  1. Cars can go wrong. It is how the manufacturers deal with them, and the dealership staff, and the knowledge shared and owners not messed about. From the Kodiaq section. Top Engine Mounts. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/507986-top-motor-mounts http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/504536-slight-noise-when-accelerating-and-turning-left DQ381,s Pre 2019. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/505394-gearbox-oil-leak A newer car in here. 2. Here @Awesamhas posted last Sunday what he found out about DQ381,s on some affected cars 2017-2018. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/514323-which-dsg-gearbox-is-fitted-to-a-2020-model-year-superb-sportline-plus-280
  3. You need to explain. is the DSG faulty right after the mechanic did the work on the engine or some while later. ? Do you mean the cam belt was changed only in the last few days? Even while away? Do you mean that just now the DSG is faulty and you think that is related to the cam belt replacement? You need a mechanic and one that knows about automatics / DSG,s. ? When was the DSG last serviced (miles and months or years) and how many miles has the car done in total?
  4. All the tech in the world and now cameras / radar in vehicles, lane keep assist, collision avoidance and still tyres are wrecked on potholes, drain covers and very often that big sheet of steel that straddles a lane at a diversion / road works, or other iron works on roads. I like XL (Reinforce sidewall) tyres for a bit more protection and damn the harder ride if there really is as i never notice that. Tyres can still get wrecked, but maybe just less often.
  5. The majority of 1.5 TSI ACT engines in Skoda Models have not gone beyond 5 years, there are some and more as they get past 5 years old. There are the sister brands that had these engines earlier and are past 5 years old and VW & Warranty companies will be leaning about any failure rate globally and country by country. The Recommendations, Guidelines, Specifications or even Schedules for Servicing & Maintenance might well change for World Regions including those for the UK. This has happened over generations of cars, Service Intervals like when Skoda was still Codes for Fixed OIl & Filter Changes in some engines as they went Euro 5 and for a couple of years yet the same engines were in a VW, SEAT or Audi and had a code allowing Variable / Flexible Oil & Filter servicing. The DSG or S-Tronic advice was different and confusion on which was which Semi Automatic. This still happens. Haldex advice changed, Brake Fluid Schedules also. VAQ diffs, Cam Belt advice and recommendations have changed on vehicles / engines for decades now. You do not know how cars / engines are after 6 years or maybe 80,000 miles until you get to 6 years and 80,000 miles, you learn the percentage of failures and the success of good design, components and manufacturing and you can adjust Servicing & Maintenance advice. (That is the manufacturers, dealers , garages, parts suppliers and warranty providers that should gain the knowledge.) Not just a guess from social media / forums and numbers reporting issues or not putting issues out in public. The only issue is that people might not actually bother to learn any of the stuff, learn it on the job from someone without a clue or a care. Learn about keeping vehicles long term from people that do not keep vehicles any length of time outwith the Manufacturers Warranty. Or drive the works vehicles like many do in Car Dealerships, Demonstrators, Courtesy cars / Management cars of which they never even lift the bonnet of to check anything or top up including the oil.
  6. An Air Filter has shown for the last few years as due at 6 years / 60,000 miles. (It should be checked and replaced as needed. IMO) The pollen filter is at each 2 years, 20,000 miles. but that needs looked at / checked. But 3 pollen filters so the 3rd service if bi-annual and the Air Filter could be at the same time. It used to be the Pollen filter @ 2 years which was sometimes called by Skoda a Major Service & the Spark Plugs or Diesel Filter @ 4 years / 40,000 miles & the Air Filter @ 4 years / 40,000 miles & the DSG oil service. Brake Fluid at 3 years then each 2. Before that it was at 2 years then each 2. (Some models are back to showing that.) Haldex was @ 4 years / 40,000 miles, then changed / reduced to @ 30,000 / 3 years. The old system of charging for a Major Service @ 2 years old had many paying the same price as the 2nd Major Service @ 4 years / 40,000 miles. Yet at 2 years no air filter provided / fitted, no spark plugs, or with a TDI a fuel filter. Some places fitted fuel filters @ 4 years / 40,000 miles to TSI,s in for a service. The whole Minor / Major, or Interim & Major, or just Major / Major was changed to Oil & Inspection & then Extended Scope and what is checked / changed is a mystery to many including the people doing the work. There are places that do what should be done, check what needs doing etc. Not opening an Air Filter box and checking for 6 years is really so ridiculous but happens.
  7. @SkodasavWhat did your 'All in one' service plan cost and when did you buy that? Was this the first service carried out with the plan you bought or the 2nd one?
  8. The tyre is needing replaced before hitting more ironworks on a road or what ever that does get hit. I hate having to scrap a tyre / tyres, but then a blow out is worse expense or safety wise.
  9. Welcome. Well that will save Dealerships lots of work, and owners lots of money. Is that Skoda UK removing the recommendation to replace @ 5 years because it was not Skoda CZ or VW Group outside the UK,s recommendation, guidelines, or schedule. Is that the same for all the other Euro 6 TSI's with Cambelts? http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/510175-karoq-cam-belt-change-start-saving-now
  10. ^^^ This. Anti freeze / Summer Coolant / Corrosion Inhibitor. All in there with the H20.
