@tomtorIs that the Oil level checked stone cold, engine not started? When was the last Oil & Filter Service or the oil level checked? Where is it when checked at Normal Operating Temperature so at least above 80*oC, parked on the flat and after a few minutes stopped.

I never said they damage your engine. What i know is that people use them, flush out a load of carbon and get issues with their car and Emission / Engine lights and then ask what went wrong. What went wrong was their car was running fine. It maybe needed longer runs and a bit of a roasting now and dont run a diesel like a City Car. As to Winter Grade fuel we used to actually store it for running after winter. Because of it being less Hygroscopic and a higher octane. I love the stuff, love Ethanol as well with the right engine. Loved LPG for it,s higher octane. But then it took me years to get to know this stuff.

Good. That will be the 99 octane min that was available to you in the South at that time, and since. It all meets a Minimum Octane. What is nice in the EU / Across the Channel Europe is that Shell V-Power pump fuel can even be 102 ron in Italy and elsewhere near Factories and Test Tracks. 100+ Octane at a fair price across the channel is simply clever to run on if the ECU / engine managements likes the higher octane. We used to get BP Ultimate 102 ron at a filling station near Knockhill.

Nothing. Bl00dy marvellous oop north IMO & IME, just like EU Winter spec, 99 ron Min maybe and even 100+ ron type performance just as you get across the channel. But then you maybe need the Map or Switchable map, or dyno cars to know the difference, or just try filling up. DRAGY first then with the new stuff in. No point just going 'seat of the pants.

Great. Cars that can benefit from a higher octane do, and those that do not don't. Since we all drive and put in fuel where ever we do in the country and pay for it then if we pay close attention then we know what works for us. Those that do not even know what is on sale or they buy maybe will be clueless. Not long now until Winter Grade Fuel starts being distributed in Scotland and the north of England. and then eventually further south.

@lmb Did the name TESCO Momentum 99 not give you a clue to the Octane? Do you actually look at pumps and see what it is that you are buying in the way of Minimum Octane, or Cetane? What is the actual Octane Booster in Octane Boosters? ESSO E5 Super is now 99 ron min in the UK. (Declaration, my tuned Turbo / Twincharger petrol engines loved Ethanol and low air temperatures / Winter, & the Fuel in the UK from Mid October is Winter Grade petrol and diesel and the Petrol less Hygroscopic. @lmb Where do you get facts from? Maybe you need to actually find out about E10 95 Ron and E5 Super Unleaded 97 or 99 ron Minimum in the UK. Royal Dutch Shell V-Power was 98 ron years ago while Tesco Momentum was 99 ron and always has been 99 Ron Min. Greenergy that produces it partners with Shell importing base fuels. BP was 98 ron minimum for years in the UK before going to 97 Min. Sainsburys E5 97 Ron Minimum can be 99 ron min depending on where the supplies come from as the market prices change. Greenergy supply Independents as well as the biggest retailers. Then as far as E5. That is not the same Ethanol content all around the UK or from the different distributors or depots. I am running my 25 mpg Diesel on the 10 pence a litre more expensive Gulf premium diesel simply because it stinks less and smokes less on start up now, and often never goes as much as 25 miles a week.

The Authorised Repairers / Network / Main Dealership got the Technical Product Information. They know what VW Group / Skoda have said starting July 2023. There is someone at the Service Desk with a key board and a phone and probably a Service / Workshop manager a few steps away. They can call a friend. As to the Contractor working for Skoda UK / VW UK doing Customer Services they are just giving the same information, well pretty much with a few tens of thousands of Miles difference. This comes about because they really have friends available that might never see a car anytime in their working week. What stops people getting important info from Skoda Customer Services is those that keep asking stuff that Dealership Employees can or should answer easily.

Swings and roundabouts. (& there are lots of roundabouts in the UK. ) VW Group / Skoda have a long way to go to sort out their brake components before Euro 7 comes in. Maybe the Ice vehicles need to go back to Drum Brakes as the EV,s have and the Dealerships will need to service them and remove drums and clear out and deal with particles and not just say in Skoda Websites they Check Brakes. They used to somehow at dealers manage to clear out Drums and service yet never take the rear wheels off...

@LeeYes you can coast in an EV if there is the ability to have levels of regening and you choose to coast and not retard the vehicle with regen. (A member mentioned on here taking the shifter out of D and into N for coasting & i said i don't even try that in an EV. really due to the type of the shifters and concern over making a mistake because generally they do shift too easily. You should not in error be able to go to Reverse, but until you try you do not know. if you did likely the box would ignore you. There are cars that are hard on tyres, Skoda Enyaq 80 on the rears and Skoda Superb with Saw toothing issues because of misalignment.
