  1. The repair is to be to the factory standard, which can be sh!te, but not that sh!te. They are muppets.
  2. @varooommight see your post now.
  3. @Gerrycani do not think there is any consumption penalty with a DSG with a 1.2 TSI or any TSI, i think they mean that any driver can pretty well drive efficiently if they drive normally, where lots with a gear stick are economy disasters. 15*oC has been the temps in parts of the UK so far this winter / springs, even 17 oop north yesterday, and getting up to the 20's in the next few days, but 15*oC will not be an average temp in much of the UK and Winter Spec Petrol & Diesel has been in the filling station tanks for the past 5 months. Not that that adversely affects consumption, it can actually improve it if the weather is n not that cold and the engine warm up time is shortened.
  4. http://ecotune-scotland.co.uk West, middle and East Central belt. There are other good and trusted about. http://ves-sport.com http://autohausedinburgh.co.uk @TazdazHas your VAQ diff been service at least once, maybe twice?
  5. Still 23 pence a kWh in Angus with Council chargers. Monday night Edinburgh City to get home i went to Edinburgh Airport Park and ride, 30 minutes max charging time. 35 pence a kWh. ICE car blocking first charger, a car plugged into the 2nd one and no longer charging, 2 chargers out of order so i waited for the new BP Pulse one working. The old charger that is working for free and not limited to 30 minutes was occupied by a Black Hybrid cab, Taxis are playing pass the parcel with it, charging free and mugs can just pay unless lucky to get to it when not a taxi on it. (I should have charged at LIDL Craigmiller and headed home from there. 40 pence a kWh. Morons. & then hopeless maintenance at Edinburgh Airport Park & Ride and mobile phone reception. So communications with apps and chargers.
  6. There are lots & lots & lots charging at charging hubs, super market chargers, park and ride chargers their business use car or van or private use ones. Many have no home chargers. You get to know people and what their charging regimes are when you talk to them. The UK market is not 'perceived' it is an actual figure of BEV's already registered, those on order and how many there are going to be registered when new ICE cars are no longer available to buy in the UK. 'Statistics & Projections' http://heycar.co.uk/blog/electric-cars-statistics-and-projections http://www.zap-map.com/ev-market-statistics I would like to know how many BEV's in the UK have been scrapped in the past 15 years because they were at end of life, or even written off. Maybe SMMT or the DVLA have that figure someplace.
  7. The Quantum & Castrol might and should be VW 504 00 / 507 00, so 507 00 for your TDI, and 5w 30 FS III or 0w 30 FS III. But Quantum in the UK is produced by Fuchs Oils, they are the supplier to TPS and Castrol is from Castrol.
  8. @AthrxSo not only does your car have a turbo which the OP has not, you also have a DSG. Very much apples and pears there then between vehicles.
  9. Allow in your fuel consumption that your car is doing regens and using fuel. They are not great around town no matter what Defeat Device / Cheats VW Group / Skoda had with Euro 5 TDI's. That is why they really were not great for taxis even though millions of them are used exactly for that job.
  10. @GerrycanWhat is the Ambient temperature that your cold starts are at in Australia? That is a rather important figure. (Your car / engine is a Euro 5 compared to the OP's being Euro 6 & with a DSG and engineered to give low emission during testing, not necessarily on the road, but they can be economic.) If doing only 15 miles then it is if you do that using only 1.5 litres that matters. ( Average MPG displayed means nothing really. ) 50 mpg average over 5 miles is very good. If you do 3 x 15 miles from cold starts in actual cold or cooler weather and use only 4.546 litres (a gallon) then many are pleased with that.
  11. Yes. D = Drive. If in D it disengages without having to tick a 'coasting box' then good. (If you do always want 'coasting' enabled.) Shows D7 or coasting just D.
  12. @AthrxSounds like you are venting the tank to get anything like 52 litres let alone 55 litres in. As to the 450 miles E5 and only 320 on E10 there was more going on there than just the ethanol difference. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/338617-overfilling-venting-vrs-mk-ii-fuel-tank http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/352088-vrs-miles-to-a-tank/page/2
  13. @Hairy_Joe it is coming off when it is spark plug change time, and hopefully going back on and fastening with a thump.