  11. @lol-lolI am charging at Edinburgh Airport now on a 7kW charger just going to 98%>. There are only 2 posts with 22kW AC chargers and no guarantee they are working. Loads of 7 kW are out of order and as for the 6 Rapids the chance of getting on the Tethered AC on the side is hit or miss because of the way people park in bays, abuse the chargers by staying locked in when not charging. Having 11kW AC on the next car will suit my needs at times. Small battery. 3 hours max. Or use an AC while waiting for a rapid. Ps. There is Tesla superchargers near but then the drivers are not going to get to abandon the car for many many hours at them. So the plug in here, set the timer and block the bay and no penalty charge.
  12. I suggest you avoid a main dealers other than go in and ask about their prices, and then maybe ask the Service desk person to go get the master tech to speak to you. Use a local independent garage, someplace trusted in your area. Go speak to the boss / manager / mechanic there about your idea for Servicing & Maintenance and replacing the likes of the rear drums just because you have no idea how they are. You do need servicing of the brakes, a brake fluid change, maybe new pads, maybe new discs, maybe drums, but find out from the mechanic. Not a Service Desk Receptionist.
  13. No need to worry, the coolant pump does continue and make sure that all is well when you have the ignition off. Making sure the engine is not cooked. PS. Flagged for a mod to move out of Fabia 'Guides' to the Fabia Mk3 section.
  14. Edinburgh City Council charging tariffs. This includes the Park & Rides & @ Edinburgh / Ingliston Park & Ride @ the Airport. At least it is now 1 hour max charging on Rapids rather than the 30 minutes it was when 35 pence a kWh.
  15. I will put this here rather than in a Tesla Model 3 thread, as it might be helpful.
  16. @skomaz Re ORA Funky Cat servicing. (Just cross the dual carriageway from the dealer i am getting the MINI from. That is about they only thing similar.) An article from this week on Peter Vardy Dundee. Well some customers. http://thecourier.co.uk/fp/news/dundee/4523083/peter-vardy-dundee-protest
  17. @PowerredHave you actually checked that on your car? They did not with some VW Group models. but check the later ones. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/438223-didnt-realise http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/432645-vw-group-vehicles-auto-hold-do-the-rear-brake-lights-come-on http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/497760-code-out-the-brake-lights-on-autohold http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/433302-auto-hold-brake-lights
  18. @skomazThere is no point having a car with no dealership near. Or a bad dealership. eg Arnold Clark / Park's Motor Group. It was bad enough getting a car 1 mile away from a good dealership and them giving up the brand and then ending up with Arnold Clark 20 miles away as your place to deal with. Mazda would be hopeless and it has a battery the size of a MINI, & terrible efficiency. As for Funky Cat. Big battery, big range, and long trip on a transporter if it goes wrong. @lol-lol Toyota had the skills with a car with a 32 litre fuel tank and 2 rear seats to put a motor at the rear and a battery pack enough for a city car where the engine was, or motor there and battery at the rear. As it was as an ICE it has an amazing turning circle, like a Honda-e or other EV,s have now. More room for a battery and far better underpinning / suspension than a SMART Fortwo EV had & still has.
  19. @lol-lolI loved my Toyota iQ and it was very much like automatic Mini,s i had just better and bigger. (Even more room for 3 in there than the modern MINI has.) The reason i got rid was just because of how people tailgated even though in corners they could not keep up with it. I never will understand why Toyota never did an EV version.
  20. Changed my mind and went WTF and went & changed order for a murdered out car, no chrome. Carbon black leather, Midnight Black II paint, Piano black trim, privacy glass, still the 16" alloys in black. Not my car after all.

  22. @lichfielddriverWell a New car with 30 miles has Green Tyres, maybe the pressures still too high and then the brakes have not had wear and are still tight. You have had your issues over the years with your cars / taxis and engine failures. Thank goodness for a simple 1.0 TSI with a DSG even though they have GPF,s since 2018. Well matched engine and 2 pedal driving for car weight and maybe the wheels scrabble for grip, but then so do many driving a 1.5 TSI, or those that had 1.6 TDI,s with a DQ200. ? Where do you get a Skoda Karoq R-line, is it a Sportline?
  23. So he is misinforming. It is not the UK Government, or a law. The ASA is not Government funded it is self regulating advertising in the UK. Just a small point but one that someone making a video should find out.
  24. @JacquesZaWeocome. Do you actually have a Hand Brake that requires you to put a hand on to apply the Parking Brake, or an e-Brake that requires a finger to put on or that can apply when you take off your turn off the ignition, take off the seat belt, Open the door?
  25. @lol-lolJust grabbing one while i can. Changing circumstances, not needing to do so many miles, so just for local use and health issues (worried about eyesight and back.) so just as well to have a fun car. Now Motability prices for Q3 and no advance payment, money for ordering a new car & some good condition money due handing back the Corsa. (LOL at the condition.) No point waiting on the next generation car as i will not be able to afford it. Really not wanting to go order a Kia Niro in poverty spec even with a big battery & range.
