. Then in 2017 a Recall Action on 2013-2015 ones. This has been repeated twice in Australia and other countries. But that is pre Karoq. There was the DQ200 issue with Some Karoq, but lets ignore that because we do not want to dwell of such small numbers with issues. As long as it is not your car obviously. There was / is a Software update for those that need it.
