  1. @davepope Welcome. When was the Air Filter last looked at to be sure that clean and dry, & when were the spark plugs last replaced or checked?
  2. @DSGJohn I take it you know that If you get any wheel spin / lack of traction the TC / ASR can cut power / drive, & not just nip at the brakes.
  3. An Automatic Gearbox Specialist can plug in and do a reset of the clutches clamping pressure. You might actually be needing the clutch packs replaced though. I would not go to a Skoda Main Dealership. You will find 'Basic DSG reset' DIY online. No harm trying but i doubt it will make any difference. Vids on youtube, forum posts etc. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/498984-after-changing-dsg-clutch-slip
  4. Welcome. How long have you had the car and how many miles has it done? You are going to have to have a professional check out your DQ200 DSG since you are aware of the slip. A reset of the DQ200 DSG might be in order at 7 years old. If it was just in heavy rain are you sure the issue was not just your tyres and a case of wheel spin / aquaplaning? http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/439395-the-story-of-the-famous-dq200-clutch-slip

  6. Welcome. Sorry no idea, someone with better hearing will be along. What is the Dealers responsibility? What does the dealer intend doing if it is the fuel pump, are they saying 'They all make that noise' ? Have you got a Warranty with the car? ? How many miles has it done, and is the servicing good, fixed annual servicing or variable, and what oil is in now, is it to VW 504 00 / 504 00, so 5w 30 FS III or 0w 30 FS III or could it be 0w 20 FS IV that was used, VW508 00 / 509 00 ? PS. Cam belt change interval in the UK is at 5 years if getting done to the manufacturers guidelines /recommendation. Spark plugs @ 4 years / 40,000 miles, or at least need looking at, and if looked at as well replaced.
  7. They might not lose coolant but what you notice is that you do not have the supercharger, that is when you get the Exhaust Emissions light on or go into limp mode . http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/501646-fabia-mk2-magnetic-clutch
  8. All Seasons / All Weather / Winter tyres do not scrabble for grip on hot roads / surfaces, they can stick like sh!t to a shovel. (gravel and stone chips can as well and really make a mess of something or someone when they detach at speed from the rubber..) So good can the grip be that you can rip the tread or parts of them off. So perfect for going to the drag strip, well they can be with some cars. As to driving UK roads with 60 mph roads in the heat of a summer they can be perfectly good if all you are doing is keeplng flow with others out on that fine day. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/505352-deteriorating-front-tyres
  9. I assumed Business use. Maybe wrongly. That is why many in the UK have big EV's. http://irishtimes.com/motors/2022/08/10/used-evs-will-have-to-become-much-cheaper-and-more-plentiful
  10. @EnterName Are used EV prices dropping in Ireland?
  11. Getting bigger as Low Emission Zones are introduced and Taxi, Private Hire,Couriers, Fast Food Delivery drivers and others are looking to pick up a bargain as will people looking for 2nd cars or just commuter cars for work into cities and towns. Plenty dealers / traders of Used EV's around the UK. http://rac.co.uk/drive/news/electric-vehicles/news/record-demand-for-electric-vehicles-despite-8.5-drop-in-used-car-sales http://www.fleetnews.co.uk/news/latest-fleet-news/electric-fleet-news/2023/02/21/falling-prices-for-used-evs-boosts-demand-in-january People like 'heycar' will have a vested interest in biging them up considering who owns heycar. http://www.heycar.co.uk/blog/electric-cars-statistics-and-projections
  12. MG EV's are available for new delivery and priced quite well. Maybe the glut of them used in 3 or 4 years time will tell if they are good value. Cars with 50 kWh batteries and only 45 kWh usable an that get no place near the WLTP figures should be depreciating badly. Funnily small battery cars like MINI Electric, Honda E or Up!MiiCitigo electrics might be the ones that stay in demand and you can not pick up as a bargain, as with BMW i3's.
  13. Some EV's like the Stellantis so Vauxhall / Citroen - DS / Peugeot had crazy RRP's & now some new EV cars are cheaper so that is bound to have an affect on things. Motability Finance bought and leased out pre Covid starting 3 years ago and during lots of EV's. The ones from over 3 years ago will be getting handed back and going to BCA and then into the used car market. (You would not want my Corsa Electric when it is due back in August as it is a rattling bucket of poo as many Stallantis EV's will be at 3 years or more. My car was built well over 3 years ago as it was being transported when it ended up in Lockdown from March til August.) A Corsa Electric like mine was £35,000 RRP, and Demonstrators were available a few months later for £25,000 or so and there are dealers asking 2 1/2 -3 years later around £24,000 for a 2020 plate car. They wish. PS. EDIT. Sorry, just looking at Autorader, no idea where they have all disappeared from the Adverts. Has someone been buying them??? PPS. I see Arnold Clark have a few 20 Plate Elite Nav like mine from £18,000 - £20,495 and these are not on Autotrader. I will be interested to see what Motability would sell the one i have to me for.
  14. Sometimes it is the slight coolant loss. It can be when using Cruise Control that you get the Engine Light on (Exhaust Emissions light) or the EPC light, or even limp mode. (As can happen with Misfires, but you have had those in the past have you not) If all is well other than the noise then you need to find out is it the water pimp, and if the car is still on the original that would be no surprise. As to the Timing Chain that was so is an issue with CTHE and there was / is a TPI covering that.
  15. & Peak prices. No idea why Dundee has not done the same. ................. I can not see yet that Angus Council has voted to increase the tariff from 23 pence to 42 pence, but i wish they would introduce max charge times like neighbouring Dundee & Perth & Kinross. 60 Minutes and £1 a minute overstays. If Angus council puts its tariff up then my home tariff of just below 33 pence a kWh will have me using the 3 pin charger occasionally.
  16. East Lothian Council off peak pricing trial. http://www.chargeplacescotland.org/east-lothian-council-peak-off-peak-pricing-trial Dundee resident's discount tariff will end. & there are Dundee tariff increases. http://www.dundeecity.gov.uk/news/article?article_ref=4425
  17. Is that servicing the Haldex had 2 oil changes now and cleaning, and the DSG service done at 65,000 km?
  18. We can maybe assume that Fabia owners recieved their RECALL since 2001 on their cars. A different kettle of worms. Or can of fish.
  19. It has been known about for years and cars affected go back as far as 2001 Hondas. http://autoexpress.co.uk/car-news/108316/exclusive-explosive-scale-of-takata-airbag-scandal
  20. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/438447-2012-2014-cthe-mk2-fabia-vrs-timing-chain-issues http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/457262-2013-fabia-mk-ii-vrs-rattle-to-left-of-engine http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/500003-fabia-vrs-water-pump-senario
  21. @PetrolDave We do not know that yet. VW might try their usual as not safety critical and they will deal with it. They can delay as long as the DfT / DVLA let them away with in the UK. Or VW Germany spin it out. As has happened over the decades.
