Yeti Rear Battery Box - Dimensions
The OP @Navcomicmight not have a TDI or one with SCR though. Maybe a 2011 1.4 TSI. Maybe they will let us know what they have and what they are doing. Maybe just wanting another battery for their Radio. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/391286-yeti-smart-alternator http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/433362-rear-internal-trim

1.5 TSI engine cover
We will see as it is 6 years since Skoda fitted GPF's first and no word on this forum of anyone having had to get one replaced, so in another 6 years we will see if that is true with the latest models / system.

Monte Carlo 2014 - tyres
In the UK a Monte Carlo Fabia has Trinity 17" Alloys (vRS has Gigaro) The Standard tyres are 205 /40 R 17 XL Some fit 215/40 R 17 tyres as the Polo, Ibiza & A1 Twinchargers got, or 205/45 R 17, or just get 16 " rims, or as in a thread down the page might go to 15" rims. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/511233-15-or-16-inch-wheels-on-a-vrs @Murdockman Which 1.2 TSI or 1.6 TDI 105 ps have anything in the performance and handling, the Suspension is called 'Sport' because maybe 15mm lower and they have rear drum brakes. There are Elegance and other models with the same power and 15" rims. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/313093-tweensters-s2000-/page/7 http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/417966-tweensters-cappacino-beige-fabia-estate-new-tyres

1.3 MPI (175 miles to a tank)
@veelsie What size are these new tyres on your car? You never mentioned when the spark plugs were checked or replaced. 1.4 MPI's might be as low as 30 mpg with cold start short journeys, and cars might even be getting just 25 mpg. 45 litres used & just around 247 miles maybe. 40 litres @ 25 mpg 220.

Oil temp worries
The temperature that the oil might be at when the ambient temp is in the high 20's degree celcius. Plenty will have a 2.0 TDI's oil at the likes of 110*oC even in cooler weather and sticking to 70 mph maybe. But then there are enough that drive them on here to be able to confirm that. Easy enough to just try and see at 70 mph and maybe at 100 mph and see where the Oil temp gets to, and how it drops as your speed drops.

Superb -16 2.0 280hp idle problem
@M4NDOOBefore going to too much effort maybe get a Clean Standard Air filter and put it in instead of that 'PERFORMANCE K&N oiled filter that is possibly strangling the car, as they can do. Great for Dusty / Wet environments, re-use when they need cleaning and retreating, and often just a PITY and waster of fuel. IMO & IME.

New timing belt at 5 years
@Yeti333 Skoda fixed price offer on Spark Plugs is now £120. As to £ 500 flat rate Timing Belt replacement any model forget that, think more like £1,000 (even near to £1,200) on a 1.5 TSI ACT, and that is not including a water pump which is not required. Petrol 1.2 TSI might be the cheapest, and maybe a bit more on a 1.0TSI or 1.4 TSI. and more on a 1.4 TSI ACT. but a lot more on a 1.5 TSI ACT when it is over 6 hours labour, some are still saying 7.5 hours. (There are Service Desk staff quoting £555, but they will soon find out that is a mistake on their part.) Then there are those Official Repairers with their own prices and no longer 'Participating Dealers' doing 'Skoda Fixed Price Servicing & Maintenance, 3-10 year old cars.

Superb -16 2.0 280hp idle problem
@M4NDOOIs the cars servicing all good, as in a clean dry air filter fitted and the spark plugs changed or checked (gap) when due and are you running it on Super Unleaded, 98 / 99 Octane ?

What's seeing off all the Fabias?
Plenty Mk1 vRS and other Mk1's in Scotland. Local to me there are at least 5 vRS going about daily.

New or improved hubs announced, Government EV Loans in Scotland and free & no longer free public charging places..
Not approved yet but i expect that Angus Council will increase the EV charging tariff and if it goes to this it will be higher than the neighbouring councils 35 pence a kWh and even Dundee that is 40 pence a kWh for 100-150 kW chargers.

272. Remap or not?
@robzer The Warranty is if the Tuning Box is the cause of damage to the engine. Have you changed the Spark Plugs before fitting the box or have they been changed or checked already? ? Was your insurance company OK with the Tuning Box fitted and did they just charge for the Declaration, or did they load your policy. engine-warranty-terms.pdf

Keeping and skimming discs when replacing pads. On car, off car?
It can drag its bum like a dog with worms.

Keeping and skimming discs when replacing pads. On car, off car?
Hand brake, vs e-brake / parking brake / finger brake.

Keeping and skimming discs when replacing pads. On car, off car?
Get their price, ask them. Compare with just fitting the new discs. I used to have disc skimmed when they were good quality discs, and i have a mate that had an employee that did the skimming. I would not be wasting my time or theirs with any OE discs from a VW Group / Skoda vehicle.

Used Car Prices
^^^ Exactly. They need Trade In's to get those sold or moved on. They need to keep paying employees and overheads and and Interest on money borrowed. The Tax is paid on profits so you reduce profits by showing how much you spent on the prep, servicing etc, those 'Free Service Packages' and a Warranty etc. If you can do all that for much cheapness but having looking expensive, then a nudge and a wink to a blind man. You can not just stay in business Pyramid Selling unless Pyramids are changing hands.

Oil temp worries
110*oC indicated oil temp could be perfectly OK then. The oil @ Normal Operating temp should be at the top of Area A. Be sure it is not overfilled from Cold checks. Your DSG OIl changes are @ 40,000 miles if you have a 6 speed DQ250 DSG.

Oil temp worries
Welcome. What is it, a 1.6 or 2.0 TDI? Not that that matters. Other than which DSG it will have. Depends how you are driving and the weather / ambient temp. 110*oC indicated oil temp can be OK, if you are trucking on. Is it the Coolant Gauge @ 90*oC indicated after the engine coolant is up to temp? That is normal. The Coolant cools the Oil and brings it back down to below 100*oC. So how many miles has your car done? Is the oil changed annually or on variable servicing? Is it at the correct level when the Engine / Oil is at normal operating temp, so the engine stopped after the oil has got to an indicated 90*oC or so? Before any panic or worry be sure the oil level is good, the oil all good,

Welcome. ? What country are you in? I assume that the diesel you get is to suit your climate so waxing is not an issue. ? Has the fuel filter been replaced in recent times or years?