  14. @Seasider I take it you mean the DSG in D and 'coasting function' enabled. if it is true the E10 is greener as in you get the same or better economy and lower emissions from it and the ethanol is not using as much energy / crops to produce and transport then good. That better fuel efficiency or lower emissions is not true for all petrol engines compared to the E5 though. & all E5 in the UK is not the same, as the E10 is not. You do get at the very least the minimum octane though, be that 95 ron with unleaded or 97/99 with super unleaded. (Winter formulation petrol and diesel should no longer be getting delivered to filling stations in the UK this month, but there might be some exceptions.) E5 Super unleaded from Tesco (99min) or Sainsbury (97 min) might be no more expensive than E10 95 Min from the BP, Shell, Texaco, Esso, Gulf, Rix etc etc. http://volkswagen.co.uk/en/need-help/need-help-faqs/fuel.html
  15. @masterbateson71Have you still got the 2nd hand Tuning box then and not tried it again on the car, or is it another one you have? http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/510870-mk3-diesel-octy-vrs=doesnt-like-dtuk-box-whats-your-experience
  16. @GiantstuIf you are such a short distance from the dealership they could send out their man that can in a van with his device to read the fault codes, see if they failed to do something at the PDI like check things and not just reset it from 'Transit mode' and a look around. Is the under 10 miles from collecting it and had it a few miles delivery miles or was it 0 miles? EDIT. Aaa sorry, so the car was delivered to you, was that on a trailer/ flat bed or driven? Skoda Assist can get a responder out to you.

  18. @BTandSidAsk the sales executive what the tyre pressures get set at at the PDI for hand over to a customer. If they do not know they can go get a tyre pressure gauge and check all 4 tyres. (take your own tyre pressure gauge, if they are too high, miss-matched they can get the master tech to do another PDI.) When the tyre pressures are adjusted to your requirements reset the TPMS. Lift the bonnet and dip the oil cold, remember where it is, when you get the car home or up to normal operating temp and parked on the flat see where the oil is after stopped for a few minutes. Check where the coolant is between MIN & MAX at hand over. Enjoy the car and remember to Run in / Drive in the new tyres and brakes and the car in general.

  20. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/480819-fuel-cap-cord-cut-replacement It is designed / engineered by 'simply clever people', to sit on top of the fuel filler flap. If you have one that has been.
  21. Just do not go at it too hard. You are only supposed to be removing oxidisation. Fall out etc. The car should have had paint detailed over a decade ago. If your lacquer / top coat is brittle now or had any peeling you are not wanting to disturb. If there had been touch up,s. Or repairs, paint matches you can make them dead obvious. So claybar away but maybe try roof first and see. Always well lubricated. Not bonnet or boot or doors. I would rather just dewax / de polish and see how it looks, then wax the car very well. This is because it is not a new car and no knowledge of the history. If it has good thick paint, top coat lacquer then cars can be wet sanded, machine polished etc. If it has had years if being T-cutted, compounded, already machined polished then you preserve as best you can.
  22. A totally different kettle of fish from a euro 6 1.2 TSI 95 or 110 psi engine, no idea though. And a DQ200 DSG. Not sure if they are actually better fuel efficiency wise in real world than the euro 5 with a chain instead of a cam belt and 75 or 105 ps. They are supposedly lighters, but it is all VW Skoda kidology. Those here that have had a euro 5 then a euro 6 must know which was best for costing less in fuel.
  23. I have a Specialized Fatbike advertised on the forum. 26 X 4.6 Tyres. A 2017 model not used much when it was new. Maybe of interest to someone on here in Scotland or maybe Ireland as on the route from Cairn Ryan. Not a heavy bike.
  24. Bump. Because it is spring and Air Filters need checking, cleaning or replacing. 2021 prices were bad enough with Fixed Price Servicing and maintenance, but now it is really getting silly with many for an oil and filter service and look see and report.
