  1. @dickieboy Was it an actual 'Recall' your car was in for like the Matting, or Recall Action / Service Campaign. Was it about 'Condensation' or 'Degradation' of the battery? ? How many miles has your car done? http://skoda-auto.com/services/recall-actions
  2. An 'Official Answer' from whom on the other end of a Chat. Talk to a UK Main dealership Workshop / Service Manager and get them to show you the Official documentation they have, or can get at their finger tips. Those are people who,s job 5 1/2 days a week is about Servicing & Maintenance and repairs of Skoda / VW Group vehicles. That and Up-selling. 210,000 km / 130,000 miles.
  3. I carry / use a £20 Cycle Track Pump with a gauge on it to inflate car tyres as well as cycles and other things with Schrader or Presta valves. Non digital, dead reliable. Easy for a person with one leg to use and quick. (People never consider a leg amputee and using a foot pump or pedal bin.) I have even put some air into tyres of 4x4,s and commercials, that is harder work.
  4. Well Euro 5 being cheated by VW with defeat devices was an issue. Euro 6 and then WLTP and going to 0w 20 FS IV oil to get results and still they messed up the software to get results and the Certification for the WLTP / RDE. They stuck with the 1.4 TSI without ACT for the PHEV. Because the 1.4 TSI was actually not able to get the results. (In North America & Australia you can get a 1.4 TSI with an 8 speed autobox.) Now you get 1.0 or 1.5 TSI with mild hybrid, and 1.5 TSI without ACT and a PHEV. The benefit of engine development was forced on VW group and they care not about your servicing costs. A 1.5 TSI ACT might have a DQ200 DSG and the DSG needs no servicing. A 1.5 TSI ACT DSG 4x4, so engine, DQ381 service at 80,000 miles or sooner, Haldex at 30,000 / 3 years, and it was showing as Cambelt at around £1000 at 5 years old. That is an expensive car. But then a 2.0 TSI / TDI with a cam belt, a DQ250 needing serviced @ 40,000 miles with haldex at 30,000 / 3 years is not cheap either.
  5. SAIC to build a plant in Europe. They are not saying if they will build MG,s there. http://bbc.co.uk/news/technology-66117178
  6. @FrankNicklin A 1.4 TSI is a different cost from a 1.4 TSI ACT, as is a 1.5 TSI different from a 1.5 TSI ACT. A 1.0 TSI is more expensive to do than a 1.2 TSI. Not just about parts, it is a time / labour.
  7. @SkodasavOn the phone to who, a local Dealership? If it was there that you got the duff gen i would be asking to talk with the Dealer Principal about the employees advice. If you call Customer Services at VW / Skoda in the UK then there is a good chance of talking to someone that will have to find out from someone else and still get duff gen.
  8. @simsimWelcome to the forum. Did you reset the TPMS after inflating the tyres?
  9. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/507986-top-motor-mount http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/504536-slight-noise-acceleration-and-turning-left @J.R.they might have no interest in a fault. But then that is just how they are. A crack is a major failure and that is 7 years since Skoda started using the DQ381,s Maybe just a one off, nothing to bother about, certainly not in the UK where VW Group can do as they please. In other world regions where there are a growing number of issues with MCU then that will bite them in the bum, and if there are issues with casings then they maybe want to pay attention. Australians Authorities can really tear them a new one because VW groups failures have been ongoing now for over a decade with DQ200 DSG.
  10. @lol-lolThey show the 2023 Volvo Polestar 2 as having 127 mph max speed.
  11. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/514725-oil-change-on-4wheel-drive-system @Skodasav It needs doing, and properly. ? Was this a Skoda UK or CZ employee or someone at a dealership, or was it AI / Bot? I would love to know what the person you spoke to does as a job. Any more brain cells and they would be even more dengerous.
  12. It is a DQ381 with a Service Schedule, guidelines, recommendations or specification of 80,000 mile oil changes. So not out of service interval. The Link i posted to a thread has my post with the sorry tale of failures people are having from various threads. Get in touch with SKODA UK.
  13. @sdb So we have a long story shortened. More info needed. You say an Independent garage. Even out of Warranty you want an Authorised VW Group technician checking the gearbox, maybe Skoda / VW involved in having the gearbox tested / examined. Lets get the whole story please. ....................... There is no DSG with a 4 year Oil Service. (The Skoda chart i am showing below is wrong in showing 4 years unless by chance that is 40,000 miles by then.) There is a 40,000 mile service with a DQ250, and a 80,000 miles with a DQ381. ? So how or why is there a major crack in the gearbox? Has the car been in an accident? WHAT WET CLUTCH DSG IS FITTED, IS IT 6 SPEED DRY, DQ250 OR A 7 SPEED WET, DQ381? I have a post where i compiled DQ381,s with issues as posted on Briskoda. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/514323-which-dsg-gearbox-is-fitted-to-a-2020-model-year-superb-sportline-plus-280 This is about a DQ200. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/513192-dsg-repair-costs-should-skoda-pay
  14. Maybe Dacia will be different from Skoda as in they will get publicity from Motorsport but actually then offer Sporty cars that customers can buy from showrooms / dealerships. Skoda have the Rally success and motorsport history and all you can get are 150ps Fabia, Scala or Kamiq. Or a Taxi / Airport size Octavia with 245 ps. Not that Skoda have anything that size in Motorsport.
