  1. @lol-lolThere was a few EV drivers i spoke to yesterday while apologising blocking the bay. Luckily Teslas could charge still on the CCS, and most others to the passenger side of me. So there are some with New EV's and learning, and some are ready to jump ship and go PHEV for their next cars. Some can not believe that after waiting and getting cars that chargers, apps, reliability and availability to charge is so poor. As for passers by, they hear the horror stories and ask about EV's and seem to know they are right that they are not for them.
  2. Renault are hopefully going to have the good smaller cars out next year. Next years MINI is still a no no for me because 3 doors. If there was a Clubman electric i would have one. Not a MINI like a Countryman size which is MAXI. (Aceman) Renault 5 or maybe a 4 EV might do. 2024 should be good for choices / variety. If my Corsa is really gubbed & it never came back to me i would not go and order anything else right now, i would keep my £71 a week and use it to buy petrol or diesel. EDIT. Car now with Dealership. Backlog on work being done on Electric Cars so next week it might get looked at. That will be EV qualified technicians there is a shortage of. Drop links will get done. Too early for its first MOT which is due August but Motability want done 6-8 weeks earlier with a service. If i was extending the lease on it and not ordering a replacement or the replacement was after August then the MOT need not done that early.
  3. It is nothing to do with popularity, a Superb Scout is popular in the UK. It is UK Fleet Average Co2 figures for VW Group UK, Skoda, SEAT, Audi, VW. VW & partners like MG are not First Registering enough Mild Hybrid, PHEV's or BEV's and low emission ICE models in the UK. That can mean higher emission models get dropped or suspended from production for a while.
  4. @skomaznot just Vauxhall / Opal, it is as poor with Peugeot and Citroen / DS or the rest of Stellantis EV's. They need to get on with building clean sheet models and not just mess about beefing up suspension on the BEV over the ICE versions. Their software is pretty crap and they are tweaking that and fitting more ECO tyres to add to the range of the vehicles so that Car Magazines and sales stuff can kid people on.
  5. Looks never come into it with me if you are after a competent car so actual function over style. TDI, DSG, Haldex, Winter Pack, RR protection etc. Best get that order in as i think this combination is one Skoda might discontinue. Be sure the Salesperson is being honest as far as they can on build week & delivery, well as honest as they can be as they are not really in the loop.
  6. Some sales executive @ Henrys might just be in a helpful frame of mind.
  7. Would you not be better going with the All Season tyre option rather than paying more for your 'Aero alloy wheels' as an option?
  8. RAC Motabilty team have been very good, if a bit lacking in knowing what they are doing or have done, 4 welfare calls to me since yesterday afternoon. Asking if all had gone well mid afternoon when the car was still where it had been since morning. Then a call to say the recovery vehicle was going to be with me in another 30 minutes which is was, about 5 pm. Then a call at 8pm to ask if all had gone well and the car was on it's way to the dealership. Another welfare call just now asking if everything was OK and has the recovery vehicle arrived yet. Each one tells me to just call if i need a pre-paid taxi, or a hire car.
  9. @P100HP Did ypu actually get to communicate with Skoda UK Head Office and Skoda / VW Employees, Executive Team or were you dealing with this Crowd who are the contractors and the Gate Keepers that have a set list of answers and are next to useless?
  10. Welcome. It will be fines with the remap if you have a good trusted person doing it, but you had best IMO to run the car for a good few months / km before invalidating your manufacturers warranty. Just to be sure there are no snagging faults.
  11. Dip the oil cold and know there is oil and where. As to checking the Oil, that is at Normal Operating temperature, so that is once at 90*oC or so, engine off and check after a few minutes. As per the owners manual, other than some used to say 'Warm' bit that was Skoda, not SEAT, VW or Audi that say 'Hot' or at Normal operating temp. *A few minutes is not more than 5, not 10,15 or 20. A few is like filling with fuel and opening the bonnet and checking the oil like VW think people do as they did decades back.* The only VW engines checked cold are 1.2 44kW onces with a oil capacity of 2.8 litres.
  12. Not visually my cars of the day because i never managed to get to see them but got sent the pics.
  13. Well that was something else because of no towing eye, & the recovery were not expecting an EV, they had sliders but no side winch. Rear wheels did roll eventually. Dealership closed so the car is away 20 miles in the wrong direction until tomorrow when it will go to Dundee.
