New car help
If you have to declare a remap to keep your insurance valid and you do, then the same applies with a tuning box. If you are in an accident and you or or your loved ones are involved or anyone else you are not removing a tuning box to have anyone think there was not one fitted.

Warranty claim for corrosion rejected by Skoda
@harry vederciyes they would. I used to do repairs on cars they approved because of the inspection report but i knew had not a valid warranty. I was not and am not a warranty manager, that is AN Others job.

Warranty claim for corrosion rejected by Skoda
@harry vederci ? Are you sure the warranty was not 10 years 12 years back? I think if you have your Warranty you will find it was. Just as well many at Skoda UK have not a clue about their products, warranties etc. If people get 12 years cover which they never had and still get repairs done. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/367782-successful-12-or-10-years-corrosion-claim-register http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/304809-warranty-rust-repairs http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/314085-yayyy-good-old-skoda-uk To be perfectly honest the Warranty does not and should not be expected to cover that water trap. But is is a fundamental design, engineering and material failing. If the first you notice it is at at 11 years it was doing OK, it was a few years back i pointed out the area as an issue. Over 5 years ago for Mk2 Fabia FL's. Common among manufacturers. The cars discussed here are discontinued. Sadly there are issues arising with Mk3 Fabia and trim and water retention. Vorsprung Durch Technik. No way. The Member with this Yeti did have a real lemon and luckily got matters resolved finally with Skoda. They should have had his bucket of rust in the Skoda CZ HQ to show their employees / engineers the importance of Quality Control and good design and what getting it wrong can look like.

Warranty claim for corrosion rejected by Skoda
http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/450331-fabia-rear-door-corrosion http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/481574-2011-fabia-boot-rust-is-it-covered-like-vws-are http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/448654-paint-sorrosion http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/461194-fabia-2-tailgate-rust Did they not say there was no record of you having Inspection carried out? That is OK, because the Paint (only 3 years) or Corrosion Warranty does not Say 'Bi-annual or Periodic Inspections are required. (Was 10 years, then 12 years, and now not clear what they say about panels with corrosion from behind and how long for, if 12 years.) The Service Books did have an 'Inspection Report' page after each Minor & Major Service, but Skoda stopped the Service books. So your window rubber corrosion issue is common. But by the terms of your Warranty the panel has no hole from behind. Just how the design /engineering is crap. ? How old is your car? Doubtful you will get anyplace even when the Warranty Claim goes as it does from the Dealership Employee to the actual people that decide and that can have an Inspection done by a qualified person. As per T&C's.

PS. Have you a manual or a DSG? I see you changed the Air Filter, which makes me think who ever serviced it was not checking it. I see your car is over 57,000 miles. Have the Spark Plugs been replaced yet? Looking at your old threads you certainly appear to have a car with issues. Servicing is important. Inspections. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/511050-whining-sound-while-reversing http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/508768-skoda-vrs-2019-petrol-dsg-black-smoke-on-heavy-acceleration http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/510630-power-steering-feels-heavier-to-turn http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/507862-cold-start-metal-clacking-like-heat-shield

It certainly could be a few things. I hope they are not taking too much money off you. ? How many miles has it done? ****How is the servicing as in Spark Plugs changes if covered enough miles, is the air filter clean and dry?**** ? If you run it on E10 95 Unleaded have you tried it on E5 Super Unleaded 97 or 99 ron minimum? PS Not connected, but has your VAQ Diff been serviced yet or due another? 30,000 miles / 3 year schedule.

New car help
Welcome to the forum. Real world. Fuel & servicing costs to look at. What has the car had done before you get it and what needs doing. Just some of them. Age might well make a difference but you need to check history of what done, and Full Service History is not enough if not done to Manufacturers Guidelines, Recommendations or Schedule. Even Skoda Approved used cars might not be serviced fully, and ones that were on a service plan might not have been. TDI's, good economy if you do the right kind of journeys, usual servicing and hopefully no DPF issues. If you have a DSG then servicing every 40,000 miles or some first at 80,000. Cam belt / water pump etc as and when. If Haldex service TSI 2.0. Fuel according to how you drive / use, servicing as expected, as above, as and when. If VAQ Diff that is servicing @3 years / 30,000 miles. TSI 1.5 ACT. Like the others, but Cambelt change in the region of £1,000 it is turning out to be if done at 5 years or later. DQ200 DSG so no servicing of that.