  15. @NGD Is there really no Trip meter, or even 2 settings, or are you just failing to find them?
  16. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/505586-cost-of-cambelt-change/page/2
  17. Some might be double checking the advice on the 1.5 TSI ACT Cambelt replacement. Over £3,000 for the tool. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/514702-cambelt-change-necessary-after-5-years
  18. ? What new E5 / 97 min or 99 min fuel would that be? Super Unleaded has been sold in the UK for a long time now. E10 might well have more bio in than pre September 2021 but really i think he is blowing smoke.
  19. @Skodasav Does the service history show that the haldex has been serviced? Possibly last year when it was due to be or anytime.
  20. @CarlodieselWho did you claim off, a local authority or the Company that is responsible for that area or trunk routes. You need to know where and when you had the incident. The discussions / threads are here in the other sections, successful and un-successful claims. Where their is blame there is not always a claim, or should not be. Maybe it is your partner or whoever was driving that the claim is with, like in the OP,s case here. PS Re a Monte Carlo Fabia (or vRS) on 205/40 R 17,s and everyone making claims when they wreck a tyre or wheel would bankrupt the country. I must have bulged handful of tyre in that size but i got them free as they were takeoffs from when the cars pulled left and Skoda approved fitting Pirelli Zero Nero rather than sort the mis-alignment of the cars from the factory. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/512714-pot-hole-damage-claiming-compensation
  21. The Farce that is Arnold Clark Service Centre and a Motability Car getting a MOT and a Recall Action and me getting a Courtesy Car or Hire car on Monday took another hour of my time today. This has been just a ba-lls up all along. I was told their Corsa,s were off the road, no other Automatics, leave it will them Motability will provide a car. Since i got no Texts from the RAC who arrange that or Europe Car that provide the car i have chased up AC a few times. All in hand, no problems i was told. So today i get the call. Motability will not provide a car but they will get you a taxi. I asked did you tell them it is a 20 mile journey and £50 a time and then anytime i need to use a taxi it comes 20 miles? No she never. Did you tell them it is not just a MOT it is the recall and it is doubtful you can do it in a day. and do you know or have you asked the workshop about the other cars getting a recall and how long it took. No she never told Motability about a Recall, and she only has the car booked in for a MOT. This is several times i have called, 3 times at least i spoke to her. Past issues at the branch and pathetic customer service involved her being in discussions with management and me. ............. I called Motability, Hire car arranged for Monday, if not at the Dealership at 8.00 AM the Taxi Account is set up and i get a run home and car delivered to my house Monday Morning. My phone pinged during the call and that was the Taxi Company, confirmed, and then the RAC confirmed, and in an hour Europecar will call me. The Motability Call Handler has logged a formal complaint about the Motability Approved Dealership & Customer Service. I did tell her that i had done that with AC over the past carry on,s and really i have no idea why they are getting to continue on the scheme. But then they are Scotland's biggest car dealership group. PS. Well that was simple, RAC and Europe car on the ball, calls received, car confirmed £1 fuel deposit taken. .................... This review of the MINI 3 years ago is pretty much as i found the car to drive back a couple of years ago which was a car on the 16" 195 tyres rather than the 205/45 R 17 he has on the car. I reckon i can get more range from the 16" wheels and narrower tyres. MINI are good at showing the spec on the different tyres for what ever tyres you get. RSC is Run Flats. MINI tyres have a 'Star' symbol on them. It is pot luck what the car will come with tyre wise. £35,000 ish RRP now. Not what Motability are paying that for it though. (My option which i pay for come to £550.) I have a set of CrossClimates in 16" which can go on. (I also have 205/45 !7 all season tyres which really are not 'Simple Clever' when roads are bad and alloy rims vulnerable.)
  22. The Belt might well be the same. Other components being replaced are not the same. Yes there were and are 1.4 TSI and TSI ACT, and 1.5 TSI non ACT and 1.5 TSI ACT across the 4 brands. I have not heard from anyone's mouth or heard or ready anyplace of any catastrophic failures or issues other than from the work being done and wrongly. That is an issue. So what we need is THE CAR MANUFACTURERS RECOMMENDATION, That is VW, SKODA, SEAT or AUDI, and then you might have the Importers recommendation, guidelines, specification or schedules in writing. Get it from the horses mouth, get it in writing, get it confirmed exactly what is required to be done when in the UK if it is a UK registered car with an Extended or Used car Warranty. The OP has pretty well tried to get the info, has the info from a source and that might or might not be worth the paper or screen it is written on.
  23. @GodzillasdadThere is an excellent Automatic Mechanic 55 miles south in Forfar and he does repairs for garages in and around Aberdeen. I do not know if he is on holiday just now though because this is about his usual weeks. Because people put their cars here for him to do the repairs i do not know of any good Auto / DSG techs in Aberdeen. You have John Clark Skoda but i do jot know any Independents. You could try calling my mate, but if he is working he will have a list of jobs waiting. I will pop past in a while and see if he is in. http://charlesbutlermotor-forfar.co.uk
  24. @LythamjohnWhat is a characteristic of the car? More likely a characteristic of Skoda Dealership staff. 'They all do that', or 'Never heard of that before.' It will be a DQ381 you have not a DQ380. I corrected the link in the post above yours. I have a compilation of the DQ381 threads. Most are about pre-2019 DQ381,s but there are newer ones with issues. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/513192-dsg-repair-costs-should-skoda-pay