  14. Still boring, but the circus has reached Scotland. @lol-lolsurely the windfarm, hydro and pumped storage planned here will get underway sooner rather than later. http://bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c87v6xlxz23o http://bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-south-scotland-65112236
  15. RAC on way and should be here soon. Says they can sometimes zap codes and reset. I tried the AC plugged in but the car lock showed red. If I was charging I could have the radio on, or maybe let it go on fire. Past brain farts were parking brake not releasing. Tried a few times while waiting and it will not go into P or apply e- brake. RAC man says he can move it off the bay if it needs recovered. I am sitting with my Shogun and could of dragged it off without any trolley dolly. Time will tell. EDIT, so he was sure that a plug in, read the loads of fault codes and reset and clear and fire it up and on my way. Well no, it said READY & he said you are A OK. I said put it in D and move it please. So it will not go into P it will not apply or release the e-Brake and shows in N. It would not push so that he could lift the front and anyway the parking brake is still on. Just not lit up. Waiting on a call to go back with the key when the low loader arrives. Note on car' Broken down' that will pee a few off. *** No towing eye in the boot with tyre repair pump and gunk.***
  16. Taxi was £30 almost on RAC account to take me 1 mile. Driver was shaking his head. Waiting back at the car now. Tesla got on the Rapid ok, and a Volvo on the 43kW AC charging at 11 kW. I called Arnold Clark,s to let them know the car will be coming in to then in Dundee. The supplying garage that is no longer Vauxhall for sales but does servicing is 1/2 a mile away and recovery trucks 100 yards and where the taxi was sent too. I doubt the car will be repaired that quick but it can get the drop links done when in, maybe new brake pads and yet another set of discs would be the things.
  17. So right now in the torrential rain I am stuck at a rapid charger bay. Unplugged after half an hour pressed start and up comes Gearbox error. Tried a few times. Same thing no drive. Waited a minute. Warning gone. Start and select drive and nothing. Waiting a bit and about to call the RAC. That will be a carry on, and on a flat bed. And hopefully taken someplace to get a hire car. Motability so that is ok, but I have hospital visits to do. I might have to go get my diesel but that is 2 gallons for 54 miles instead of £3 electric. We will see. EDIT. Comedy of errors. So car stopped phone call as I was giving RAC details so had to go away from car to use phone.. 2,nd call handler says 3 hours for a responder, not a flat bed that will come later. But they would get a taxi to take me home and get me my own car. Fine. Taxi office 200 yards away.. home 1 mile. Txt comes in, a taxi on its way from Dundee 20 miles away to take me that 1 mile. And not coming where I am but to the garage 100 yards across the car park because the RAC could not find on their map where the Charge Place Scotland Angus council chargers are in a car park. Only been here 4 years at least.
  18. ^^^ That is what diesels are all about, covering the miles and using less fuel. Not sitting about and then doing lots of short cold start journeys & not getting good fuel economy or low servicing costs or reliability. VW had to cheat with defeat devices with Euro 5 1.6 TSI's and then with Euro 6 eventually go SCR (AdBlue) with them.
  19. Welcome. I will flag this so a mod can move to the Octavia Mk2 section, hopefully someone can help. EDIT. Maybe @Breezy_Pete
  20. @w82 Where does the 2.0TSI not being very popular come from?
  21. The construction of the Pump Storage Schemes are oven ready to go once those paying to have it built get the UK Government to stop dithering. They have to say how much England will be paying for the electricity that England needs. The Battery storage requires the UK and the other 3 Governments to stop allowing councils to block schemes as well as solar, wind and hydro schemes. The Carbon Capture is still all about having millions spent trying to win in the lottery that the UK government keeps running. Everything is a competition to win the right to fill your boots and the end results just keep getting further away. Strange that the energy is wanted and it can then earn money for those behind it or running it and yet they always want tax payers money in grant aid and not just buying the end product which is electricity.
  22. Renewables can be very reasonable and efficient if the energy generated gets to the national grid and used and not just shut down because the Government are 'at it'. The cost of Onshore instillation and maintenance and the safety is much less then offshore and my young lad and his brothers work on turbines and installations. There is a lot of money paid to those with turbines on their land like Call Me Dave's wife's extended family members, then the various land owning or energy company owning politicians and peers including Baron Nicol Stephen Ex Deputy First Minister Scotland. https://www.asiawind.org/speakers-nicol-stephen Con, swindle, corruption, taking the pith. http://businessforscotland.com/the-great-british-electricity-swindle-how-scotland-subsidises-the-uks-energy
  23. Under 22,000 miles is not much, but 5 years of where ever it is driven might mean an engine mount or 2 replacing is in order. Best see a VW Trained mechanic.
  24. Harbour Energy paying off hundreds in Aberdeen after they have expanded from taking over others. CNR closing down oil production in the next 8 years in the Ninian field which they had bought into as other majors were flogging off where they had got oil and gas easier. The UK government helps them set up, helps them be very profitable, and helps them with tax breaks to decommission and they bog off because of the windfall taxes. That is OK because the oil and gas is there for the future and future generations that might not p!ss it up a wall like the UK Governments have been doing. Renewables are not going to be cheaper because the licences are with non UK companies to have the wind farms and anything else that makes money and profits and the UK tax payers will be paying them to bring on the investments and clear off with profits and actually the Uk tax payers will pay for any clear up just as they will do for EDF when the nuclear plants close.