Disabled Drivers or those who are driven & Registered Keepers (or the nominated driver) & with PIP Mobility Component / DLA Higher rate can get Exemption from VED and there is no VED on the cars leased from Motability no matter if ICE and the emissions. That is unlikely to be changing but you never can tell. 50% VED discount for those not on the Higher Rate Benefits. http://www.gov.uk/financial-help-disabled/vehicles-and-transport- ride comfort - going from 18" 235-45 to 17" or 16". Has anyone done it?
@P33AKY Not if you are on a phone it is not. Often posters are not aware of that and that people might not see what their car is or where they are.- ride comfort - going from 18" 235-45 to 17" or 16". Has anyone done it?
@P33AKYWelcome to the forum. I did not see anything in the posts to show you were new here.- Fitting underbody skid trays to improve aerodynamics?
Best keep the mud flaps and keep the wipers fitted unless you are heading to an arid desert maybe.- ride comfort - going from 18" 235-45 to 17" or 16". Has anyone done it?
@j caffon cars i own i have sensible wheels and balloon tyres. & the lights are good as is the eyesight. On cars i lease i am not changing the rims but i will fit more suitable tyres.- Spark plugs

@j caffare you now making up the answers as you want, without asking first?. Obviously i have wrecked tyres on ironworks and holes, and rims and a tyre this winter past and over the years quite a few. Usually in the rain and where not obvious a pothole or a sidewall hitting a kerb. A few years ago 2 blown out on the A9 in the outside lane with HGV's on the inside and there were other cars in the layby's with the same, rims wrecked etc and all waiting for assistance as others were hitting the holes. As to weekly, well not really no matter how many miles done at night in whatever weather.- 1.5 tfsi dada remap

@j caffYes i have, and airport transport and driving in the dark on bad roads.- 1.5 tfsi dada remap
The remap invalidates ant Warranty. I think 1.5 TSI's and then cars with DQ381 DSG's really need a valid warranty. As for the Superchips warranty, well, read the T&C's and decide. Barge pole as far as i am concerned. PS Not so much the 95, it is the being E10. Plenty 97 ron E5 about if there is a Sainsbury's. The higher octane can help a 1.5 TSI that has a bit of a kangerooing issue even with VW Groups software update.- Fabia 2023 1.0 TSI 95 v 110
@steveeegWhat where the Skoda sales staff like, helpful, ready to do some good deal to get a sale, maybe have you look at the Kamiq or could not care less?- 1.5 tfsi dada remap
Remapping is great, but with a 1.5 TSI ACT i would be buying an extended warranty and look at the price of the Cam Belt replacement if you are going to have that done at 5 years old. Rather expensive. Maybe stick with good servicing, spark plugs, oil and filters and running 99 ron min E5 fuel and a valid warranty.- ride comfort - going from 18" 235-45 to 17" or 16". Has anyone done it?
@P33AKYIs this a Taxi / Private hire car that you had going through a tyre a week? Surely stylee is the least of the concerns. Maybe better dipped beam required/ driving lights & an eye test and use the handling to steer around the potholes.- 1.5 tfsi dada remap
Welcome. Someone that has had theirs remapped might be along. Never a problem with the sizes people mention here as the speedo over reads as it is on the OE tyres when new, when inflated to ECO pressures even, maybe when Winter Tread tyre of the OE size is fitted, so the larger diameter / circumference tyres mean the speedo might be accurate, & unlikely to under read unless you are going 'Monster truck looks' or some tyre sizes some want on their Yeti.- Fitting underbody skid trays to improve aerodynamics?
Skoda have done it for years with the likes of Greenline models, and lower suspension / tyres so less clearance, or just narrower tyres and less grip / traction / safety. But then considering the UK NSL's it makes not much or any difference as you motor along trying to save fuel.- 225 55 18 on a Karoq
Best say which Karoq you have. Loads of threads with questions about Karoq tyres and info. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/498958-tyre-replacement-for-karoq-15tsi-2wd-21550-r18-92w-limited-choices http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/461043-18"-all-season-tyres http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/478835-tyre-size-question http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/454979-wheel-and-tyre-question Lots more in the Tyre or Wheel sections. - EV used car prices plummeting ,what's your experience?
