how to deactivate parking lights?
Welcome. Which model of Mk2 Fabia is it? (With a vRS the DRL,s are also the Sidelights but when the Sidelights with the headlights on they are not so bright.) Is it the Side Lights, or DRL,s (Day Time /Day light driving lights.) ? Parking lights are a front and rear sidelight on when the ignition is off and the indicator stalk is down. For when parked.

It will be a DQ200 7 speed twin dry clutch DSG then and that means no Servicing schedule / oil changes for the DSG.

19s fitting new tyres
Would the people who do the refurbishing not be the people to ask? Do they not remove tyres and fit ones? If you get no answer here maybe ask in this thread. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/308928-tyre-fitters-who-do-not-mark-your-alloys-and-those-to-avoid/page/3

My 2023 MINI Cooper S Level 3 Electric leased from Motability which will be with me for 3 years & now a 2021 MG5 as a dog wagon.
The Vredestein All Seasons have been good in the dry and wet and have 800 miles on them and have been at 37 psi. I have a good few miles to do this week so i put the tyres up to 43 psi until the weather gets colder just to see if it makes any difference to the range. I thought i might as well try DRAGY with the pressures higher. 14*oC and on the flat and dry grippy usual road. Only the first run with traction control on was under 7 seconds, the rest were with or without Dynamic Traction Control Active and i had too much wheel spin. OK for all seasons though. Then pics just the run back home downhill.

@Paul1984Welcome. What is your Karoq, is it a FWD 1.5 TSI ACT DSG. So with a DQ200 DSG and no Haldex? No DSG to service and no 4x4 system to be serviced.

the truth about electric cars
His car L88 DVY was first registered in October 2021. MY22, So not built in 2022. But no matter, a recall is a recall. 'Certain cars are being recalled'. So his headline is 'My EV is being recalled as it is a EV hazard so i drove.... So he purchased it on the finance and he can hand it back. Scally! Everything said needs taken with a pinch of salt. PS I had to laugh at the comment on MINI Cooper S,s. (They were SE until recently) What does S mean anyway these days. Sizzle maybe with the EV. Now a Taycan Turbo S is a p1ss take of the use os 'Turbo'. PPS Is it really Illegal in the UK to wear Flip Flops when driving as long as you have control of the vehicle? Just saying a load of rubbish as though it is fact is not illegal & can earn you money as you have an audience.

the truth about electric cars
He struck me as a Scally, and i do not believe he had ever heard that term before. Are the council not losing money on the e-Scooter trials. You can be sure that Porsche will not let you burn to death. Call them and they will tell you to get out of the car, and if it does not go on fire get back in and pop round and see them. No hurry, just when ever suits, maybe in a week or 3.

Automatic Gearboxes - Are they good? Are there any problems? Advice needed.
If the car drives OK then it drives OK. I was just pointing out if there was to be a future expense that is what it could be with a DQ200 DSG. You can not buy a car and then get your nickers in a twist over every potential issue. Even brand new cars can have faults come time.

Octavia IV 1.5 TSI DSG won’t rev above 2500 rpm in S mode
It sounds like the car has been left in 'In transit mode' and not reset at the PDI. Obviously going along the road you can get the accelerator to the floor and have the cars full RPM without kicking down or dropping gears. Well you should be able to. There will not be another car in that dealership that does 2,000 or 2,5000 rpm. Other than when stationary.

? Are they on at the same time as the full beam is?

the truth about electric cars
Probably, just not in the UK. Not much has happened since that article 16 months ago. As it is getting wipers or car batteries or tyres or exhausts in the UK can still be a fiasco.

Get it Ready For Winter
This winter the Blue stuff will be my answer to lazy exterior car care. 'Much cheapness', i will see how it does. Usually i use the Pink stuff which is just the same as Carplan Demon Shine as far as i can tell, it usually goes in a bucket of water or in a sprayer & does the job without any effort.

Not as responsive as Octavia
@JFJ Could you say what you are comparing here, is it a 1.4 TSI 150 PS Manual vs a 1.5 TSI ACT 150 ps Manual or have they a DSG, and what age was the Octavia?

Wales new reduced to 20 mph speed limit in built up areas starts on Sunday 17th September 2023.
On the news (BBC) they are saying the Default 20 mph limit will affect 1/3 rd of the Road Network in Wales. Is that true. 33.3% of the roads in Wales are in Residential Areas and currently with a default 30 mph speed limit?

That will be the norm then unless another max speed is posted. http://bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-66774380 It was supposed to be introduced in Scotland long before now because the Scottish Greens managed to have the SNP under their thumb. Maybe it will come to pass sometime.

There is a 9 litre petrol tank in the REX.

Automatic Gearboxes - Are they good? Are there any problems? Advice needed.
The recall was on some DQ200,s built from 2013-2015 fitted to what ever car and it was in Europe and in other parts of the world and started in 2017 and again twice in Australia. There should be a record of it having been done, or not required. The point is that this is just a software update, it is not '34F7' which was when the Synthetic oil was changed to mineral and a software update. Done or not done is neither here nor there on a 10 year old car. What matters is does it work well now. Needing replacement clutch packs is more likely to be what would be an issue.

the truth about electric cars
Well PodPoint went with 60 or more of these petrol powered vans that will run supposedly 60 miles on electricity without the petrol engine running if they are charged up. Fair enough. (Is that when empty and there is a blue moon and it is a balmy night?) Re Van vid. ***Combined, 304 miles range from 36 litres of Unleaded is a truly amazing thing. 31 kWh battery *** Some Edinburgh Taxi Drivers with these were sitting more than an hour on what was a limited amount of chargers and having a break and ignoring others wanting on a charger. Sitting charging to 100%. For free, Then Edinburgh Council introduced the 30 minutes max charge time and a fee (£30 overstay) & it turned out that was enough to get a charge in and go do some earning money. 35pence & kWh. Now it is 60 minutes max time charging time and 55 pence a kWh and i no longer see them sitting 'Long time mister' don't bother me. 162 mpg, amazeballs. Even 132 mpg is fandabby dozzy. 36 litres is nearly 8 gallons. if you were getting 60 miles from the battery and then you need 244 more miles. 244 divided by 8 is 30.5 MPG. 370 miles. say 70 of that from the 31 kWh charge, then 300 from the 36 litres of unleaded. 37.5 mpg. If you are using battery and fuel combined and getting an additional 100 mpg how fantastic. Why can it not go 800 miles then by WLTP figures or the testers?

the truth about electric cars
When you do a working day a few hundred miles north or away in any direction it is usual to return to where you came from or might stay. It is known as a return journey when ever it is done. I did wonder about @lol-lolquoting what i posted. & if going pretty direct it is 254 miles, so that extra 50 miles is an other hour. But then i never mentioned John O' Groats just a few hundred miles north. I know what a few is and it is usually more than 2. The PodPoint are at Tesco in Wick or Thurso & to the west @ Ullapool or across on the islands. .
